Chapter 915 The World as a Tomb, No Assessment Needed
Her choice was completely incomprehensible to everyone. They had never heard of Li Chang’an possessing any treasure hunting skills.
"Senior Sister, come with us. If we encounter danger, at least we can look out for each other," Cui Yan urged, sending a secret sound transmission to Cui Baiying after a quick glance at the others’ expressions. He continued to persuade her patiently, "The situation inside the tomb is unknown, and it’s likely fraught with peril. Moreover, Li Chang’an is suspected of being an undercover agent for the Demonic Path. He himself might be a danger. You absolutely must not trust him!"
"Junior Brother, there’s no need to persuade me. It’s impossible for Daoist Li to be a Demonic undercover agent." Cui Baiying’s attitude was exceptionally firm.
Her trust in Li Chang’an stemmed not only from her own intuition but also because of Zi Xi. If Li Chang’an really was a Demonic undercover agent, Zi Xi would likely have been harmed by him long ago. She could tell that Zi Xi placed immense trust in Li Chang’an; otherwise, she wouldn’t have attended the banquets on Changqing Mountain every single time.
Seeing her refusal, Cui Yan immediately grew anxious. He glared at Li Chang’an and interrogated him, "Li Chang’an, why have you never gone to the Northern Domain to slay demons? Are you hiding a guilty conscience?"
Lin Zhuoran chimed in, "Everyone, we fight Demon Cultivators year-round in the Northern Domain, claiming countless of their lives. Yet this Li Chang’an has barely set foot there. He’s most likely defected to the Demonic Path long ago!"
"Exactly. If that weren’t the case, why does his Changqing Mountain never recruit any disciples?" Liu Xuanfeng’s voice was cold as he pointed at Li Chang’an, listing off his many suspicious traits. He publicly declared that the reason Li Chang’an didn’t take in disciples was likely because he was hiding something shady within Changqing Mountain.
"If you ask me, there must be a Demonic setup beneath Changqing Mountain, much like the Blood Pool of the Yellow Springs Sect or the poison chambers used by the Five Poisons Valley to breed poisonous insects!"
Hearing this, Li Chang’an was inwardly surprised. The guy had actually hit the nail on the head.
Although he hadn’t colluded with the Demonic Path, there truly was an underground palace deep within Changqing Mountain dedicated to breeding poisonous insects. However, he wasn’t worried. As early as when the underground palace was first established, he had left several clones behind to guard it. If there was ever a risk of exposure, he would simply have the clones destroy everything, erasing all traces and auras.
Furthermore, Zi Xia True Monarch had personally visited Changqing Mountain long ago, inspecting the entire area without discovering the underground palace. Other Nascent Soul True Monarchs, such as Wang Yannian, Jiang Xuanyuan, and Cyan Dragon True Monarch, had also visited Changqing Mountain multiple times without noticing any anomalies. Because of this, on the day of his birthday banquet, they were all willing to vouch for him, saving him from being interrogated by other Nascent Soul True Monarchs.
Seeing that Li Chang’an continued to ignore him, Cui Yan grew even more agitated. "Li Chang’an, why aren’t you answering? Since the Demonic invasion began, I’ve personally ventured to the Northern Plains dozens of times. No fewer than thirty Golden Core Demon Cultivators have died by my hands. I dare ask, how many Golden Core Demon Cultivators have you killed?"
Following his lead, the others also chimed in one after another, questioning Li Chang’an while casually flaunting their own battle records. They were all top celestial prides from major Nascent Soul influences and could easily crush ordinary Golden Core Demon Cultivators. Naturally, their records were impressive, with each having killed at least several dozen.
Li Chang’an couldn’t be bothered to entertain their interrogations. He had even killed Demonic Nascent Souls, not to mention heaps of Demonic Path Holy Sons and Saintesses. He simply had no interest in comparing himself with these people; his only priority was refining the Beast Taming Wheel.
"Daoist Cui, shall we head in?"
"Alright." Cui Baiying also had no desire to pay attention to the others. She rebuffed their persuasions and lingered no longer, entering the grand tomb alongside Li Chang’an.
Watching the two disappear, the people outside the tomb wore varying expressions.
"Why does Daoist Cui insist on trusting that Li Chang’an?"
"Forget it. We’ve done everything we could out of goodwill. If she refuses to listen and something happens to her inside the tomb, she can’t blame us."
"Even if nothing happens, they likely won’t obtain many treasures..."
They all felt that Cui Baiying and Li Chang’an wouldn’t reap much benefit inside the tomb and would ultimately have made a wasted trip.
Soon, they too entered the grand tomb.
The situation inside the tomb was entirely different from what anyone had imagined. The moment Li Chang’an entered, he spread out his Divine Sense to check for any hidden mechanisms or traps. However, the surroundings were completely empty. Ahead of him lay a very ordinary passageway, with no traps or mechanisms on either side.
"How strange. Why aren’t there any setups? Could it be that this senior died so suddenly that they didn’t have time to prepare traps for future tomb raiders?" Li Chang’an and Cui Baiying exchanged a glance, both of their eyes filled with doubt. Nevertheless, they did not let their guard down.
For the next half a quarter of an hour, the two employed various scouting methods, exploring cautiously as they ventured deeper into the grand tomb along the desolate passageway. Cui Yan and the others were right behind them, equally vigilant, with no one daring to rashly use an Escape Technique.
Unknowingly, another half a quarter of an hour passed.
Suddenly, Li Chang’an’s Divine Sense perceived that what lay ahead was no longer a cold passageway, but a vast world.
"A Secret Realm?" he wondered in surprise.
Originally, he had thought this passageway was a tomb corridor. But the situation he was currently sensing proved that it was clearly the entrance to a Secret Realm World!
"Did that senior of the Beast Taming Sect use an entire Little World as his post-mortem tomb?" Li Chang’an speculated inwardly.
Nascent Soul True Monarchs were already considered the absolute peak experts to some Secret Realm Worlds. The former strongest expert in the Fire Cloud Secret Realm had only been at the Golden Core Peak. If Li Chang’an wanted to, he could also fashion the entire Fire Cloud Secret Realm into his own grand tomb.
With this thought in mind, he accelerated his speed. Cui Baiying cast a slightly surprised glance at him; because her Divine Sense was inferior to his, she had yet to detect the existence of the Secret Realm. However, she asked nothing and simply matched his quickened pace.
