Chapter 80: Purchasing Snow Sheep
Chapter 80: Chapter 80: Purchasing Snow Sheep
The entire Spirit Beast Hall was carved from a cliff face. In front of its entrance stood nine stone pillars, each so large it would take three people to encircle with their arms. They were adorned with bas-relief carvings of various Spirit Beasts, giving off a rugged and imposing aura.
Dong Xing exclaimed in surprise, "Whoa, this is way more impressive than the Spirit Field Hall."
Li Changsheng nodded in deep agreement. Compared to the Spirit Beast Hall, the Spirit Field Hall did seem rather small and quaint.
After looking around for a while, the two of them stepped into the square.
Their arrival didn’t attract much attention.
The Cultivators closest to them merely glanced over before looking away, returning to their own business.
The two marveled at the great variety of Spirit Beasts in the square.
There were snow sheep with single horns and soft, pure-white fleece.
Phoenix Feather Chickens with plumage as red as fire and tri-colored tails.
Desert Wolves two meters long, as sturdy as calves, with dark gray fur.
There were also Tusked Pigs, Red Foxes, Striped Tigers, grouse, and other Low-grade Spirit Beasts...
Li Changsheng was dazzled by the dozens of species of Spirit Beasts, unsure where to even begin looking.
「After a Cup of Tea’s Time.」
Li Changsheng’s gaze fell upon a dozen or so snow sheep in a cart.
Snow sheep, a Tier One Low-grade Spirit Beast. Their meat was delicious and contained a faint amount of Spiritual Qi, making them quite popular among low-level Cultivators.
Their hide could be tanned into linings for robes, which not only offered some defensive properties but were also very comfortable to wear.
Their fleece could be made into blankets, clothes, quilts, and more...
An adult snow sheep cost about sixty Spirit Stones.
Most importantly, compared to other Spirit Beasts, snow sheep were very easy to raise and relatively inexpensive.
After selling his Spirit Rice, and adding the Spirit Stones he had left over, Li Changsheng had just under four hundred Spirit Stones on hand.
He also wanted to buy a bottle of Refining Jade Pills to break through to the Qi Cultivation Fifth Layer, which left him with only a little over two hundred Spirit Stones to spend.
That was enough to buy about four adult snow sheep.
It wasn’t that he didn’t want to continue raising Tusked Pigs; the main issue was that he had run out of the Blood Bamboo Vine needed to rear them.
Without Blood Bamboo Vine, raising Tusked Pigs was no longer very profitable.
After a moment of thought, Li Changsheng walked toward the cart.
Beside the cart stood a plain-faced young man, engrossed in a book he was flipping through with great interest.
Hearing footsteps, the young man looked up and regarded him with a hint of confusion.
Li Changsheng clasped his hands in greeting, pointed at the snow sheep in the cart, and said, "Senior Brother, may I take a look at the snow sheep?"
"Hm?"
The young man paused, giving him a strange look before nodding. "Go ahead, just don’t let them out." He then lowered his head and went back to his book.
Li Changsheng glanced over and couldn’t help the slight twitch of his lips when he saw the illustrations in the book.
’Goes to show, you can’t judge a person by their appearance!’
Meanwhile, Dong Xing had somehow wandered over to the young man’s side. After seeing the contents of the book, his eyes were glued to it, and he began reading along with relish.
Li Changsheng turned his head to look at the snow sheep in the cart, his gaze focused.
[Target: Snow Sheep]
[Race: Snow Sheep (Female)]
[Tier One Low-grade: 2%]
[Talent: Sharp Horns.]
[Status: Healthy.]
Li Changsheng focused his gaze on the cultivation progress bar, and in the next instant, a piece of information appeared in his mind.
[Nurturing Requirements: 1 pound of alfalfa (daily), 1 pound of weeds tinged with Spiritual Qi (daily), 1 pound of Blood Seed Spirit Rice stalks (daily)]
Li Changsheng felt a hint of joy upon learning the nurturing requirements.
Alfalfa was just an ordinary plant; he remembered those two little girls used it to feed the few grouse they were raising.
As for weeds tinged with Spiritual Qi, there were plenty in the Spirit Field.
Blood Seed Spirit Rice was also cultivated by others, so he would have to ask around about its stalks when he got back.
After thinking for a moment, Li Changsheng turned around and gave a light cough, looking at the two engrossed in the book.
The young man looked up at him, puzzled.
Just as he was about to speak, he heard Dong Xing say urgently, "We’ve finished this part, hurry up and turn the page..."
Li Changsheng: "..."
The young man was good-natured, though. He turned a page before looking at Li Changsheng and asking, "Are you thinking of buying some snow sheep?"
Li Changsheng nodded and clasped his hands. "How much are your snow sheep, Senior Brother?"
A slight smile appeared on the young man’s face. "How many are you looking to buy?"
Li Changsheng pondered for a moment. "Four, I think."
The young man nodded. "Fifty-five Spirit Stones for one snow sheep."
Seemingly afraid that Li Changsheng didn’t know the market price, the young man explained, "The Spirit Beast Hall’s purchase price for an adult snow sheep is fifty-five Spirit Stones."
"Thank you, Senior Brother."
Li Changsheng clasped his fists gratefully, and with a flip of his hand, he took out two hundred and twenty Spirit Stones and offered them to the young man.
The young man didn’t take them, asking doubtfully, "Are you planning to raise them yourself or slaughter them for meat?"
Li Changsheng shook his head. "I can’t afford to eat them. I plan on raising them."
Hearing this, the young man shook his head. "In that case, you’ll also need to buy a male."
Huh?
Li Changsheng was stunned and quickly asked, "Don’t you have any, Senior Brother?"
"Of course I do, but all of these were sired by the same ram," the young man explained. He thought for a moment and added, "How about this? If you really want one, I can help you ask another Senior Brother."
Li Changsheng quickly replied, "Then I’ll have to trouble you, Senior Brother."
’Of course I need one. I can’t breed any lambs without a ram.’
"It’s no trouble."
The young man shook his head, scanned the area, and walked into the crowd.
A short while later, he returned with an elderly Cultivator.
As soon as they met, the old man said bluntly, "I have a ram that’s just ready for sale. Seventy Spirit Stones. Want it?"
The young man beside him gave a slight nod.
"I’ll take it."
Li Changsheng didn’t hesitate. With a flip of his hand, he took out seventy Spirit Stones and handed them over.
The old man accepted the Spirit Stones, took a Spirit Beast Bag from his robes, and released a snow sheep nearly one and a half meters long with pure white fleece.
Li Changsheng inspected it, and after confirming there were no issues, he placed it into his Spirit Beast Bag.
The old man nodded at the two of them and turned back into the crowd.
Li Changsheng clasped his hands toward the young man and handed over one hundred and seventy Spirit Stones. "My thanks again, Senior Brother."
The young man took the Spirit Stones and counted them, the smile on his face growing wider.
"You’re too kind, Junior Brother. Do you want to pick them yourself, or should I help you?"
Li Changsheng waved his hand. "I won’t trouble you, Senior Brother. I’ll just pick them myself."
The young man nodded and said no more.
Li Changsheng walked to the front of the cart, his gaze fixed on the snow sheep within the wooden enclosure.
After a few moments, Li Changsheng opened the wooden gate, stepped inside, and collected the three snow sheep with the highest cultivation progress before getting out of the cart.
After closing the pen, Li Changsheng looked at Dong Xing, who was still engrossed in his reading, and called out, "Senior Brother Dong, it’s time for us to go."
"Huh?"
Dong Xing looked up, confused. "You’re done buying already?"
Li Changsheng couldn’t be bothered to answer him. He clasped his fists toward the young man again and said with a smile, "Senior Brother, we’ll be heading back now."
"Take care."
The young man nodded with a smile.
Dong Xing quite reluctantly handed the book back to the young man.
"Hm?"
The young man took it but found he couldn’t pull it free.
Stunned for a moment, he looked up slightly to see Dong Xing’s hand gripping the book tightly, refusing to let go.
