Every Sentinel I Dreamed of Came Looking for Me
Chapter 215: She Will Not Be a Pushover
Chapter 215: Chapter 215: She Will Not Be a Pushover
"Major General Qi, it makes sense for you to return to the Capital Star to recuperate, but on what grounds are you making me go back too? The training isn’t over. Why should I leave halfway through?"
"Can your body handle it?" Qi Yao’s tone reverted to that cold, all-business demeanor. "You’ve overdrawn your spiritual power and were unconscious for a day. You can’t have fully recovered yet, right? In this state, staying here is useless."
"I know my own body best. The training isn’t over, and I’m not leaving!"
Yun Sheng’s voice was level, but exceptionally resolute.
Qi Yao’s brow furrowed slightly as he stared at her for a few seconds.
Yun Sheng met his gaze without flinching, her back ramrod straight.
But Qi Yao paid her attitude no mind.
His gaze fell upon her, carrying an absolute, cold authority. "This isn’t up to you. You must return with us. I may not be the chief instructor anymore, but I still hold the rank of Major General. Deciding whether a trainee like you stays or goes is well within my authority."
The anger Yun Sheng had just suppressed flared up.
’This Qi Yao! He just doesn’t quit!’
’Why should I have to go back just because he and Lin Yueyao want me to?’
’This field training ends with a re-evaluation of our Levels. My spiritual power has clearly increased, and I need the result of that re-evaluation to prove my Level has risen as a result of this training.’
’That way, even if people think my power grew too quickly, they’ll just attribute it to a life-or-death experience in the field training that unlocked my potential.’
’I wouldn’t be the first for something like that to happen to, and even if someone were suspicious, they wouldn’t have any proof.’
’But if I go back now, any rapid increase in my power later will definitely arouse suspicion, drawing even more attention and potentially exposing my secrets.’
’That would be a disaster for me.’
’So, I absolutely cannot go back now!’
Yun Sheng’s eyes narrowed slightly, and the look she gave Qi Yao changed in an instant.
’Since he’s the one blocking my path, he can’t blame me for what comes next.’
She subtly crooked a finger, and wisps of spiritual power silently emerged.
This spiritual power was cloaked in the energies of Si Jin, Bai Ye, Xing Che, and her own, creating an exceptionally mixed aura.
Even if it were detected, no one could tell whose power it was.
Qi Yao had just sensed something was wrong when his pupils abruptly contracted.
"You—"
Before he could finish, Yun Sheng’s spiritual power, like a thin needle, pierced his already crumbling spiritual landscape.
The fissures he had been struggling to contain shattered in that instant. Spiritual power burst forth like a flood from a broken dam, rampaging through his spiritual landscape.
Qi Yao’s eyes flew wide with disbelief. His lips parted, but he couldn’t utter a single word.
His body convulsed violently before he collapsed, falling heavily onto the cot and losing consciousness completely.
The tent fell silent.
Only Qi Yao’s utterly chaotic spiritual power continued to churn in the air, like a trapped beast in its final throes.
Yun Sheng stood her ground, her gaze icy as she looked at the unconscious Qi Yao on the cot. She didn’t retract her spiritual power; instead, she sent out a few more wisps.
’Not enough!’
’He needs to be completely incapacitated, unable to wake up for a good while. It would be best if he wakes up with his memories in chaos, unable to remember a thing.’
’I can’t leave any loose ends!’
Yun Sheng recalled something she had read in a Tower manual about severe damage to a spiritual landscape. If a spiritual landscape was repeatedly torn apart and shredded by an external force to a certain degree, the Sentinel would not only fall into a deep coma but also suffer from severe memory confusion, partial amnesia, and a drop in Level upon waking...
Her gaze darkened. She condensed her spiritual power into extremely fine blades and repeatedly drove them into Qi Yao’s already shattered spiritual landscape.
Slicing, churning, she turned his already crumbling spiritual fragments into a tangled mess.
Yun Sheng could feel Qi Yao’s spiritual landscape trembling violently, like a mirror being struck repeatedly, cracks spreading crazily from the center outwards.
Tiny fragments tumbled and collided within the spiritual storm, emitting a sharp, shattering sound only she could hear.
She didn’t know how much time had passed.
A minute, two minutes, or maybe longer.
She only knew she had to be thorough!
Only when Qi Yao’s spiritual landscape had become a chaotic mess, its once barely recognizable fragments churned beyond any hope of reassembly, did Yun Sheng slowly retract her spiritual power.
Wisp by wisp, she carefully withdrew it, leaving no trace behind.
Qi Yao’s face was ashen, his breathing so faint it was nearly inaudible. He lay motionless on the cot, as if completely drained.
His spiritual landscape was an absolute wreck. Even the most skilled S-class Guide wouldn’t be able to repair it anytime soon.
Yun Sheng took a deep breath, withdrew the last wisp of her spiritual power, and the iciness on her face instantly vanished, replaced by a look of sheer horror.
"Major General Qi! Major General Qi, what’s wrong?!"
She screamed as she rushed out of the tent, her face pale and her voice trembling.
"Someone! Help! Major General Qi has passed out!"
The two Sentinels on guard outside the tent paled. One bolted inside while the other immediately ran to get help.
If something really happened to the Major General, none of them could bear the responsibility!
Yun Sheng stood at the tent’s entrance, watching them go. She lowered her eyes, her fingers clenching slightly.
The morning light on her face was a bit harsh. She took a deep breath, suppressing the turmoil of emotions inside her.
’In the original story, the original owner of this body had tried to seduce Qi Yao. When she failed, she was framed for trying to poison and murder Lin Yueyao, which led to her exile to a contaminated zone and a miserable death in the wilderness.’
’Yun Sheng thought that the original owner had brought it on herself by going after Qi Yao first. As long as Qi Yao didn’t provoke her or try to trip her up, she had no intention of doing anything to him.’
’But now that Qi Yao was targeting her again and again, pushing her aggressively and trying to block her path, she’d be damned if she was going to be a pushover!’
Soon, Zhao Heng, Old Zhou, and a few of Qi Yao’s other trusted men rushed over. Lin Yueyao also came jogging up, her eyes still heavy with sleep.
Zhao Heng threw open the tent flap and rushed in. The sight of Qi Yao lying motionless on the cot, his face as white as a sheet, made him freeze.
"Major General!" he cried, lunging forward to check Qi Yao’s breathing. He turned back, frantic, and yelled, "Old Zhou! Call a doctor! Quick!"
Old Zhou’s face was grim as he turned and bolted outside.
The tent descended into chaos, the few Sentinels inside fumbling about, unsure of what to do.
Lin Yueyao hurried forward and tried to probe Qi Yao’s condition with her spiritual power. But the moment she made contact, she was repelled by the utterly chaotic fluctuations and her own face paled slightly.
"How could this happen... He was fine when I left, wasn’t he?"
Her voice trembled slightly, her brow furrowed tightly. She clearly hadn’t expected Qi Yao’s condition to worsen to this extent.
Just then, Lin Yueyao caught sight of Yun Sheng standing off to the side. She asked subconsciously, "Yun Sheng, you... what did you do? Ah Yao wasn’t this bad before. How could this happen so suddenly?"
