Chapter 1701: The Sane Corpse Governor (1)

  • Next Chapter

Just when the Corpse Governor was starting to feel the power of the King’s Might, and the Abyssal King Realm was finally in front of him...

’BOOOOOOOOOOM!!’

The entire chamber shook violently, and countless ancient formations trembled as an overwhelming force slammed into the outer barrier.

’BOOOOOOOOOOM!!’

Another explosion followed immediately, and the protective formation rippled violently as cracks rapidly spread across its surface.

Outside, the Evernight Fiend King continuously swung his halberd with overwhelming force while the Evernight Demon King effortlessly dismantled the ancient sealing formations one layer after another.

Every strike drew them closer, and every breath weakened the final barrier.

The Corpse Governor merely glanced upward, and despite feeling the overwhelming pressure of two veteran Abyssal Kings, his expression remained utterly indifferent.

Thereafter, a cold sneer slowly spread across his ethereal face before his voice drifted through the chamber like the whisper of death itself.

"Hmph...it’s too late." The faint King’s Might surrounding his Undead Soul intensified as he continued, "You’ve arrived...only to witness the beginning of your Evernight Council’s nightmare."

Another deafening explosion shook the chamber, and the formation was moments away from collapse, yet the Corpse Governor never moved.

His eyes overflowed with murderous intent. "Even if I’m not a match for old Abyssal Kings, and if I must die today, then your Evernight Council shall accompany me. I will make sure you all remember this day till the day you die, for I shall be your Heart Evil!"

His voice suddenly grew louder and more imposing, as every word carried the weight of an awakening monarch.

"I want to see. whether those lofty Evernight Dukes can survive an Abyssal Ordeal of the Abyssal King Realm!"

The chamber violently quaked, and the incomplete King’s Might erupted like an awakening volcano, and his Undead Soul rose even higher as his unique Corpse Law gathered around it.

The faint-gray crack upon its forehead rapidly expanded, and the surrounding space immediately responded.

Outside the forbidden region, the entire Undead Cradle began to darken as boundless Corpse Qi surged upward, ancient rumbling echoed from beyond the world itself, and reality seemed to reject what was about to be born.

The Corpse Governor slowly stood, and his skeletal body and Undead Soul became perfectly aligned, and every ounce of his cultivation, every fragment of his will, and every obsession accumulated over countless years condensed into a single declaration.

His corpse flames erupted once more, illuminating the chamber with an eerie crimson radiance.

"Break..." His voice shook the very fabric of space, "...BREAK FOR ME!"

The King’s Might surged violently, "LET ME SEE..."

The heavens roared in response.

"...THE HORIZON..."

Every law within the forbidden region began collapsing one after another.

"...AS THE CORPSE KING!!!"

’BOOOOOOOOOOOOOOM!!’

The instant those words fell, the final barrier surrounding the sealed chamber exploded apart, and the Evernight Fiend King and Evernight Demon King stepped into the throne chamber.

But the next moment, both froze as they looked at the chamber’s center, where an immense Undead Soul floated.

It no longer resembled an ordinary undead soul, and profound Abyssal Laws revolved around it like dark rivers orbiting an endless sea. Above it, a faint gray-black King’s Might slowly expanded.

The King’s Might was still incomplete and weak, yet it was unquestionably a King’s Might!

The Evernight Fiend King’s pupils contracted, "...He actually did it."

Even the Evernight Demon King’s calm expression underwent its first genuine change since entering the Lower Grave Strata.

She muttered with a hint of nostalgia, "...The final step."

Strangely enough, neither of them attacked, and not because they lacked confidence but because they couldn’t.

At this moment, the Corpse Governor slowly looked towards them as his corpse flames calmly settled upon the two ancient Abyssal Kings.

Suddenly, he seemed to smile at them, but it wasn’t one of madness or arrogance; instead, it was mockery.

"How unexpected..." His ethereal voice echoed throughout the chamber, "It is truly my honor to receive the mighty Evernight Fiend King..."

His gaze shifted, "...and the wise Evernight Demon King inside my humble residence."

The Evernight Fiend King merely rested his halberd upon his shoulder with flames quietly ignited around its blade.

"So, you’ve finally stepped onto the Abyssal King’s path." His sneer grew colder. "Unfortunately, even if you succeed, you still won’t survive today."

His enormous frame radiated overwhelming killing intent. "One newly advanced Abyssal King is no match for me."

He looked toward the Evernight Demon King, "Much less both of us together."

Silence followed, and then the Corpse Governor unexpectedly nodded.

"You are correct." The admission came without hesitation, "I was never your equal, nor am I delusional enough to think I can go against the entire Evernight Council."

His skeletal fingers slowly closed, and his voice suddenly became frighteningly calm, "But...so what? The moment the Undead Boundary disappeared...the moment that damned Sky Stealer robbed me...I already knew. My ending was inevitable."

He slowly raised his head, and his corpse flame burned brighter, and an eerie smile seemed to have surfaced on his skeletal face, "But my death does not mean the Corpse Clan dies with me. In fact, right now the two of you cannot interfere."

The Evernight Fiend King’s eyes narrowed, and the Evernight Demon King sighed with a hint of hidden frustration.

"The Abyss..." The Corpse Governor slowly continued, "...has already acknowledged me. The Abyssal King’s Ordeal has sensed my existence."

His eyes became filled with ridicule as his smile widened and he stated, "Unless you wish to interfere. But then the Ordeal will acknowledge you as part of the Abyssal Ordeal as well!"

The Corpse Governor’s mocking laughter echoed in the chamber before he said, "And I find it difficult to believe that two veteran Abyssal Kings like yourselves would willingly throw yourselves into an Abyssal King Ordeal."

Silence filled the entire chamber, and the Evernight Fiend King almost lost control as he had never been mocked like this by an inferior Abyssal Being before, much less from a filthy Undead Race junior.

But no matter how mad he was, he still didn’t make a move, for the Corpse Governor’s words carried no lies; only facts!
