Everyone Can Hear My Thoughts, and Now They're Panicking
Chapter 206: The Medicine is Very Effective
Julian Lancaster hadn’t expected such a twist, either.
According to Jane Lancaster’s thoughts, Luna Morgan had once saved an old man who gave her a bottle of medicine that could cure stomach ailments.
That night at the Holt family’s home, Luna had tried to give him the medicine, but Jane had intercepted it.
Later, Jane gave the medicine to him.
He was a suspicious person and didn’t believe the pills would fall back into his hands so easily. He even had them sent to a professional lab for testing to confirm they hadn’t been tampered with.
But at the same time, the lab’s analysis concluded that the medicine had no therapeutic effect on stomach problems.
For a while, Julian suspected the whole story about the medicine might have been something Jane made up.
That was until the botched kidnapping incident. After breaking off her engagement, Jane left to clear her head and hadn’t been heard from since.
During that time, Luna Morgan came to the Lancaster family’s home every day, waiting for Jane to return so she could apologize to her in person.
She didn’t get to see Jane, but one day, she remembered that Jane had once asked her for a bottle of medicine.
Since it was something Jane wanted, Luna was determined to get it for her. She went back to her old house and tore the place apart looking for it, and she actually found it.
The next day, that bottle of medicine was placed in front of Julian Lancaster.
Luna Morgan gave the medicine to Julian, and she spilled the beans about her secret encounter with the mysterious old man.
She said that at first, she didn’t really believe in supernatural things, which was why she hadn’t paid much attention to the medicine.
But since Miss Lancaster knew about it, and the family’s second son had asked for it too, she started to think that maybe the medicine really was important.
She had likely misunderstood Jane’s intentions, thinking that out of deep sibling affection, the younger sister was seeking medicine for her brother.
Little did she know, Jane had no good intentions at all.
Julian Lancaster took out the bottle of pills. He had sent them for testing, and the lab had recently responded. According to the analysis, there was nothing wrong with the ingredients.
As for its therapeutic effects, the lab couldn’t give a definitive answer.
However, when Luna Morgan brought the medicine over that day, she had taken two pills right in front of him.
He had casually remarked, "The medicine hasn’t expired, has it?" and Luna had immediately tipped the pills into her mouth without a second thought.
If it had been anyone else, Julian might have remained suspicious.
But Luna Morgan would never harm him.
He tipped out a pill and swallowed it, his expression immediately turning to one of surprise.
"What’s wrong?" Adrian Lancaster asked, a little nervous.
"Nothing. The medicine works really well. I feel much better," Julian said, snapping back to his senses.
A rich, medicinal aroma seemed to linger on his tongue. The medicine was taking effect, and his stomach pain had actually been greatly relieved.
A warmth spread through his entire body, as if a body long afflicted by chronic illness was finally able to stretch and relax.
Adrian Lancaster relaxed. He took the porcelain bottle and examined it for a moment. "This bottle is an antique. It’s not cheap."
’Using such a valuable porcelain bottle for pills shows that the pills themselves are anything but ordinary.’
’No wonder it’s so effective.’
Adrian was usually a cold person, but this time, he was genuinely happy for his older brother. "Julian, I really hope your stomach problems get better soon."
It wasn’t until Alvin Lancaster collapsed that he realized his feelings for his two older brothers weren’t purely utilitarian.
After all, they were the brothers who had depended on each other since childhood. How could he possibly remain completely indifferent?
’Looking at it this way, Jane Lancaster is the truly cold-blooded one.’
’Maybe it’s because she was the most spoiled child that she’s so heartless.’
"Julian, do you think..." Adrian started to say, but he stopped abruptly at the sound of a knock on the door.
It was Lucy Finch, reminding Julian that there was an urgent matter at the company that needed his attention.
Julian was about to leave, but he paused. "Chase, you need to be on your guard, too."
"I know. Don’t worry, Julian," Adrian said.
According to Jane’s thoughts, his career would collapse because he faked a father-son relationship for publicity, and then he would be poisoned into a coma.
Adrian had been intentionally reducing his workload recently and was keeping his distance from a certain senior industry figure he was close with.
As for the poisoning, that was trickier. Fame attracts trouble, and he had plenty of rivals.
However, few would be bold enough to actually use poison. The person must hate him with a passion to be willing to do whatever it takes, which narrowed down the list of suspects.
Not only that, but Adrian had also run background checks on his studio staff, identifying a few suspicious individuals for his manager to keep a secret eye on.
He was extra careful about what he ate and drank on set. He’d even given up his daily iced Americano, drinking only bottled mineral water.
Of course, Adrian knew this wasn’t foolproof. If he had the chance, he really wanted to invite Jane to the set to see if he could overhear more specific information.

It was late at night when Jane Lancaster returned to the hospital.
When the nurse on duty saw her, her expression became a little awkward, and she seemed unsure of what to do.
The hospital had a "lights out" policy. Adrian, likely experienced with staying overnight at hospitals, had specifically instructed the nurses during their ten o’clock rounds not to let anyone in.
The nurse wasn’t sure if "anyone" included Jane Lancaster.
Jane understood just by looking at her expression. ’So they’re even guarding against me?’
She was just about to leave when someone called out to her.
The head nurse was passing by the main door, saw Jane, and seemed to understand the situation.
She proactively swiped her card to open the glass door and let Jane in.
As they walked, she smiled apologetically. "I’m sorry, the hospital policy is to lock the doors after ten, so the nurse couldn’t let you in. I hope you understand."
The head nurse thought it was normal for siblings to have arguments. She saw things clearly: Jane was very concerned about her brother, and back then, she was the only one who could handle Secretary Dawson and his group.
Her methods couldn’t be called extreme. After all, you can’t reason with thugs and bullies.
She liked Jane and didn’t want her to feel bad, so she tried to smooth things over.
Jane, of course, knew the hospital policy was just an excuse. The Hughes Family had extravagantly booked two entire floors of the hospital’s VIP ward, and people were coming and going from their floors even in the middle of the night.
Still, she appreciated the head nurse’s kindness.
The hospital room was pitch-black.
The hired caregiver was sleeping by the door, snoring like thunder. In the inner room, Adrian was sleeping soundly with an eye mask on, completely undisturbed.
After all, he was an actor. Pulling all-nighters waiting to film was routine, and on set, you slept wherever and whenever you could.
Jane’s gaze fell on the hospital bed, and she unexpectedly met a pair of eyes staring right back at her.
"..." She froze in shock. Just as she was about to cover her face, she heard Alvin Lancaster whisper, "Jay?"
Jane stopped, hesitating before she spoke. "Alvin?"
"Jay, it’s really you!" Alvin was so overjoyed that he immediately tried to scramble out of bed.
He bumped into the bed rail, which made a loud BANG, and he instantly held his breath, terrified.
A moment later, seeing that neither Adrian nor the caregiver had stirred, he carefully and gently tugged on the corner of Jane’s shirt.
His voice was hurt and bewildered. "Jay, I’ve been waiting for you to come find me. I’ve been waiting for so long."
Jane’s expression was stiff. "You’re not afraid of me?"
’Didn’t he have a mental breakdown because he saw me?’
Even Jane had to admit that the psychological trauma she had inflicted on Alvin ran deep.
’In his eyes, I’m probably no different from a crazed murderer right now.’
Alvin shook his head slightly. "I’m not scared. You’re Jay, the best sister in the world."
Jane was silent for a moment. "I’m not."
