Chapter 360: Chapter 331: Slash

"Slay!"

High in the sky, the phantom of the Flying Sword was nearly tangible, its blade shimmering with a cold, silver gleam.

With a low cry, the phantom of the Flying Sword rippled like a wave, flickering between the illusory and the real before streaking down like a falling star, gone in a flash.

CRACK!

The golden light, which seemed like a manifestation of divine scripture, finally gave way under the terrifying strain. With a piercing shatter, it visibly broke apart into fragments that scattered and vanished.

The black blade descended, and their lives hung by a thread.

However, the sword shadow streaking down like a meteor forced the True Demon to ignore Chu Mu and Xu Changqing, who were as good as caught.

"ROAR!"

The True Demon roared furiously.

RUMBLE...

Blood from the Blood Pool surged like a tidal wave into the True Demon’s open mouth.

The earth quaked as rocks and dirt rained down.

In an instant, the True Demon’s form twisted and warped dramatically.

Horns like two crescent moons erupted from the earth as if mountains were rising from level ground. A colossal Demon Bull, dozens of meters tall, now stood within the blood-soaked cavern.

"ROAR!"

The Demon Bull roared and leaped into the air, its massive body blotting out what little light remained.

A flash of sword light flared and was gone.

One of its grotesque horns crashed to the ground, and Demon Blood rained down from the sky.

The Demon Bull roared in pain as boundless Demonic Qi surged forth, instantly sweeping through the entire city.

Inside the cavern, Chu Mu felt completely drained, collapsing to the ground in exhaustion.

The commotion from the city above was like rolling thunder; it sounded as if the True Demon was on a furious rampage, but he was too weak to even look.

He mustered the last of his strength to pull several vials of healing elixirs from his Storage Ring and down them all in one go.

He was too weak to even sense the condition of his own body. All he knew was that after he downed the Elixirs, his entire being—his Essence, Qi, and Spirit—was like a dried-out sponge, frantically absorbing the Medicinal Power.

The moment he recovered a sliver of strength, with no time to assess his injuries, Chu Mu summoned the Moonlight Battle Armor with a flicker of his Divine Sense. It appeared before him and, in the blink of an eye, enveloped his entire body.

The Armor was a type of Puppet Creation with its own internal Spiritual Power supply. In his current predicament, facing a Golden Core-level entity, it wouldn’t be of much use, but at least it offered a small measure of comfort.

"You’re all going to die!"

Just then, as a voice dripping with venom echoed in their minds, the world went dark. A colossal head had completely blocked the cavern’s exit.

A large chunk of the massive head was missing, along with one of its horns. From the mangled flesh, Demon Blood poured down like rain.

Chu Mu said nothing. He had no other choice.

He slowly rose to his feet. His feathered wings unfurled as tendrils of Great Sun True Flame coiled around his blade before spreading across his Armor, making him look like a giant wreathed in flame.

Xu Changqing stood ready with his sword, the Sword Order clutched in his palm. His Sword Intent flowed around him. Though it lacked the terrifying power of the one that had pierced the heavens, his aura was still formidable.

"Stall for... ten more minutes."

The weak telepathic message reached Xu Changqing’s mind as Chu Mu leaped forward.

Xu Changqing’s resolute expression shifted. With a thoughtful look, he leaped as well, following right behind Chu Mu. A brilliant beam of sword light tore through the darkness, its tip aimed directly at the Demon Bull’s wound.

At the same time, the Great Sun True Flame erupted. Chu Mu’s strategy was simple.

For someone at the Foundation Establishment Realm to fight a terrifying True Demon, even one that had not fully recovered, was suicidal—like a moth flying into a flame.

The only way to survive was to stall for time.

’I can only hope that Residual Soul wasn’t lying!’

’Otherwise, I will truly perish here today.’

The True Flame erupted in the dim cavern, blazing like a miniature sun. With a low cry from Chu Mu, the fiery sun plummeted alongside the chilling sword light, both aimed at the Demon Bull’s bleeding head.

Chu Mu didn’t have high hopes for the attack.

The gap in their realms was simply too vast.

He only had to look at his own situation to understand the disparity.

Even in his current state—severely injured and utterly spent—an ordinary Qi Cultivation Realm Cultivator would be no threat to him. He could crush one with a single gesture.

If that was true for him, this True Demon was obviously far more powerful.

And just as Chu Mu had expected, the Demon Bull was utterly disdainful of their pincer attack. With a single roar, it batted away the formidable sword light as if it were a falling leaf, sending Xu Changqing flying along with it.

The Demon Bull raised its head, its lantern-like eyes fixed on Chu Mu. The memory of the previous blow was still fresh, and its gaze turned venomous. Chu Mu’s heart sank, but at that moment, the Demon Bull’s colossal body suddenly began to tremble violently.

"Impossible!"

"Who are you!"

"Get out!"

The Demon Bull roared in disbelief, and the Demonic Qi and Demon Flame swirling around it fell into visible disarray.

Chu Mu’s eyes lit up. His True Flame plummeted, meeting no resistance. The surging ball of Great Sun True Flame slammed into the mangled mess on the Demon Bull’s head.

The Demon Bull shrieked in pain and collapsed, thrashing desperately as if mortally wounded.

Xu Changqing flew back, looking battered. He shot Chu Mu a questioning glance.

Chu Mu had his suspicions but simply shook his head. Regardless of the outcome, the full emergence of this True Demon had always been inevitable.

Though he had made a deal with the Residual Soul, the nature of Demons meant they were fundamentally adversaries.

A clandestine relationship like that had to remain a secret.

Seeing this, Xu Changqing tactfully dropped the subject.

At this point, the Demon Bull had gone completely berserk. It roared and thrashed, its Demon Flame raging wildly. Within a few short breaths, the already-damaged mortal Imperial Palace was reduced to absolute rubble.

Chu Mu didn’t let up. He forced himself to channel his Magical Power True Flame, sending one miniature sun after another crashing down. Flesh and blood flew, making the Demon Bull’s shrieks even more harrowing.

"Damn you! Damn you!"

After a few moments of this, the Demon Bull grew even more frenzied. A tide of Demonic Qi and Demon Flame gushed from its massive body.

The roars were incessant as Demon Flame filled the sky.

Chu Mu and Xu Changqing, who had wanted to press their advantage while the beast was down, were forced into a constant retreat in the face of its utter frenzy.

But when a True Demon of at least the Golden Core Realm went berserk, how could mere Foundation Establishment Realm cultivators possibly escape?

Even though it was a mindless rampage and they were only caught in the aftershocks, the two of them felt like a small boat caught in a colossal tsunami. They couldn’t even go with the flow; capsizing was only a moment away.

BOOM!

Another blow landed. Surging Demon Flame and yet another shockwave washed over them. Chu Mu was already severely injured and barely holding on.

Under the force of this final shockwave, Chu Mu could hold on no longer. Like a kite with its string cut, he tumbled back into the deep cavern and was submerged in the Blood Pool...
