Chapter 315 Ch-315: The Future and Exposed
There was dead silence in the room, and the only sound that could be heard was the heavy breathing of Valerie, who was staring at her mother like she had seen a ghost.
"I did not hear wrong, Mother. Did you say you have a Warlock Bloodline?" Valerie asked again in a measured tone.
"No, you heard me correctly. I did say I have a Warlock Bloodline," Susan said with a roll of her eyes and an amused smile plastered on her face. Clearly, she was enjoying the look of disbelief on her disobedient daughter’s face.
"What kind of Bloodline did you awaken, and when? Is it some kind of Bloodline used for spying? Did you spy on me?" Valerie fired one question after another in succession and looked at her mother with suspicion.
Susan’s eyebrows twitched when she heard the last accusation. "Calm down. I did not spy on you. This Bloodline has nothing to do with spying."
"So what does it do, and how strong is it in a fight?" Valerie asked, crossing her arms and looking at her mother.
Susan shook her head and replied calmly, "This Bloodline I awakened at the start has nothing to do with combat. My Bloodline is called Clairvoyance, which allows me to see bits of the future."
"Future?" Valerie’s pupils constricted to the size of needles when she heard her mother and looked at her with wariness. Any Bloodline related to time, even if it only allows you to see bits of the future, is still dangerous. Just think about it: your enemies plan an ambush, and you get a vision of their attacks and plan a counter-ambush with triple the number of soldiers.
"Do you remember how, at the start, I avoided many Awakeners who wanted to join us or even rejected the opportunity to buy profitable Dungeons?" Susan pointed out as Valerie started to think.
Indeed, her mother had rejected recruiting talented Awakeners and refused to buy Dungeons that could be profitable, which displeased many elders of the Valemont Family. But later, they learned that many of them were spies or criminals, and the Dungeons, after being explored, were not worth the money. Those who bought them suffered huge losses and had to file for bankruptcy. After that, Susan’s position in the family became unshakeable, and everyone trusted her.
"I see. No wonder," Valerie exclaimed.
"See, my Bloodline is not that powerful. It’s not for spying," Susan said calmly.
Valerie gave her mother a blank look and thought, And you say this is not for spying? This is even more dangerous than a Bloodline used for spying.
"Wait a minute." Suddenly, Valerie realized something. Her eyes widened, and she sharply looked at her mother. "Did you also see some kind of future about Victor? Is that the reason you asked me to pursue him and broke my engagement with Julian?"
Hearing this, Susan did not reply for a long time and casually took a sip of tea from the cup on the table, crossed her legs, and looked at her anxious daughter before replying, "Yes, I did see a future involving him and you."
"Oh, what did you see?" Valerie asked with curiosity.
A teasing smile appeared on her face as she replied, "I saw you and him get married, and you also had kids with him, and one of them became the future leader of the Valemont Family."
Hearing this, Valerie flushed, and then her face turned as red as a tomato as she said with a stammer, "Y-You are joking."
"Heh, why do you think I told you to pursue him? But... that’s not the main reason I want to build connections with him. He has another secret identity besides being Faceless," Susan said in a solemn tone, and even Valerie, who had lost her composure, suppressed her embarrassment as she looked at her mother with a frown.
"What is it?" Valerie asked.
"Victor, Amber, and even Rina you met, the guards at his house, all are NPCs from the game world," Susan dropped a bombshell, and Valerie’s body went rigid as her eyes widened. She looked at her mother as if she had said something impossible, like the sun was a ball of ice.
"I-Impossible, how can that be?" Valerie said as cold sweat trickled down her forehead. She wanted to report it, but thinking about how broken Victor was, along with Amber and Rina, it made sense.
"Also, his name is Victor Silvernum. In that world, he was a Baron. Remember where you got the Mech from?" Susan pointed out, and Valerie recalled the mission to defend the Barony.
Wait, didn’t that NPC Baron also use Black Lightning like Faceless? Valerie’s face turned pale with fright as she slowly figured out everything.
"Holy shit," Valerie cursed.
"And that’s not all, my daughter. You see, from my vision, I learned that both worlds will merge, and many top countries will be destroyed and replaced by Kingdoms. You became one of the Queens of the Kingdom, and the Valemont Family became a powerful noble family in the Silvernum Kingdom," Susan said with a grave tone. She shuddered just thinking about the war that happened on Earth.
Valerie looked at her mother with disbelief and, after regaining her composure, asked, "Queen? Me? From what I know, Victor is still a Baron and not a King."
As soon as she said this, a new text appeared on her Retina.
[Ding Dong]
[Earth Server announcement]
[The player Faceless is the first one to complete a Hidden Legendary Quest]
Valerie froze as she read the sudden announcement, and her heart seemed to beat faster.
She opened the system interface and opened the saved locations of the game, and her eyes widened at what she saw.
[Silvernum Kingdom]
The previous Silvernum Barony had been changed to Silvernum Kingdom.
"He really became King," Valerie whispered, and now she believed her mother 100%.
"Heh, looks like he did it," Susan said and then paused. "Daughter, I will share the vision of the war on Earth with you. I hope you put more effort into getting him into bed with you after you see this."
Before Valerie could respond, Susan waved her hand, and Valerie’s vision blurred.
Vision
"Where am I at?" Valerie found herself in the middle of New York. She could recognize its features, at least half of what was left.
"This is New York... What happened here?" Valerie found herself in a completely destroyed place, with flames burning in a nearly ruined city. It didn’t take long before she witnessed things she could never have imagined, as the USA seemed to be at war.
There were monsters fighting one another—dozens, or perhaps hundreds of thousands of them—as she witnessed the battlefield before her eyes.
The aura radiated by the monsters left her feeling weak, faltering at the thought of how the world could come to this, filled with darkness.
Valerie was alarmed by what she saw in front of her, for she had no idea how she had ended up there or what was happening, leaving her with a certain panic, as she had no control over anything at this moment.
All she could see ahead was what should have been New York, transformed into a battlefield of ruins and destruction, as a battle she could never have imagined was unfolding—a clash between thousands of creatures fighting each other, while the sky was completely dark, with the sun casting only a faint light through the black clouds.
Boom Boom Boom
"That’s... Mechs!" Valerie’s eyes widened with disbelief when she saw the Mechs that she got from the Silvernum Territory, and these Mechs also had the crest of Silvernum.
"Mother... what she said was true. NPCs could really come to Earth." Valerie’s expression turned grim when she saw this and panicked when she saw a fireball heading towards her. She froze, thinking she would die, but to her shock and relief, it passed through her body. She realized she could not touch anything, as this was just a vision, and she became relaxed and started walking through the city.
Not only Silvernum, she saw many unfamiliar forces and races clashing with the armies of various countries.
After everything settled, and she managed to avoid being crushed by stones dozens of times her size, she sighed, a bit shaken, wondering how this could be happening and what those creatures were. What caught her attention was what she saw next: beings made of shadows fighting other monsters in the distance.
"Amber, Rina, and holy, that’s me..." Valerie’s eyes widened to the size of saucers when she saw herself fighting alongside Amber and Rina, and they appeared to be much older and much more powerful.
BOOOOOM
"Holy..." Her mouth hung open when she saw herself transforming into gigantic dragons and launching a breath attack towards the army of monsters, and a huge mushroom cloud appeared in the distance like multiple nuclear missiles had exploded.
Rumble
The sky turned dark as black lightning fell down on the monsters, and a very handsome man appeared before her.
"Victor..." she said in a daze.
