B2 Ch 106 - The Frenzy Goes Quiet

Jester was snatched away so quickly that his tiny body was already trapped inside the Frenzy creature’s grip before he could properly react. From this close, he could see it much more clearly. Its eyes were wild and unfocused, filled with nothing but frenzy and violent excitement, while its open mouth revealed rows of small, sharp teeth behind a crazed grin.

They dropped rapidly.

Jester could do little except allow himself to be carried down in its grasp. A moment later, the creature slammed into the ground with enough force to shake the earth beneath them. It straightened almost immediately, lifting Jester until his tiny body was level with its face.

“You’re mine, you’re mine! I want you, I want you!” the creature cried.

Still trapped tightly in its hand, Jester could only let out a long sigh.

“Mira, stop. That’s enough. You’ve already done more than enough,” he said calmly.

“Your Highness, Mira killed them! Mira tore them apart and cut off their heads! Mira did everything you told her to do! Every task you gave Mira, she finished it!”

“Yes, you did. Good girl. You did very well.”

“Mira did good, Your Highness? Mira wants praise! Lots and lots of praise!”

“Sure,” he said. “But put me down first. You’re squeezing me too tightly. I’m not some kind of toy.”

The girl slowly lowered herself and sat on the ground. She loosened her fingers at last and carefully placed Jester on her lap, letting his tiny body sit comfortably against her knees. The violent red aura surrounding her had not disappeared yet, but it was gradually beginning to fade.

“You handled everything very well, Mira,” Jester said, his voice gentle but even. “You’re extremely reliable when it comes to missions like this, and I’ve never had any reason to doubt your abilities. You’re one of the people I can rely on the most when I need something difficult done.”

Mira remained perfectly still.

“And you’re getting better at controlling yourself too. The moment you saw me, you immediately started coming back to your senses. Maybe not completely, but much faster than before. I appreciate that, Mira. You did well.”

Jester raised one hand.

Mira blinked in surprise. Then, almost instinctively, she lowered her head toward him.

Jester gently patted her head.

The red aura around Mira weakened drastically, peeling away from her body until the violent glow began to disappear. Her natural appearance slowly returned beneath it, and strands of her white hair became clearly visible again. When she finally lifted her face toward him, the change was almost ridiculous.

The Frenzy’s crazed, bloodthirsty expression was gone. Instead, a pair of wide, round eyes stared innocently back at Jester.

Then Mira broke into a huge smile and happily squeezed her eyes shut.

“You’re so nice! Mira feels all warm and happy now! Your Highness always says such sweet things, and when you praise Mira, all the noisy feelings in Mira’s head go quiet. Mira really, really likes that! Mira wants more praise! And more head pats too!”

Before Jester could respond, Mira leaned forward and pressed her face against his pocket-sized body, happily rubbing her cheek all over him.

And she was seriously rubbing him.

At this size, practically Jester’s entire body was being smothered beneath Mira’s cheek. He let out another tired sigh. Although, if he had to be fair about it, the bunny girl’s cheek really was ridiculously soft.

There were still a few small splashes of blood left on it, though. That somewhat ruined the cuteness.

Mira eventually pulled her face away, still wearing the same bright, satisfied smile. By then, another figure had appeared behind Jester. Vanessa had returned, now standing before Mira in her human form rather than as a bat.

At nearly the same moment, the shadows nearby began to shift. Darkness gathered and stretched upward, slowly taking the shape of a woman.

Shade emerged silently from within it, standing among them as if she had been there the entire time.

Okay, good. Mira’s Bond Strength had even surpassed Elora’s now, despite Elora having spent considerably more time around him.

Jester smiled as he looked at the bunny girl’s face, which was currently showing nothing but her cute and innocent side. It was almost difficult to believe this was the same girl who, only moments ago, had been tearing people apart in a bloodthirsty frenzy.

There were still many things Jester needed to deal with tonight. He already knew this was going to be a long night, but at least he had managed to get Mira back under control. Her stamina should have been heavily drained after everything she had done in her Frenzy state, so Jester summoned Fang afterward to take her back.

“You’re going back to the city to get some rest, okay? Michel will stay with you. You’ve done enough for tonight, and I’ll need you to cause even more chaos for me later. So make sure you get plenty of rest. The more energy you recover now, the more you can do for me next time.”

“Mira is very happy, Your Highness! Mira will sleep lots and lots! Mira will be a good girl and rest properly, and when Mira wakes up, she’ll have lots of energy again! Then Mira can go as crazy as Your Highness wants!”

The bunny girl declared it with such a bright, innocent smile that Jester could only let out an even deeper sigh.

She is too cute!!!!!

Mira climbed onto Fang’s back afterward, still cheerfully shouting something as she settled herself in place. At the same time, something shot away from Jester’s back. The cape twisted rapidly through the air, its fabric expanding and becoming solid until it gradually took the shape of a woman.

A strawberry-haired woman appeared beside him, her hair tied and resting over her left shoulder, along with a figure that was...

Ah, forget it.

“So you enjoyed riding Vanessa that much that you decided to send me away, Your Highness?” Michel said with a pout.

Still in his pocket form, Jester tilted his head upward. From where he stood, he could barely even see Michel’s face past her rather excessive chest.

“Are you seriously assuming that just because I rode on her back? If only you could carry me through the air too, maybe I wouldn’t have needed to send you away in the first place.”

“Well, that’s a reasonable excuse.” Michel giggled. “In that case, I suppose I’ll take over Vanessa’s job and babysit Mira on the way back.”

“Michel, Mira doesn’t need babysitting! Mira is a good girl! Your Highness said so! Mira can go back by herself and sleep without causing any trouble. Mira promises she’ll behave and won’t do anything bad!”

“No!”

“No!”

“No!”

Michel, Vanessa, and Shade answered at exactly the same time.

Mira could only stare at them with a blank, confused expression.

Michel’s body then softened and unraveled, turning back into a cape before shooting through the air and attaching itself around Mira’s shoulders.

“Don’t worry. If Mira goes crazy again, I’ll just wrap myself around her face until she can’t breathe. If she can’t breathe, she can’t cause any trouble.”

“Michel! That’s mean! Mira said she’ll behave!”

Mira was still complaining when Fang turned around and dashed away. Her protests continued echoing from farther and farther into the distance, until Michel apparently made good on her threat and wrapped part of herself over the bunny girl’s face.

“Mmmph! Mmmphhh!”

Soon, Fang and Mira disappeared completely into the darkness.

Vanessa then lowered herself before Jester.

Unlike the noisy scene that had just left them, her expression was calm and serene, with a gentle smile resting on her lips. She extended one hand toward him, and Jester simply jumped onto her open palm.

Vanessa stood again. Then, rather than placing him on her shoulder or back, she carefully brought Jester against the front of her chest and secured him there with one arm.

His head was immediately pushed slightly forward. Mostly because he was currently trapped beneath the weight of two large, soft things pressing against him from both sides.

“Your Highness, this should keep you secure,” Vanessa said calmly. “You’ll also feel much less of the shaking while we’re flying.”

“Okay. This position is definitely better than clinging to your back the entire time.”

A pair of wings suddenly burst into view behind the vampire girl, unfolding from her back until they stretched wide behind her.

Nearby, Shade’s body collapsed soundlessly toward the ground like dark liquid being pulled downward. Her figure dissolved completely into shadow before flowing across the earth and merging with the darkness beneath Vanessa’s feet.

With everyone in place, Vanessa gave her wings a powerful beat.

Jester immediately felt his body rise with hers as they shot into the air. The sudden ascent pushed him deeper into Vanessa’s secure hold, but compared to riding on her back earlier, the movement was considerably easier to endure.

The rapid beating of wings filled his ears as Vanessa immediately picked up speed, soaring through the night toward their next destination.

By now, the battle between Rania’s army and the demons should have already begun.

And that was not all. If everything had developed as expected, three Demon Commanders should be involved in the battle as well.

Jester’s lips slowly curled into a thin smile, his eyes sharpening as he stared toward the distant battlefield.

Just how massive would the battle become once all of them truly started fighting?
