One was Michael, the newly ascended Emperor whom everyone was desperately searching for.

The other was a beautiful woman with an ethereal appearance.

Naturally, she was none other than Lunara, the Rank 5 ghost currently accompanying Michael.

Not wanting to miss an opportunity to steal, no, work hard for an Evolution Essence Crystal from Michael, she had left him no choice but to bring her to the Land of Origin, since he couldn't do so comfortably in the Origin Battlefield.

It was definitely not because he was scared that, with his identity now widely known, some Demigod from the outside world would try to assassinate this body.

Currently, neither of them was in particularly good condition.

Michael's situation was especially miserable.

His entire lower body had disappeared.

From slightly above his waist downward, nothing remained, and a thin layer of ice covered the severed area.

Only his upper torso, shoulders, arms, neck, and head remained intact, and even those were covered in terrible injuries.

His abdomen ended in a horrifying wound where his lower body should have been.

Yet, despite his condition, Michael was still conscious.

He was floating several meters above the bottom of the hole, supported by the remnants of his supernatural power.

Or rather, Lunara was helping him remain suspended.

After all, Michael's mana reserves were in an equally miserable state.

At the moment, he had barely enough mana left to perform even the simplest supernatural techniques.

Almost everything had been swallowed by the uncontrolled Divine Ability.

Even now, he could feel an uncomfortable emptiness within his body.

"Ugh…"

Michael groaned again.

The pain was difficult to describe. It wasn't merely the sensation of having half his body destroyed.

Although the attack had lasted only an instant, its effects were far more severe than those of ordinary injuries.

The worst part was that he had done this to himself.

"Are you finally awake enough to understand what you've done?"

"…"

An irritated voice sounded beside him.

Michael slowly turned his head.

Lunara was floating nearby with her arms crossed.

Her beautiful face was twisted with anger, and her usually stable ghostly body occasionally flickered.

Even the powerful aura surrounding her appeared somewhat unstable.

Clearly, she hadn't escaped the incident completely unharmed.

If it hadn't been for her, he might have actually died this time.

Michael opened his mouth.

However, before he could respond, Lunara continued.

"If you have a death wish, that's your business. Why must you involve me?!"

She pointed angrily toward the darkness surrounding them.

"Do you have any idea how dangerous that thing was? Even I nearly got dragged into it!"

Michael remained silent.

To be honest, he couldn't argue with her. After all, she was right.

He had been the one who recklessly attempted to reproduce Lily's Divine Ability, and when things went wrong, Lunara had been forced to intervene.

"If you want to die so badly, then go ahead!"

"I won't stop you!"

Lunara snorted before adding,

"Of course, before you die, make sure you transfer all your property to me."

Michael's lips twitched.

What a shameless ghost.

He had just lost half his body, and she was already thinking about his inheritance.

Wasn't that a little too much? Nevertheless, he decided not to argue with her.

Ignoring the gold digger's complaints, Michael endured the pain coursing through his body and summoned one of his engraved undead.

Although his engraved undead manifested as tattoos on his body, they were connected to him on a much deeper level.

If it weren't for this, losing half his body could have resulted in the destruction of at least half of his engraved undead.

Although such destruction wouldn't necessarily mean permanent death for them under suitable circumstances, restoring them would take considerable time, leaving Michael severely weakened.

A stream of ash escaped from Michael's body and began forming a figure.

The ash gathered in front of him, gradually taking on a humanoid shape.

Within a few seconds, the outline became increasingly distinct.

First came a pair of slender legs, followed by a curvaceous body and two arms.

Finally, the ash gathered around the head before completely disappearing, revealing a young woman.

She appeared to be in her mid-twenties.

Her figure was particularly voluptuous, with a generous bust and well-proportioned curves.

However, rather than wearing armor or some elaborate supernatural attire, she was dressed in a fitted black-and-white nun's outfit.

The clothing followed the contours of her body, contrasting with her otherwise solemn appearance.

Her long, dark hair fell neatly down her back, while a pair of clear green eyes rested beneath her delicate brows.

She was undoubtedly beautiful. However, her expression was cold, almost emotionless.

Even after materializing in such a dreadful environment, there wasn't the slightest trace of surprise on her face.

The woman simply stood there, looking toward Michael before bowing slightly.

Naturally, she wasn't an ordinary human.

She was the Life Worm Michael had obtained from the academy more than half a year ago.

Unlike most of his undead, whose strengths leaned toward combat, the Life Worm possessed exceptionally powerful healing abilities, which Michael had never neglected to develop.

Over the past several months, he had repeatedly strengthened the creature, gradually improving both its grade and healing capabilities.

By now, the Life Worm had undergone such enormous changes that it barely resembled the creature Michael had originally obtained.

In fact, it was already one of his engraved undead.

Considering its unique abilities, this wasn't surprising.

After all, while Michael possessed numerous powerful combatants, there were considerably fewer undead capable of providing effective healing support.

With only twenty engraving slots available, Michael naturally wanted to make full use of them.

A creature with such unique healing abilities was an obvious choice.

Furthermore, like most of his other engraved undead, the Life Worm had already been evolved to the three-star Epic grade.

The exceptions were Spartan, Beginning, the Demonic Elder, and the Undead High Drake.

Michael did not pay much attention to the undead nun by his side and hurriedly asked her to heal him.

As for why she was dressed in a nun's outfit?

Don't ask Michael.
