Chapter 1281: Chapter 1281 Cleric

Miss Su quietly released her spiritual sense and swept it over Jiang Chen.

Nothing.

No spiritual energy.

No cultivation fluctuations.

Not even the faintest trace of a hidden technique.

As far as her senses could determine, Jiang Chen was nothing more than an ordinary mortal.

That made the situation even stranger.

If he isn’t using cultivation, then how is he doing this?

Miss Su’s curiosity deepened.

She had encountered many experts and many unusual gambling techniques throughout her years running the Golden Fortune, but she had never encountered someone like Jiang Chen.

There was clearly a secret.

And she intended to uncover it.

She allowed a charming smile to return to her face.

“Let’s take another short break, Young Master Jiang Chen.”

She leaned slightly closer.

“I have some excellent wine in my private room upstairs. Would you like to join me for a drink?”

She spoke confidently.

Miss Su had enough experience with men to know that very few would reject such an invitation from a woman in her position.

Jiang Chen’s eyes immediately brightened.

“Really?”

He stood up without hesitation.

“Good! I’d love that.”

He gave her an eager smile.

“Lead the way, Miss Su!”

Miss Su’s smile deepened.

She turned around and began walking toward the stairs, secretly wondering just how many secrets this strange young man was hiding.

Behind her, Jiang Chen followed happily.

But beneath his excited expression, his eyes were calm.

So she’s finally getting serious.

Interesting.

They entered Miss Su’s private chambers, and Jiang Chen immediately understood why she had invited him upstairs.

The room was elegant and comfortable, far more luxurious than the gambling floor below.

Soft chairs were arranged around a small table, while several shelves were filled with neatly organized books.

Along one wall stood rows of fine liquor, each bottle seemingly more expensive than the last.

Ross looked around appreciatively.

“Not bad.”

He had no intention of making himself uncomfortable, so he immediately chose one of the soft chairs and sat down.

“It’s actually quite relaxing up here.”

Miss Su remained standing.

At first, her expression was still pleasant and welcoming.

But after Jiang Chen settled into his chair, her expression gradually changed.

The warmth disappeared.

Her beautiful eyes became sharp and calculating.

“How did you do it?”

The sudden question didn’t surprise Jiang Chen at all.

He leaned back comfortably.

“You mean how I cheated?”

Miss Su’s eyes narrowed.

“Yes.”

Ross smiled.

“It’s simple.”

He casually glanced at the liquor shelves before looking back at her.

“Or don’t tell me that only the house is allowed to cheat while the players aren’t?”

The amused expression on his face made Miss Su’s brows furrow.

That wasn’t the reaction she had expected.

Most gamblers who were caught cheating would become nervous, frightened, or immediately attempt to deny everything.

Jiang Chen was different.

He was sitting comfortably in her private chambers as though he were visiting a friend’s home.

There wasn’t even the slightest trace of fear in his expression.

More importantly, he had openly admitted that he had cheated.

Miss Su studied him carefully.

Where does his confidence come from?

She had already investigated Jiang Chen’s cultivation.

There was none.

She had also swept him with her spiritual sense and found no hidden expert accompanying him.

Yet despite that, he had walked into her private room without hesitation.

It was almost as though he wasn’t sitting inside the private chambers of the owner of one of the most powerful gambling houses in the region.

It was as though he were the one in control.

Miss Su’s frown deepened.

“Young Master Jiang Chen,” she said slowly, “you seem very confident.”

“I am.”

The answer came immediately.

Miss Su’s eyes flashed.

“Even after admitting that you cheated?”

Jiang Chen shrugged.

“Why wouldn’t I be?”

He smiled again.

“Besides, if your gambling house can use tricks to make customers lose their money, shouldn’t customers be allowed to have a few tricks of their own?”

Miss Su stared at him for several breaths.

She couldn’t decide whether Jiang Chen was incredibly bold or simply didn’t understand the danger he was in.

But one thing was becoming increasingly certain.

This young man was hiding something.

And now she was more determined than ever to discover exactly what it was.

Still, Miss Su wasn’t frightened.

She had managed the Golden Fortune for many years and had encountered all kinds of difficult customers.

Jiang Chen’s confidence might have been unusual, but she wasn’t about to be intimidated by it.

“Return the money you won,” she said coldly. “Once you do that, you can leave. From this moment onward, you are also permanently banned from entering the Golden Fortune.”

She gestured toward the door.

“You may go.”

Jiang Chen stared at her for a moment before breaking into an amused smile.

“I don’t think so.”

His tone remained completely relaxed.

“That money is mine. I won it fair and square or, at the very least, no more unfairly than the house operates.”

Miss Su’s expression darkened.

Jiang Chen leaned back in his chair.

“But I have another offer.”

Miss Su narrowed her eyes.

“What offer?”

Jiang Chen smiled mischievously.

“Kneel and acknowledge your new master.”

“What are y…”

Before Miss Su could finish her sentence, something completely unexpected happened.

Her body suddenly moved on its own.

“No!”

Her expression changed instantly.

She tried to stop herself, but her legs refused to obey her commands.

Step by step, she was forced forward.

Within a few breaths, she found herself kneeling before Jiang Chen.

Miss Su’s beautiful face became filled with shock and disbelief.

“How…?”

Jiang Chen looked down at her and laughed.

“See? That wasn’t so difficult, was it?”

He couldn’t help but feel pleased with the sight.

For someone who had been treated with disdain only moments earlier, seeing the proud owner of the Golden Fortune suddenly kneeling before him was certainly satisfying.

Miss Su gritted her teeth and desperately tried to regain control of her body.

Ross, meanwhile, remained completely calm.

He had no intention of immediately taking things any further.

In fact, he had already made up his mind about something.

Not her.

He glanced at Miss Su thoughtfully.

She was undeniably beautiful, but Ross wanted his first woman in this cultivation world to be someone who had never been involved with anyone before.

Miss Su had already experienced far more of the world than he wanted for his first relationship, and she even had a daughter.

Maybe someday.

Ross smiled faintly.

But not now.
