Eternal Life: I Can Sell Everything
Chapter 215 - 212: Small City Level Mysterious Ghost Spirit, Qi Over Five Jin
Unchaste and impure. This vile accusation was now pinned on Miss Gao Da.
Mr. Gao was still young and didn’t have a profound understanding of what a woman’s honor entailed. He was muddled, feeling only a deep sense of confusion. ’My eldest sister is as pure as jade. She was properly married off. Why would this woman accuse her of being unchaste and impure the moment she opened her mouth?’
But the onlookers instantly erupted into an uproar.
Since time immemorial, topics concerning a woman’s chastity have always been the most titillating. Upon hearing such explosive news, the villagers, their own lives barren and dull, were like hyenas catching the scent of blood. Their eyes widened, their mouths gaped, and their teeth were bared...
They clamorously shoved their way toward Miss Gao Da’s body. Someone shouted at the top of their lungs, "Unchaste? How was she unchaste? Hey, Auntie, hurry up and tell us! What did your daughter-in-law do? Why wasn’t she chaste?"
Others, their eyes gleaming with a mixture of excitement and disdain, sneered, "This little wench, always putting on airs. I really thought she was some heavenly Immortal. Turns out she’s worse than any girl from our own village..."
A hand snaked out from the side, attempting to pull away the cloth covering Miss Gao Da. The act was clearly meant as an insult, and Mr. Gao instinctively shot out a hand to block it.
But he was young and weak, and he hadn’t been diligent enough in his Martial Arts practice back home. He blocked one hand, but couldn’t stop the second, the third, or the countless others that reached out.
As hand after hand reached out, Mr. Gao felt as though he were sinking into a mire. He struggled with all his might, but was utterly powerless.
The red clouds in the sky roiled violently. Song Ciwan watched as the shifting clouds were deeply dyed, forming one bottomless whirlpool after another.
Eldest Brother Gao’s face hardened. He turned, rushed back into the house, and emerged with a long spear he had recently crafted. In a single leap, he lunged forward, thrusting his spear at one of the hands reaching for Miss Gao Da.
SHINK!
Blood splattered everywhere. The man clutched his palm and shrieked in agony.
Eldest Brother Gao swept his spear wide and glared at the woman from the Sha Family, roaring, "Despicable! Shameless! My sister has always been prudent and virtuous. It’s impossible that she would ever do anything unchaste! She married into your Liu Family less than three days ago, only to be returned to us as a corpse! And you, you old hag, dare to fabricate slander against her? Your Liu Family must give us an explanation today, or else—"
But Brother Gao never got to finish his threat.
The woman from the Sha Family suddenly reached into her sleeve and pulled out a piece of white cloth stained with faint yellowish spots.
She interrupted Brother Gao with a shriek. "On her wedding night, this little hussy didn’t bleed! And you dare call her chaste? Shameless! A whole family of shameless filth!"
The white cloth fluttered in the wind. It was so small, yet it seemed like a vast canopy blotting out the sky, smothering the enraged Gao family beneath it.
Brother Gao stood with his mouth agape, still gripping his spear, utterly lost for words.
The villagers fell silent as well, their eyes nearly popping from their sockets. Every gaze was fixed on the white cloth, as if it weren’t a piece of fabric at all, but an absurd manuscript filled with countless bizarre tales.
And within those tales, someone was babbling, singing a grotesque song.
No one else made a sound. Only the voice of the Sha woman grew higher and sharper.
"This little slut, this piece of filth! She lost her virginity to some wild man somewhere, then had the gall to marry my son! When my son discovered the truth, she denied it to her dying breath!"
"She’s a fiery one, isn’t she? My son is soft-hearted. If she had just admitted her mistake and kowtowed, he might have forgiven her. But no, she insisted she was pure as jade! Even with the proof in her face, she was still stubborn! What gave her the right? That phony, pretty face of hers?"
"My son, in his anger, barely even touched her, and she dared to pounce on her own husband and fight back!"
"She was so vicious! People were trying to pull them apart, trying to stop the fight, but she still beat my wonderful son to death! That jinx! That venomous shrew! How could she have the heart? How could she bring herself to do it? WAHHHH..."
As she spoke, tears and snot streamed down the Sha woman’s face.
She opened her mouth and began to wail, "Oh, my son! My poor, ill-fated son! It’s all my fault for arranging a marriage with this family for you! These outsiders are no good! They’re all just polished horse turds, worthless through and through!"
"You deserve to die! All of you deserve to die!"
The Sha woman wept and shouted, waving her arms frantically. "Fellow villagers! This Gao family is clearly bullying our Huai Xi Village, thinking there’s no one here to stand up to them! They took our kindness for weakness and dared to do something so wicked! Villagers, we can’t let them get away with this! Make the Gao family pay with their lives and their money!"
The words "pay money" instantly struck a sensitive nerve in every villager present.
And so, the chaos spiraled out of control.
Hundreds of villagers surged forward. How could the Gao siblings possibly resist?
Even though Brother Gao and Gao Erlang both knew Martial Arts—with Gao Erlang being a Scholar of the Qi Nourishing Realm, skilled in both literary and martial pursuits—and even though the third, fourth, and fifth siblings were not weak, and Miss Gao Er possessed the Flying Needle Skill, making her far from some helpless damsel...
...but it was not enough. When they had first fled the capital, Old Sir Gao had personally sealed their Qi Seas to ensure the ten siblings could slip past the great Forbidden Array’s detection.
A seal that would take at least ten years to break!
As they were now, the Gao siblings possessed martial techniques but lacked the internal foundation. Their Qi Blood was insufficient, capping their abilities at a level barely above that of an ordinary person.
