Evil Alchemist System

Chapter 119: Drunk Under Moonlight

  • Next Chapter

The atmosphere had become much more relaxed now that the tournament and wilderness training were finally over.

Li Qiang and Zhu Yuan were particularly excited, repeatedly bringing up some of the battles they had witnessed and laughing about the reactions of the Vermilion Flame Sect’s disciples.

Long Feng mostly listened while occasionally joining the conversation.

However, after a while, he suddenly remembered something.

"The news about what happened today... reached the sect so quickly?"

Li Qiang paused with his cup halfway to his mouth.

"What do you mean?"

"We only returned today, yet you two already seemed to know about the results before we even arrived. Even the other disciples outside the hotel seemed to know about what happened." Long Feng frowned slightly. "Did someone from the training area return before us to report everything?"

Zhu Yuan shook his head with a smile. "No. Nobody needed to return physically."

Long Feng looked at him with some curiosity.

"Then how?"

"Communication talismans," Zhu Yuan replied. "The elders supervising the wilderness training could directly send the important information back to the sect. They didn’t have to wait until everyone returned."

Long Feng’s expression changed slightly.

"Communication talismans?"

"Yes." Li Qiang nodded. "They’re used to transmit messages over long distances. The elders can send information back to the sect almost immediately, which is why the sect already knew about the tournament results, the wilderness training, and the final harvest before we returned."

Long Feng listened carefully. He had heard about such things in his previous life, but he had never actually seen anything like them himself.

After coming to this world, he had assumed that information would mostly be carried by people or transmitted through ordinary methods.

He hadn’t expected cultivators to have something similar to a long-distance communication system.

"So they’re that fast?"

"Some are," Zhu Yuan said. "But don’t think every communication talisman can transmit information across enormous distances. The stronger the talisman, the farther and more reliably it can communicate. High-grade communication talismans are particularly valuable."

Long Feng nodded thoughtfully.

"But why didn’t I heard anything about such things?"

Zhu Yuan’s expression became slightly serious. "At least a seventh-rank or higher talisman master can refine the kind of communication talismans capable of long-distance transmission. Even among the major forces of the Central Region, they’re rare."

"Seventh rank..." Long Feng murmured in shock. Alchemist and Talisman Masters are same in rank, both of them required Void Ascension realm for cultivators to reach there. Such realm experts were not common, no wonder, they weren’t common in market.

Suddenly Li Qiang laughed upon thinking something. "Hehe... but you would probably see a communication talisman very soon"

"How?" Long Feng looked at him in surprise. How would he found a Seventh rank talisman very soon.

"A Core disciple’s token has a basic communication function." Li Qiang pointed toward it. "Of course, it’s much simpler than a real communication talisman. The sect can use it to send certain messages to disciples, such as ordering them to return when necessary. It can also be used in emergencies. If a disciple encounters danger outside and another disciple from the sect is nearby, the token can transmit a basic distress signal."

Zhu Yuan nodded from the side. "It’s not powerful enough for ordinary long-distance conversations, but it’s extremely useful for keeping disciples connected when they’re outside the sect."

Long Feng picked up his disciple token and examined it for a moment.

"So I would have carrying something like that not long before."

He put the token back and took another drink.

The matter was soon left behind as the conversation moved to other things. After another few cups, he suddenly remembered something else.

"By the way... how did you recognize Senior Sister Su?"

Eventually, Long Feng leaned back in his chair, his eyes slightly unfocused from the wine, though his mind was still working quickly.

This was something he had wanted to ask Li Qiang for a while, but the conversation had kept moving from one topic to another, so he had waited until now.

"What?" Li Qiang blinked, clearly not understanding what he meant.

"I mean, how did you know who she was?" Long Feng narrowed his eyes. "You even knew her name."

Li Qiang stared at him for a moment before suddenly bursting into laughter.

"Are you serious?"

"What’s funny in this?"

"You’re asking me that after everyone in the sect was talking about her? You really are a cultivation maniac."

Zhu Yuan chuckled. "Long Feng seems to spend most of his time cultivating or refining pills. He probably doesn’t pay attention to things like this."

Li Qiang leaned closer and said, "Senior Sister Su Qingxue is one of the most famous core disciples in the sect. Not only is she beautiful, she’s also extremely young for someone of her status."

He shook his head. "Do you know how unusual that is?"

Long Feng took another drink.

"I know she’s strong."

"Strong?" Zhu Yuan laughed. "Her situation is even more unusual than that."

"What do you mean?"

"Her cultivation hadn’t reached the level normally required to become a core disciple when she was accepted into the core disciple ranks, yet the sect still made an exception for her."

Long Feng’s eyes narrowed slightly.

"An exception?"

"Yes." Zhu Yuan also nodded. "The Azura Heaven Sect has strict requirements for core disciples. If the elders were willing to make an exception for her, there had to be a reason."

"Either her background is powerful enough that the sect doesn’t dare treat her like an ordinary disciple... Or her talent is extraordinary enough that even the sect elders were willing to make an exception."

Long Feng quietly listened. He already knew the answer. This would be related to her ’Heavenly Physique.’

After obtaining the knowledge of a seventh-rank alchemist, his understanding of physiques had become much deeper. A Heavenly Physique could possess astonishing potential even before it fully awakened.

What surprised Long Feng was that someone in the sect had actually recognized Su Qingxue’s extraordinary physique before it had completely manifested.

Even he had only find out because of his system and never felt himself anything special in her body, even when making love. ’That person must have extraordinary insight.’

Long Feng picked up his cup again. "But even so, she’s still quite impressive."

"That’s what everyone says," Li Qiang replied with a grin.

The conversation continued after that. Eventually, the night grew deeper, and the bottles on the table gradually became empty. The effects of the wine also became increasingly obvious.

When the three finally stood up, Li Qiang immediately staggered.

"Whoa..."

Zhu Yuan quickly grabbed his shoulder.

"Careful."

Li Qiang steadied himself and protested, "I’m fine."

"You’re drunk."

"So are you."

"Not as much as you." The two immediately began arguing again.

Long Feng also stood up, but his body swayed slightly.

’This wine is seriously troublesome.’

He frowned inwardly. The wine had managed to affect even him.

The three eventually walked out of the hotel.

The cool night air immediately greeted them, and the breeze helped Long Feng regain some clarity.

Li Qiang stretched his arms.

"That was worth it."

"You’re going to regret saying that tomorrow," Zhu Yuan laughed.

"So are you."

The two continued arguing as they walked.

Long Feng shook his head and followed them for a while, but he stopped again after some distance. There was a familiar figure standing beneath the moonlight, Su Qingxue.

"Qingxue?" Long Feng blinked several times before confirming that he wasn’t hallucinating.

Seeing him, Su Qingxue smiled warmly and walked toward him before naturally taking his arm.

"You finally came out."

Long Feng looked at her in surprise.

"Why are you here?"

"I heard where you were celebrating here." She smiled faintly. "After you became famous today, finding out where you went wasn’t difficult."

Long Feng stared at her for a moment before a faint smile appeared on his face.

"So you were waiting for me?"

Su Qingxue didn’t immediately answer. Instead, she looked at him carefully and noticed the smell of alcohol.

"You’ve been drinking."

"A little."

"A little?" She looked at him helplessly. "You can barely walk straight."

Long Feng immediately straightened his body.

"I can walk."

He took one step, then another, but his body immediately swayed. Su Qingxue quickly reached out and supported him.

Long Feng looked down at the arm around his waist, then looked back at her.

"See? I’m fine."

Su Qingxue couldn’t help rolling her eyes upon his behavior.

"You’re even more shameless when you’re drunk."

"Maybe." Long Feng smiled lightly, he leaned slightly closer.

"Or maybe I’m just more honest."

Su Qingxue’s cheeks slowly turned red, she tightened her hold around his waist.

"Come on. I’m taking you back."

"Then I’ll listen to you."

He placed an arm around her waist for support as they began walking.

Several disciples passed them along the way. Some of them even recognized Su Qingxue and immediately lowered their heads respectfully. Others secretly glanced at the two of them before quickly looking away.

Su Qingxue noticed those gazes and became slightly embarrassed.

"Long Feng, don’t lean so heavily."

"I’m drunk."

"You weren’t this helpless a moment ago."

"That was before you started supporting me."

She looked at him helplessly. "You really are troublesome."

Long Feng laughed quietly.

"Yet you’re still taking care of me."

Under the moonlight, the two figures gradually disappeared along the quiet path leading toward her residence.

When they finally reached the entrance of her place, Su Qingxue helped him inside.

The door slowly closed behind them. The noise of the sect disappeared, only the quiet moonlight remained outside.
