Eternal Life: I Can Sell Everything
Chapter 299 - 292: Slaying a Demon Bare-handed with Overwhelming Force
Song Ciwan followed the wisp of light smoke from the Spirit-Seeking Talisman, climbing another six or seven layers upward.
She didn’t know the true height of the Jian Wood, only that climbing layer after layer like this truly felt endless.
After she climbed past the Seventh Layer and was about to head toward the eighth, Song Ciwan suddenly felt the pressure from above abruptly multiply.
’No, it isn’t just doubling. It’s clearly increasing several-fold, even dozens of times over!’
Song Ciwan once again experienced the feeling of struggling up every step at the foot of the Seeking Immortal Tower.
The pressure at this moment was already comparable to the ninety-ninth step back then.
Fortunately, Song Ciwan’s comprehension of the Force Discharge Technique had now mostly stabilized into a constant state. Although the pressure had increased, her climbing speed only slowed slightly.
Before long, she followed the light smoke to a junction where the upper branches intertwined.
Song Ciwan vaulted herself upward, but at that exact moment, she saw a burst of eerie light shoot straight for her head!
The eerie light arrived without warning, faster than a bolt of lightning.
What was more terrifying was that this thing possessed an overwhelmingly powerful aura.
A sense of control that seemed to forbid time and space enveloped Song Ciwan. For an instant, caught in this surprise attack, her mind went almost blank, her consciousness frozen.
This wasn’t because she was too weak or lacked vigilance. The opponent was simply too strong—stronger than any enemy Song Ciwan had ever encountered!
Beneath that eerie light and its absolute control, a long cord suddenly struck, wrapping around Song Ciwan’s neck with a SNAP!
In the dim light, Song Ciwan felt as though she saw a pair of eyes glowing with a deathly white light.
A demonic roar, accompanied by the CREAK-CREAK of the cord tightening and all sorts of sharp, chaotic cries: "Nnngh! Hieee! Aaaargh..."
Song Ciwan smelled a thick, coppery stench, heard countless chaotic shrieks, and felt a bone-deep chill. In that instant, she was being assaulted on all fronts: sight, smell, hearing, and touch.
The cord continued to tighten. A foul, fishy odor mixed with a cold, clammy stickiness wrapped around her neck, as if at any moment, the terrifying cord would twist her head clean off!
Song Ciwan was wearing a Lower Grade Magical Treasure Level Magic Robe, but when the cord struck, her robe only flared with light for a moment before some strange power suppressed it, rendering it useless.
Even a Magical Treasure was useless. What else could possibly defend against this life-or-death crisis?
The demonic howls continued to echo all around as the cord around Song Ciwan’s neck tightened further. CRACK, CRACK, CRACK... CRACK, CRACK, CRACK... A series of bone-popping sounds rang out.
And then... and then... the cord couldn’t break her neck!
Her figure was slender. Although she was currently using a false face from her Fetal Transformation and Shape-shifting, her overall appearance was still slim and delicate.
Looking at her, no one would have ever guessed that she was a Body Refining master!
Song Ciwan had already cultivated the Thunder Fire Body Devouring Technique to the Third Layer.
She possessed both a Great Success Level Jade Bone Dharma Body and a Great Success Level Body of Impermanence. As for the Third Layer’s Flesh and Blood Slaughter, while she had not reached Great Success, she had already attained the Master Level.
The Third Layer of the Thunder Fire Body Devouring Technique corresponded to the Divinity Transformation Level among Cultivators.
Therefore, although Song Ciwan had not yet reached Divinity Transformation, her physical body was comparable to one who had. No, an ordinary Divinity Transformation Stage Cultivator who did not practice Body Refining would not even possess a Dharma Body on par with Song Ciwan’s.
It was just that in terms of Attack Power, a Body Refining Cultivator might not have the wide array of methods and heaven-defying Magic that a Cultivator did.
However, Song Ciwan also had the Infinite Power Divine Technique.
Sometimes, when Magical Treasures are useless and your mind is blank, brute force is an excellent choice.
When the cord failed to break Song Ciwan’s neck, the pair of white-glowing eyes in the dim light widened instantly.
Song Ciwan seized the opportunity, reached out with both hands, grabbed the cord, and, with all her strength, gave it a savage pull.
She unleashed enough Giant Power to split mountains and part seas, and the cord was instantly torn apart!
"Aaargh!" A pained scream erupted.
The cord instantly retracted, but it was so slippery that Song Ciwan failed to get a firm grip on it.
Sprays of black demon blood flew everywhere as the cord, like an injured spring-loaded rope, snapped back into a gaping, fanged maw.
So, that wasn’t a cord at all! It was clearly a terrifying tongue, dozens of feet long!
And at that moment, Song Ciwan finally got a clear look at the tongue’s owner:
The Demon had a humanoid form. Its body was tall, about ten feet in height, with a head of disheveled gray hair, tattered clothes, and long, pointed ears like an insect’s antennae.
The most frightening part was the Demon’s eyes. With more whites than pupils, they gave off an extremely sinister aura at first glance, making anyone who saw them feel their very Heart Soul being suppressed.
The total suppression Song Ciwan had felt earlier came from these eyes.
This all took longer to describe than it did to happen. In the instant the Demon’s tongue retracted, Song Ciwan immediately stepped forward, reaching out with a backhand grab for the retreating appendage.
Her movements were also extremely fast. The tongue had just shrunk back to the Demon’s mouth when Song Ciwan once again caught it with her bare hands.
This time, she used the Martial Technique, Thousand Illusions Divine Palm. Song Ciwan rarely used this Martial Technique, not because she disliked it, but because she had to maintain her persona as a Cultivator—
’With her many personas, it’s best for each one to have its own distinct style in public. Martial Techniques are her trump card; if she doesn’t have to use them, it’s better not to.’
This Thousand Illusions Divine Palm was a Celestial Level Martial Technique. When paired with Infinite Power, its might was even greater, making it a perfect match.
After Song Ciwan grabbed the Demon’s long tongue, its eyes once again shot out that strange, eerie light.
The terrifying feeling of absolute suppression washed over her again, causing the True Qi in her body to freeze once more.
In a flash, Song Ciwan held the long tongue, pulled her hands to either side, and tore with all her might.
This time, the slippery tongue did not escape her grasp.
With a sickening RIP, the Demon shrieked again, "Aaaaargh!"
Amidst the ear-piercing screams, Song Ciwan used her Giant Power to rip the long tongue in two!
But that wasn’t all. While the Demon was trembling and screaming incessantly, Song Ciwan kicked it to the ground.
The Demon shrieked in astonishment, actually speaking in a human tongue, "Impossible! Mmmph mmmph..."
Its tone was distorted and bizarre.
At the same time, the Heaven and Earth Scale appeared beside Song Ciwan and received a mass of qi: [Demonic Intent. The Fury, astonishment, and resentment of a Slaughter Spirit Level Demon. One pound and nine ounces. Tradeable.]
Slaughter Spirit Level! This was actually a Slaughter Spirit Level Demon, comparable to a Divinity Transformation expert!
