Liora continued studying the strange piece of wood, attempting to peer into its origins.

Unfortunately, unlike the lion statue she had obtained before, which was a complete and merely unborn Chaos God, this wood was merely a small fragment of the complete Chaos God.

Even with Liora’s power and insight, there were only a few things she could discover about it.

Thankfully, these few discoveries pleasantly surprised her.

First, she could now sense several more calls coming from the depths of the Land of Origin, similar to the one she had felt before.

However, unlike the previous call, whose source had been nearby, these new calls came from much farther away.

She strongly suspected that the calls came from other fragments of this Chaos God.

It was just that her sensing range had been smaller before, rendering her unable to sense them. Now, having obtained one fragment, it could serve as a key to enhance that range.

Aside from this discovery, what interested Liora as much were the secrets hidden within the piece of wood.

Deep inside it, beneath several layers of seals, she could see that something was being stored.

As her consciousness wrapped around the seals and began to undo them layer by layer, she soon discovered what that "something" was.

Numerous souls were sealed inside the wood, all belonging to creatures at the Ancient Devil level.

Their gazes were blank while their forms were indistinguishable, being floating specks of light.

Liora raised her eyebrows.

She reached out, grabbed one of the souls, and devoured it with a single gulp.

Soon, something strange happened.

No memories emerged in her mind.

The ability to obtain memories through soul devouring was granted to Greater Devils and grew stronger as they advanced. Yet now, it had actually failed for the first time.

It was as though Liora hadn’t devoured a soul at all.

However, she knew very well that this wasn’t the case.

The unmistakable sensation of devouring, along with the increase in Evolution Points, confirmed that notion.

Realizing this disparity, Liora narrowed her eyes.

She had a few guesses as to why this had happened.

Perhaps the souls had been sealed inside the wood for so long that they had become corrupted and their memories had been wiped away. Or perhaps someone had deliberately erased their memories before sealing them.

Either way, Liora had no intention of wasting the "treasure trove" she had found.

"Other people might be wary of such a coincidence and not dare devour them. After all, who knows whether these souls are part of some old monster’s scheme, and whether absorbing them might bring hidden dangers in the future?"

"However, I have nothing to fear. In a sense, I’ve never truly devoured any soul on my own. It’s the Evolution System that does the work for me. I merely obtain the benefits..."

As she spoke, Liora reached into the sealed space again. This time, she grabbed dozens of souls and tossed them into her mouth.

Her Evolution Points instantly soared.

Seeing this, she continued.

By the time she had devoured the last soul half a minute later, her points had reached the thousands.

Liora couldn’t help but sigh.

Sure enough, opportunities were just as important as talent on the path to becoming an apex powerhouse.

She had spent many days "working hard", hunting down Ancient Devils just to obtain Evolution Points. But now, by collecting a single piece of wood, she had gained more points than she had earned throughout all that time.

"Fate is truly unpredictable..." Liora whispered, a glint flashing through her eyes.

This piece of wood contained many ready-made souls of Ancient Devil-level creatures.

Would the other sources of the calls in her perception, which she suspected were also pieces of wood, contain the same secret?

Thinking this, Liora did not waste any time. She closed her eyes and tried to sense which call was the closest to her current location.

Moments later, her eyes opened again.

Her figure flashed as she passed straight through the cave walls and the formations she had set up, soaring into the sky and disappearing into the horizon.

--

In another part of the Land of Origin, corpses littered the ground.

Roots wrapped around their bodies, their tips burrowing into their skin like veins and pulsating eerily as they absorbed their strength.

At the center of this gruesome scene stood a beautiful woman.

She had emerald-green hair and eyes of the same color, along with delicate features and pointed ears that gave her an otherworldly appearance.

She could very well be mistaken for a Wood Elf.

As beings grew stronger, they naturally became more beautiful, a result of the evolution and perfection of their bloodlines and genes.

Yet even among powerhouses of the same level, this woman stood out.

Unfortunately, few would appreciate her beauty if they witnessed the scene before them.

After all, the tentacle-like roots came from none other than the woman herself.

They grew from her lower body like legs, drawing strength from her enemies as they writhed eerily.

Feeling the essence of so many Ancient Devils flowing toward her, the woman remained calm.

She raised her hand, revealing the strange object resting in her palm.

It was relatively small, barely the size of a human fist.

Had Liora been here, she would have recognized it immediately.

It was a piece of wood, closely resembling the one she had obtained earlier.

The color was the same. The patterns were the same.

Yet the woman’s reaction to it was completely different than that of Liora.

She didn’t seem to sense any call coming from it, nor had she discovered the seals hidden deep within it.

Instead, she stared at it intently, her eyes burning with fervor and excitement.

"I can sense it... I can sense it..."

"This time, it will surely awaken... This is my only chance..."

"After so many years... It’s time..." The Willow God Demon Lord whispered under her breath, her voice growing increasingly frantic toward the end of her speech.
