Chapter 308: Chapter 203: Ambush (2)

Since the newcomer was so powerful, it was no great loss if he saw a few of their cruder techniques.

"You misunderstand, Elder." Fang Yue shook his head. "I was just passing through and happened to see you teaching Martial Arts, so I stopped for a moment. I mean no harm."

With that, he cupped his fist. "Elder, I must be going."

As he spoke, he turned to leave.

"Wait, young man. I can see you’ve been seriously injured. I happen to have some healing medicine on me. If you don’t mind, why not give it a try?"

The old man suddenly stopped Fang Yue.

He then took a few Elixir Pills from his robes and handed them to Fang Yue.

The Elixir Pills were translucent and crystalline, and a fragrant aroma wafted from them.

Fang Yue looked down and saw that the Elixir Pills were a vibrant jade-green, covered in a layer of golden markings that resembled the scales of some kind of Spirit Beast.

Although the Elixir Pills had an unusual appearance, Fang Yue could sense the immense life force they contained, along with a rich, herbal aroma. He knew at once that these pills must be priceless!

’These Elixir Pills are quite something!’

Fang Yue nodded. "I appreciate your kind intentions, Elder. But these are just flesh wounds; they’ll heal on their own with a few days of rest."

The Elixirs were clearly valuable, and Fang Yue didn’t dare accept such a gift from a stranger. He knew better than to accept something for nothing.

"Heh, young man."

The old man smiled faintly and said in a heartfelt tone, "Your injuries are severe. Without proper treatment, it could take you months to recover. And don’t worry, I’m not giving you this Elixir for free. That boy you saw earlier is my grandson. When you leave this place, I hope you’ll take him with you."

Fang Yue hesitated. ’It’s that simple? All I have to do is take his grandson away from here?’

Seeing Fang Yue’s hesitation, the old man continued, "Heh, of course, there may be some danger on the road. My enemies might come looking for you. But at most, they’ll only be Martial Masters at the Qi Sensing realm. With your strength, you’ll be more than capable of handling them."

The old man smiled faintly. He had been observing for a while and could tell that Fang Yue was indeed quite powerful.

This wasn’t a complete lie; after all, he didn’t know Fang Yue at all.

After hearing this explanation, Fang Yue’s brow relaxed. "In that case, many thanks, Elder."

"No need for thanks. You look after my grandson for me, and we’ll be even," the old man said with a wave of his hand.

Fang Yue smiled, nodded, and turned to leave.

Watching Fang Yue’s departing figure, the old man sighed. ’Now I can go after that bastard without any worries.’

In truth, the old man felt his end was near. He wanted to find the fiend who had destroyed his family, to seek justice for his wife and child and resolve his own regrets.

Meanwhile, Fang Yue quickly returned to Li San’s home.

Li San was sitting by the door, basking in the sun.

"Ah, young man. Out so early this morning?"

Li San asked, his eyes narrowed to slits.

Fang Yue nodded. "I woke up early and was feeling restless, so I went for a walk."

He noticed Li San seemed dazed, with dark circles under his eyes. Clearly, he hadn’t slept well.

"Right, you should hurry inside. Lan has already prepared the food..." Li San waved his hand dismissively, his mind clearly elsewhere. He was obviously preoccupied.

Fang Yue couldn’t be bothered with him and pushed the door open to enter the house.

The house was simply furnished. On a square dining table sat four plates of steamed fish, a bowl of hot and sour shredded potatoes, a plate of braised eggplant, a small dish of pickled vegetables, two steamed buns, and a bowl of egg drop soup.

The ingredients were simple, but the spread looked exceptionally warm and inviting.

After the meal, Fang Yue returned to his room.

He took out the Elixirs he had received. He was about to swallow one, but felt uneasy. He immediately cut one open, scraped off some of the powder, and went out into the courtyard. Finding a chicken, he fed it the powder.

After observing the chicken carefully and determining the powder wasn’t poison, he finally swallowed the Elixir.

GULP—

The moment he swallowed, Fang Yue felt a burning sensation in his throat as a current of heat surged through his limbs and into his very bones, leaving him feeling pleasantly warm.

WHOOSH—

Immediately after, Fang Yue felt the Primordial Qi in his body surge and begin to circulate wildly. Streams of heat coursed through him, nourishing his organs and repairing his latent injuries.

After a long moment, Fang Yue opened his eyes.

’This Elixir is truly wondrous! My recovery speed has increased dozens of times!’

A look of joy appeared in Fang Yue’s eyes.

He could feel that in just that short time, his body had already recovered by ten percent.

If he took the rest of the Elixirs over the next few days, he might be able to recover the majority of his strength.

’These Elixirs are absolute treasures.’

Fang Yue’s eyes were filled with excitement. He never expected that his early morning stroll would lead to such a fortuitous encounter.

’At this rate,’ he thought, ’I’ll probably make a full recovery in less than half a month.’

At this thought, a faint smile touched Fang Yue’s lips. ’Looks like I’ll be able to leave this place soon!’

Just then, there was a knock at the door.

"Young Master, are you in? May I come in?" a pleasant voice called out. It was Li Lan.

"Please come in, Miss!" Fang Yue hurriedly composed his expression.

CREAK—the door opened, and the graceful Li Lan stepped inside. She looked at Fang Yue and said, "Don’t take what my father said to heart. We can just pretend to humor him."

"My father is getting old and a bit muddled. You don’t have to take his words seriously," Li Lan added.

Fang Yue glanced at Li Lan. She wore a white dress with a white gauze sash at her waist and embroidered slippers on her feet. Her skin, set in a pretty face, was as white as snow.

A slight blush on her cheeks only added to her charm.

"Miss Lan, I understand," Fang Yue replied.

He had no intention of getting married here. He was only staying temporarily because his injuries were too severe and he needed a place to recover.

Now that he had the Elixirs, his injuries would be mostly healed soon, so there was no way he would linger here.

"Good. That’s for the best." Li Lan nodded and then left.

Fang Yue’s gaze narrowed slightly. ’This father and daughter are truly strange,’ he thought. ’Both of them seem to be hiding quite a few secrets.’

However, as long as their schemes didn’t involve him, Fang Yue couldn’t be bothered to care.

With that thought, Fang Yue immediately swallowed another Elixir and continued his recovery.

Two days passed in a flash. As expected, Fang Yue’s injuries were mostly healed, and his combat strength had largely returned.

The urgent sense of crisis he felt had mostly subsided, so he prepared to leave Li Family Village.

He was just about to say goodbye to Li San when he saw Li Lan, who had changed her clothes, leaving Li Family Village.

Seeing this, Fang Yue remembered the two people who had come looking for Li Lan that night. They had said they would make their move in three days. It seemed today was the day.

’No wonder Li Lan left so early and so quietly, without a word to anyone.’

A little while later, Li San found Fang Yue, sighing.

"Ah, you’re up," Li San said, his face etched with worry. "I was going to have Lan’Er marry you today, but I don’t know where she’s gone. I’ve searched the entire village and can’t find her."

’Of course you can’t find her,’ Fang Yue thought. ’Your daughter has probably already rendezvoused with her subordinates.’

’And I bet you’d never guess that your daughter is actually a bandit.’

"Oh, is that so? I’ll go take a look. Maybe I can find her," Fang Yue said reassuringly.

"Yes, you’re right. There’s strength in numbers. Thank you for the trouble," Li San nodded.

Fang Yue went out to search at once. By now, he had recovered about seventy percent of his strength. He could move freely, his combat power was mostly restored, and he moved with extreme speed.

Before long, Fang Yue found Li Lan’s trail and began to follow her.

Li Lan was much slower than him, and with her lower cultivation level, she had no way of detecting him tailing her.

Soon, Fang Yue had followed her to the foot of a mountain.

A main road ran along the foot of the mountain, stretching eastward until it disappeared into the distance.

The small mountain was covered in dense vegetation and thick woods, making it a perfect spot for an ambush.
