Chapter 362: Chapter 362: Shengsheng, Can You Stay With Me Tonight?

"You’re right. There is absolutely a mole for Dark Nest hiding within the Tower, or among the people who were around you back then. I’ve already ordered Luo Cheng to fully investigate the mission protocols and anyone who was in the know at the time."

Yun Sheng’s heart sank further as she listened. She hesitated before speaking, full of confusion and bewilderment.

"Who exactly founded Dark Nest? Their power is far too immense. Not only can they plant moles in the Tower and intercept classified missions, but they even managed to develop a targeted serum capable of corrupting a High-level Sentinel... Just how long have they been planning this? How were they able to reach this point?"

Hearing this, Bai Ye’s expression grew even more solemn. He let out a soft breath, his tone low and helpless.

"The backgrounds of Dark Nest’s founders and core members remain a mystery to this day. The Tower has been investigating them for over a decade but still hasn’t been able to completely unearth the truth.

"No one knows exactly how long they’ve been plotting. We only know they’ve been lying in wait for years, secretly gathering power and developing various serums specifically targeting the weaknesses of Sentinels and guides.

"Furthermore, their most terrifying aspect has never been their martial prowess, but their infiltration."

He paused and looked at the calm-faced Si Jin before continuing, "Over the years, Dark Nest’s operatives have silently infiltrated all major circles. Even in many of the Tower’s core departments, their moles are lurking.

"Because of this, every crucial investigation is intercepted halfway, important clues inexplicably vanish, and many truths are suppressed and sealed away completely."

Sitting to the side, Si Jin listened quietly, the chill in his eyes deepening layer by layer. He parted his thin lips, his tone bone-piercingly cold.

"So, the leak of my impromptu mission details back then wasn’t a coincidence. Someone had been watching me all along, just waiting for a chance to set a trap."

Yun Sheng’s heart went cold at his words, a tight sensation creeping up her back.

"Then Xing Che’s adoptive father..." She abruptly raised her head, her voice carrying a trace of tension. "Could he be one of Dark Nest’s top brass?"

Bai Ye cast her a complicated look. "All of his information and traces of his existence have been erased. It’s hard to judge, but it’s not impossible."

With those words, a dead silence fell over the dining room. The warm, yellowish light continued to shine comfortably, but a heavy haze of gloom shrouded all three of their hearts.

Yun Sheng was the first to break the silence.

She pursed her somewhat dry lips, her tone wrapping around undisguised worry as she spoke softly. "Then what about Xing Che... are we going to keep an eye on him? He was hurt so badly this time. His adoptive father obviously struck to kill, leaving no leeway at all."

Bai Ye nodded. "I’ve already arranged for people to monitor him around the clock. On one hand, it’s to guarantee his safety. On the other hand, I want to use his connection to weed out more of those hiding in the shadows."

"Alright, let’s leave it at that for now."

Worry aside, Yun Sheng knew she couldn’t rush things. Now that everything had been discussed, Bai Ye slowly stood up, preparing to take his leave.

He didn’t say anything more, but his gaze unconsciously landed on Yun Sheng, lingering as if reluctant to look away.

Noticing his stare, Yun Sheng slightly raised her eyes and gave him a hesitant look. She remained silent, just sitting there quietly.

Taking all of this in, Si Jin’s expression remained perfectly calm. Surprisingly, he took the initiative to ask him to stay.

"It’s getting late. We have a spare guest room in the house. If you don’t mind, you can stay here for the night."

Bai Ye was slightly taken aback. He lifted his gaze to look at Si Jin, stunned for a couple of seconds before replying, "Alright."

With that settled, Si Jin said no more and silently began clearing the dishes from the dining table. His movements were crisp and efficient. Carrying a stack of bowls and plates, he turned toward the kitchen, casually dropping an instruction over his shoulder.

"The guest room is the secondary bedroom on the west side. You can go take a look yourself."

Bai Ye nodded. Following the direction Si Jin had pointed out, he strolled over to the guest bedroom.

The room was clean and tidy, its furnishings simple yet cozy. It had clearly been well-maintained and was ready for a guest at a moment’s notice.

At that moment, Yun Sheng hurried into the guest room, carrying clean bedding she had just dug out from the walk-in closet’s storage cabinet, along with a loose men’s cotton pajama set.

"This room is always empty; no one has ever stayed here. The bedding is clean, so you can just use it," she said softly, lowering her head to expertly make the bed for him.

Bai Ye stood to the side without stepping forward to help, merely lowering his eyes to watch her quietly.

The warm yellow light spilled over the soft crown of Yun Sheng’s hair, outlining her gentle silhouette. A tender, affectionate warmth swirled in his eyes. His gaze was glued to her, reluctant to shift away for even a second.

When Yun Sheng finished making the bed and straightened up to hand him the pajamas, Bai Ye suddenly leaned down, closing the distance between them. The gap between them vanished instantly. They were close enough to hear each other’s breaths, and the atmosphere quietly shifted into something delightfully ambiguous and delicate.

"Thank you for the trouble, Shengsheng," he whispered, his tone impossibly gentle.

Yun Sheng’s fingertips paused. She looked up, crashing straight into his eyes brimming with tenderness, and her heartbeat inexplicably skipped half a beat.

Feeling a bit self-conscious, she turned her head away slightly and gently shoved the pajamas into his hands, mumbling, "It’s no trouble. Get some rest soon."

Bai Ye took the clothes, his fingertips accidentally brushing against her hand. The warm, soft touch was distinctly clear. That sensation spread from his fingertips, instantly soothing the exhaustion that racked his body.

Today was the first day Yun Sheng had agreed to be with him—the day they officially established their relationship. While Si Jin was around earlier, he had constantly suppressed the fluttering in his heart, not daring to overstep his bounds.

But now, alone in this room, looking at the soft-featured woman of his heart standing so close, Bai Ye could no longer hold back his surging emotions. Lowering his eyes, he locked his gaze firmly onto her. His voice dropped extremely low, carrying a restrained huskiness.

"Shengsheng."

Yun Sheng looked up at the sound of her name. Before she could respond, a shadow fell over her vision.

Bai Ye leaned down and gently clasped her wrist, pulling her toward him. The next second, his warm lips descended, softly covering hers. He kissed her very lightly, just pressing shallowly against her and gently rubbing, tracing the soft shape of her lips with patient devotion.

Yun Sheng’s pupils trembled slightly. Her fingers subconsciously curled, tightly gripping the fabric at her sides. The warm touch washed over her, throwing her heartbeat into sudden chaos and bringing a faint flush of heat to her entire body.

After a few seconds of dazed hesitation, the fluttering in her heart overpowered her awkwardness. Tilting her head up, she raised a hand to rest against his shoulder and slowly returned his kiss.

Sensing her active response, the restrained gentleness radiating from Bai Ye instantly cracked open. The originally tender kiss suddenly heated up, becoming completely profound.

He tightened his grip on her wrists slightly, pinning them to her sides as he kissed her deeper and harder. His warm breath completely enveloped her, lingering and scorching. Driven by a long-suppressed longing, it bit by bit devoured all of Yun Sheng’s air and rationality.

Inside the quiet guest room, the temperature spiked abruptly. The sensual atmosphere intertwined, completely enveloping the two of them.

Yun Sheng’s body went weak from the kiss. Her legs felt slightly wobbly, forcing her to instinctively lean against him to stay upright. A shallow mist slowly veiled her eyes.

After what felt like an eternity, Bai Ye finally pulled back just a fraction. Resting his forehead against hers, his eyes were brimming with thick, lingering affection and longing.

"Shengsheng... can you stay with me tonight?"
