Chapter 305: Chapter 155: Experience Game of the Tyrant
The few "heartless people" determined to "cure her princess syndrome" crossed the Broken Bridge.
Su Ran said, his conscience pricking him, "Are we being too harsh? It’s so cold, and Sister Piaopiao is walking barefoot. She could easily get sick. Maybe we should go back and help her up."
Shan Zhentian said, "It’s fine. Your Sister Piaopiao grew up on Spirit Sword Mountain, and you know how cold the winters there can be. She’s been used to the cold since she was a kid. She’ll be alright. We have to cure this princess syndrome of hers, or she’ll just keep driving everyone crazy day after day."
Su Ran let out a small "oh" and glanced back. Seeing Liu Piaopiao’s bare feet on the icy stone slabs, he thought, ’How can I not feel a little sorry for her?’
Su Ran was a typical nice guy, almost to a fault; he couldn’t bear to see anyone around him suffer.
He reminded Shan Zhentian twice more, but the man remained completely unmoved, resolute in his decision to teach his wife a lesson.
Su Ran thought, ’Shan Zhentian really is hopelessly dense. It’s a crime not to dote on such a delicate and charming wife.’
At that moment, seeing Sister Piaopiao—that beautiful and seductive young lady—shivering pitifully, he hesitated, then turned and walked back.
When Liu Piaopiao saw Su Ran return, her haughty demeanor immediately resurfaced. She planted her hands, still clutching her high heels, on her slender waist and huffed, "Back to laugh at me? I don’t want to see you."
As she spoke, her feet hopped ceaselessly on the ice-cold ground, her body trembling with each movement.
"Still here?"
She raised a high heel threateningly, as if to say she’d hit him with it if he didn’t leave.
"Sister Piaopiao, the ground is cold. You’ll catch your death walking around barefoot like this. You’re going to get sick."
The long legs beneath Liu Piaopiao’s tight, high-slit qipao were shivering as she continued to hop. Still, she put on a brave face. "Can’t you see I’m exercising? Exercise makes me happy! I’m not going to get sick! Besides, weren’t you the one who let go of me? Don’t you dare act all sympathetic now. I don’t need your concern! Talk about being heartless. I doted on you so much, and you just abandoned me to gang up with Shan Zhentian and bully me. Don’t you feel guilty at all?"
Su Ran thought, ’This mother-in-law of mine is actually pretty cute.’
"You’re smiling? Oh my god! I’m going to kill you, you heartless little Ranran!"
"Stop, stop, stop! Don’t hit me! I’ll help you up."
"Hah! Help me up? Alright, fine. Kneel down, kowtow three times, and say, ’Mom, I was wrong.’ Then I’ll forgive you."
’Besides being cute, she’s the type to take a mile if you give her an inch.’
"You keep on exercising, then. I’m leaving."
Su Ran turned to leave.
"Hmph!"
A very nasal and disgruntled huff came from Sister Piaopiao behind him.
"Get back here!" she yelled.
Su Ran returned to her side.
"What’s wrong?"
"I... I..." In the most defiant tone she could muster, she said, "I can’t hop anymore."
*Pfft...*
Su Ran stifled a laugh. "In that case, I’ll call Uncle Shan to come back and carry you."
"I don’t want to see that man. He doesn’t even feel bad for his own wife. What good is he?"
She said it loudly on purpose, but unfortunately, that hopelessly dense Shan Zhentian on the other side didn’t get the hint. Thinking she was just complaining about him, he just strode away even faster.
Su Ran was speechless. ’Sister Piaopiao obviously meant for him to come back and carry her, but unfortunately, Shan Zhentian is suffering from a terminal case of oblivious-straight-guy syndrome. He just doesn’t get it.’ This infuriated Liu Piaopiao, who whipped her head around to glare at Su Ran.
Su Ran froze. "You don’t want *me* to carry you, do you? That wouldn’t be right. I can carry Weizi, but it’s not appropriate for me to carry you."
Liu Piaopiao looked up and kicked Su Ran right on the butt. "In your dreams! I’m telling you to help me up."
"What?"
"I! SAID! LET! ME! LEAN! ON! YOU!" she roared.
Su Ran’s ears were ringing.
"Sister Piaopiao, I really don’t get you. The path is so slippery, why insist on wearing such high heels? Aren’t you just asking for trouble? Would it kill you to wear flats?"
"How was I supposed to know? If I’d known the path was slippery, I would’ve worn flat sh—"
Before the word "shoes" could leave her lips, Su Ran produced a pair of white sneakers from behind his back and offered them to her.
The Magic Treasure Chest was truly magical; it could produce any small item on demand.
If his ’Emergency PR’ skill was for ’life-or-death crisis aversion,’ then his ’Little Magic’ was for being a ’knight in shining armor’ when a woman needed it most.
’All part of the charm.’
This time, however, it wasn’t about being charming. Sister Piaopiao genuinely needed a pair of flats.
"Here," he said. "Just found these white sneakers by the side of the road. Size 37, they should fit you. I’m only doing this for Shan Weizi’s sake, to show my respect for her mother. So don’t go getting all touched."
With that, he walked away.
Liu Piaopiao froze, her mind buzzing. It took her a long moment to snap out of it. She quickly put on the white sneakers, and instantly, the cold in her feet vanished. They were incredibly warm; there were even two heated insoles inside.
It was a warmth that spread from the soles of her feet straight to her heart.
"Little Ranran, I appreciate the gesture! You can have your photo. Take as many as you want; it’s fine by me."
"Oh."
’Done deal.’
’Now to wait for the big photoshoot.’
...
「West Lake • Dreaming of the Tang Dynasty Festival」
The venue was packed with people, including many men and women cosplaying characters from the Great Tang. There were even a few convincing male cross-dressers.
Su Ran bought a few ice cream bars and squeezed his way back to the front of the stage. "Eating ice cream in the middle of winter, now that’s a vibe. You want one, Lou Shishi?"
Lou Shishi asked, "Do you have any Zhong Xuegao?"
Su Ran replied, "The Zhong Xuegao is over in the barbecue area. If you want, I can go grill a few skewers of it for you."
Lou Shishi said, "Forget it. Just give me a Magnum bar."
Su Ran handed her a Magnum and then asked the old man if he wanted to try the "fire and ice" experience.
The old man shook his head and declined, saying his old bones couldn’t handle that kind of excitement.
Lou Shishi chuckled. "Heh, Brother-in-law, you’re only seventy. That’s still young! I give you my permission to find a new partner. What do you think, Zhentian?"
It was the kind of joke only a sister-in-law would dare to make.
Shan Zhentian said, "After Mom passed away, Dad has refused to find someone for over a decade. *Sigh*."
The old man said, "I’m not looking anymore. I’m fine just as I am. You all go ahead and eat your ice cream."
Liu Piaopiao said, "Su Ran, give me one."
