Chapter 83: Chapter 83: Innocent Xiaobai, the Matter of the Inheritance Begins

Caught completely off guard, Xiaobai had one of its ears grabbed by the girl.

This gave Xiaobai a fright. It yelped, and with a SWOOSH, it dove into Li Changsheng’s arms, its body trembling uncontrollably.

Seeing this, an excited expression appeared on the little girl’s face. She tried to burrow into Li Changsheng’s arms after it, reaching for Xiaobai.

"Don’t..."

Li Changsheng quickly stopped her, steadying her head as he stood up.

’If I really let her provoke Xiaobai and it scratches her, Senior Sister Yun will want to kill me.’

"Little fox, little fox..."

When the little girl saw she couldn’t grab Xiaobai, her face grew anxious. She started jumping up and down, pouncing at Li Changsheng.

"Don’t..."

Before Li Changsheng could finish speaking, the little girl latched onto his arm like a koala, shouting urgently, "Little fox..."

Just then, an angry shout rang out.

"What are you doing!"

Hearing the voice, the little koala of a girl shuddered. She subconsciously covered her bottom with her little hands, and her body involuntarily tipped backward.

Li Changsheng quickly reached out and caught her, saving her from a fall.

At that moment, Yun Wan hurried over, snatched up Qing Lan, and glared angrily at Li Changsheng.

However, before she could speak, the little girl in her arms struggled to turn around, pointed at Li Changsheng, and yelled frantically, "Mama, little fox, little fox..."

’Little fox?’

Yun Wan was a bit confused.

Afraid she would misunderstand, Li Changsheng reached into his robes, grabbed Xiaobai by the scruff of its neck, and dangled it for Yun Wan to see.

He explained, "This is a little white fox I’m raising. She seems to really like it."

Qing Lan shouted excitedly, "Little fox... little fox..."

Yun Wan looked at the innocent-looking little white fox, then at her own daughter, and her face gradually darkened.

She swept Qing Lan into her arms, gave Li Changsheng an apologetic nod, and strode toward the wooden house.

"Little fox..."

Seeing the little fox get farther and farther away, Qing Lan threw a fit, wriggling and trying to get down.

But what could her tiny limbs do against the power of a mother’s love?

Li Changsheng blinked, put away the Spirit Stones, and, carrying Xiaobai, walked over to Xiaohua and mounted up.

"Let’s go, Xiaohua."

They hadn’t gone ten meters when a sharp SMACK echoed from behind them.

It was immediately followed by the sound of a child wailing like a banshee.

Xiaobai, nestled in the crook of his arm, trembled all over and burrowed deeper into his embrace.

The corner of Li Changsheng’s mouth twitched, and he urged Xiaohua to leave quickly.

Only when the wailing could no longer be heard did Xiaohua’s speed slowly decrease.

After that, they passed more than a dozen Spirit Fields before a field of crimson red came into view.

Blood Seed Spirit Rice!

Li Changsheng’s face lit up with joy, and he urged Xiaohua to hurry toward it.

As they drew near, a foul, coppery stench washed over him.

Li Changsheng circulated his Spiritual Power to block the smell, and with a slight thought, he put Xiaobai away.

Just then, a girl of about sixteen with spirited features emerged from a small courtyard not far from the Spirit Field.

Li Changsheng quickly urged Xiaohua toward her.

Sun Wen Yu closed the courtyard gate and turned to look around.

She looked slightly taken aback when she saw a man and a pig approaching her.

’Is he looking for me?’

A trace of doubt flashed across Sun Wen Yu’s face.

She had seen this person before. The swarm of insects he commanded as a Spirit Binder was enough to make her skin crawl. After a moment’s hesitation, she stepped forward to meet him.

The distance was only about a hundred meters, and they soon met.

Sun Wen Yu cupped her hands and said, "Sun Wen Yu greets Senior Brother."

Li Changsheng dismounted, cupped his hands, and said, "Greetings, Junior Sister Sun. No need to be so formal. You can just call me Li Changsheng."

Sensing the friendliness in his words, Sun Wen Yu was secretly pleased and smiled, "Senior Brother Li, what can I do for you?"

Li Changsheng nodded and asked, "Junior Sister Sun, after you harvest your Blood Seed Spirit Rice, do you still have the stalks?"

Sun Wen Yu was puzzled but nodded. "I keep them. I usually use them for cooking fuel."

"In that case, Junior Sister Sun, are the stalks for sale?" Li Changsheng asked, a happy glint in his eyes.

"They’re just useless stalks; no need for Spirit Stones." Sun Wen Yu was stunned for a moment, then waved her hand with a smile. "Senior Brother, come with me."

With that, she led Li Changsheng toward her home.

Opening the courtyard gate, his eyes were met with clumps of vibrant flowers.

Sun Wen Yu turned her head and smiled. "Growing Blood Seed Spirit Rice has a strong smell, so I planted some flowers to cover it up a bit."

Li Changsheng nodded, but he didn’t disperse the Spiritual Power protecting his sense of smell.

’He didn’t have to guess. The pungent floral fragrance mixed with the foul stench from the Spirit Field was definitely not a pleasant combination.’

The two of them walked to the backyard of the wooden house.

In a corner of the backyard was a pile of Blood Seed Spirit Rice stalks.

Sun Wen Yu pointed at it and smiled. "Senior Brother, take as much as you want."

Li Changsheng’s eyes lit up slightly, and he cupped his hands in thanks.

「A Cup of Tea’s Time later.」

"Thank you, Junior Sister Sun. Come visit my place when you have time."

Li Changsheng, his face full of smiles, cupped his hands to bid Sun Wen Yu farewell.

"Take care, Senior Brother," Sun Wen Yu nodded with a smile.

Li Changsheng leaped onto Xiaohua in one step, waved at Sun Wen Yu, and lay down on the stalks.

Watching Xiaohua walk away carrying a pile of stalks nearly five meters long, three meters wide, and over two meters high, Sun Wen Yu couldn’t help but sigh, "That Spirit Beast is truly extraordinary." Then she closed the gate and turned to walk down the other end of the path.

「A short while later.」

A man who looked about forty with a dark complexion caught up to her, calling out, "Junior Sister Sun."

Sun Wen Yu paused slightly, turned to look, and asked in confusion, "Senior Brother Zhong, you are?"

Zhong Ming walked to her side and said, "Senior Brother Bai Yang has passed away. I’m going to pay my respects."

Hearing this, Sun Wen Yu’s expression darkened, and she sighed, "Alas, it’s all because of the Spirit Plant inheritance..."

"He was just greedy and hoping for a lucky break."

Zhong Ming shook his head. "Let’s go."

The two of them walked together toward a small courtyard not far ahead.

「Meanwhile.」

As Xiaohua walked along, countless people looked on with envious eyes.

But it was only envy. Everyone knew that the owner of this black pig was a Cultivator who could command swarms of insects; they, as mere Spirit Farmers, couldn’t afford to provoke him.

Without stopping, they continued on their way.

As they passed Dong Xing’s home, Li Changsheng glanced over; it was still empty inside.

「Back at the small courtyard.」

Li Changsheng unloaded the stalks against the wooden wall next to the kitchen, then picked up an ordinary hoe and entered the backyard.

He walked to an empty patch of ground next to the vegetable garden.

With a slight thought, Li Changsheng’s Spiritual Power surged into the channels of the Sharp Metal Technique.

As the diagram of the channels took shape with a hazy glow, an instant later, a faint golden light spread from his palm. He gently wiped it over the hoe, and the golden light, like water, covered the entire tool in a blink, making it shimmer with a sharp glint.

Li Changsheng gently set the hoe down.

The ground seemed to turn to tofu. The moment the hoe touched down, it sank deep into the soil.

Then he just dragged the hoe like that, walking back and forth a dozen times.

In just a short while, a new, small plot of land had been created next to the vegetable garden.

"This should be enough."

Li Changsheng nodded in satisfaction. With a slight tremor of his palm, he dispelled the Sharp Metal Technique from the hoe.

He turned his hand over, took out alfalfa seeds, and sprinkled them densely into the furrows.

Li Changsheng formed a hand seal for a Technique. With a slight thought, Spiritual Power quickly flowed into the channels of the Small Cloud and Rain Technique.

As the diagram of the channels took shape with a hazy glow, Li Changsheng’s hand seal changed, and he whispered, "Condense."

Wisps of cloud and mist gathered from all directions.

In just a few breaths, a dark cloud three meters in diameter condensed in mid-air.

"Fall!"

As his voice fell, fine strands of rain drifted down from the cloud, landing in the vegetable garden.

「A Cup of Tea’s Time later.」

The once-bare field had sprouted a patch of vibrant green.
