Chapter 442: Chapter 265: Shock

Fang Yue had long been prepared. He wasn’t flustered by the Black Shadow’s surprise attack. With a turn of his body, he deftly dodged the vicious strike.

At the same time, he swung his right hand, and a torrent of vigorous Primordial Qi surged forth, striking at the Black Shadow’s vital points.

BANG!

With a dull thud, the Black Shadow was struck by Fang Yue’s Inner Strength. His body swayed, and he staggered back several steps.

"Nice moves!"

The man in black steadied himself and shouted coldly. A flicker of surprise crossed his eyes; he clearly hadn’t expected Fang Yue to be so powerful.

Fang Yue smiled faintly and said, "Hall Master, you flatter me. I may not be much, but I’d like to see what other tricks you have up your sleeve."

The man in black snorted coldly. His figure flickered again, transforming into several black phantoms that attacked Fang Yue simultaneously from all directions.

The speed was so extreme it created an optical illusion.

’A little interesting, but that’s about it. Since you have no stronger moves, you can just lie down and stay down.’

Fang Yue smiled faintly. The next moment, he threw a punch without hesitation.

The punch looked simple, yet it contained Fang Yue’s profound Primordial Qi and exquisite Martial Skill.

The wind from the fist howled, carrying the force of a thunderclap as it shot toward the man in black.

The man in black felt the terrifying power of this punch, and his expression changed drastically.

He had thought his speed was unparalleled, but now, facing this punch, he felt as if his body were being completely suppressed by the Ten Thousand Ridges Divine Mountain, making it utterly impossible to evade his opponent’s attack.

He could only brace himself, swinging both palms in an attempt to block the punch.

BOOM!

Fist and palms collided, unleashing a deafening roar.

The man in black felt as if he’d been struck by a great mountain. His entire body shot backward like a cannonball, smashing heavily onto the ground.

PTUI!

The man in black spat out a mouthful of blood, his face instantly turning as pale as paper.

He struggled to lift his head and stared at Fang Yue in terror, his heart filled with disbelief and despair.

Fang Yue, however, stood his ground, his expression unchanged, as if that punch had barely cost him any effort.

He looked indifferently at the man in black and said, "You lose."

The man in black was silent for a moment before finally sighing in resignation and admitting his defeat.

He knew he was done for.

"You... didn’t you just ascend to the Innate Realm? How are you so strong!" the man in black asked as he struggled.

’Those people paid me to make a move, telling me that Fang Yue had only just reached the Innate Realm. I thought I could teach him a lesson with ease, but I never expected to be so easily suppressed by him.’

’Now my life hangs by a thread. What a terrible miscalculation.’

’Who could he blame? He could only blame himself for succumbing to temptation. He’d taken their money, and greed had clouded his judgment, leading him to make the wrong choice.’

Fang Yue looked at the man in black’s terrified and confused eyes and asked coolly, "Go on. Who sent you to test me?"

Hearing this, the man in black’s heart trembled.

He knew he had no way out. If he continued to hide the truth, he was afraid Fang Yue would actually kill him.

So, he gritted his teeth and decided to tell the truth.

"It... it was the Li Family!" the man in black forced out.

"The Li Family?" Fang Yue’s brow furrowed in confusion. ’I have no dealings with the Li Family. Why would they send someone to test me?’

Seeing that Fang Yue seemed genuinely unaware, the man in black hurriedly explained:

"Yes, the Li Family from right here in the city. They offered me some benefits to come test your strength. They said you’d only just reached the Innate Realm and weren’t very strong, so I..."

The man in black trailed off, because he saw that Fang Yue’s gaze had turned incomparably cold.

"So you came here to die? And you’re still trying to lie to me now?" Fang Yue said icily.

At his words, the man in black’s heart seized, and a bone-deep chill washed over him.

The man in black was stunned by Fang Yue’s words. He hadn’t expected his opponent to be so sharp, seeing through his lie in an instant.

He had planned to use the Li Family’s name to distract Fang Yue and buy himself a chance at survival, but it was clear now that his plan had failed.

"I... I’ll tell the truth!"

The man in black didn’t dare hide anything more and quickly said, "It was actually the Observatory—"

But at that exact moment, Fang Yue suddenly struck, unleashing a ferocious punch.

The man in black had no time to react and was struck hard.

"You... you, how..."

Heavily wounded, the man in black was filled with confusion. Why wouldn’t his opponent let him finish speaking?

But it was a question he would never have answered. For at that moment, he fell silent, completely and utterly dead.

"Since you weren’t going to tell the truth, there was no need to speak. It can only be a few people from the Observatory, anyway."

Fang Yue snorted coldly, then turned and walked away.

"Listen up in there! Surrender immediately, or be killed without mercy!"

Just then, the clatter of armor sounded from outside the courtyard gate.

Fang Yue frowned slightly and turned to look toward the courtyard gate.

He could clearly hear the sounds from outside; a large number of soldiers had obviously surrounded the place.

’Looks like this was all premeditated,’ Fang Yue sneered inwardly. He knew he had been drawn into a conspiracy.

In addition to this man, his opponents had also arranged for the City Guard Army.

However, he felt not the slightest bit of fear or panic.

’With my current strength, unless it’s one of the Great Wei Dynasty’s most elite legions, it doesn’t matter how many ordinary soldiers they send.’

’Besides, I hold an official post. As the Director of the Gongzhou Prefecture’s Observatory, my status is, in some ways, even higher than that of the Gongzhou Prefecture’s Mansion Master.’
