The wolves were to stay in Tera’s clan until the following week.

Her task had basically started, but she needed to wait for the week to pass for her to be able to use the portal again, especially after how she had eaten into next week’s supply.

It would take at least a week and a half before she had enough passes to start transporting materials, let alone ferry an entire pack back to their territory.

But the wolves had said it wasn’t necessary and wouldn’t mind the few hours’ run back to their territory.

Even though it saddened them to leave the clan.

Tera noticed this and insisted they still stay for that week. That way, by the time the wolves had made their way back to their territory, Tera would be able to actually transport the materials they needed, and she would also bring her clan members along to help with the construction.

Using both clans to work on the task would help her quickly finish things.

The shelters had been the more interesting conversation.

When Tera mentioned that the wolves would be getting their own housing, the reaction had been mixed. Several wolves shifted uncomfortably.

"We sleep outside," one of the older males said, as if this were a point of pride rather than a symptom of having no other option.

"You sleep outside because you’ve never had the choice not to," Tera replied. "I’m not forcing anyone into a shelter. But what I’m building for you won’t look like ours."

She was well aware of how unsettled they were by the full covering.

But her mention of something different from what they were seeing got their attention.

"It will be different?" Faelynn asked.

"Completely. Your territory, your terrain, your needs. The design will suit your pack, not mine." She smiled. "I think you will like it very much, in fact."

The curiosity that rippled through the wolves was subtle but unmistakable. Even the sceptical ones couldn’t fully suppress their interest.

That had been three days ago.

Now, Tera sat on the grass near the nursery, watching the combined chaos of her clan’s cubs and the wolf pups attempting to play together. Nadia had discovered that wolf cubs were bigger than her and had responded to this revelation by headbutting every single one of them.

Puff Dumpling gleefully copied her actions.

Althea, true to form, was sitting apart from the group with Luth, the two of them engaged in what appeared to be a very serious conversation conducted entirely through hand gestures and occasional grunts.

Tera smiled and leaned back on her palms, but a commotion near the fire pit caught her attention.

Three of the older cubs—two from her clan and one of the bolder wolf cubs who had apparently been adopted into their ranks overnight—had gathered a crowd. The younger cubs were seated on the ground in a loose semicircle, legs crossed, eyes enormous, and utterly transfixed.

It took Tera a moment to realise what she was watching.

"AND THEN," one of the older cubs bellowed, puffing out his chest and spreading his arms wide, "the beast was THIS big. Bigger biggest. Bigger than EVERYTHING."

"It had seven eyes," another added solemnly.

It did not have seven eyes.

"And teeth like THIS." The wolf cub bared his own very small, very non-threatening fangs and curled his fingers into claws, hunching his back in what was apparently supposed to be menacing. The younger cubs gasped on cue.

Tera’s mouth fell open.

"And leader did not even FLINCH." The first cub planted his feet and squared his shoulders, mimicking what Tera could only assume was supposed to be her. He was doing a voice. It was deeper than her actual voice by at least an octave. "She said, ’YOU DARE COME TO MY TERRITORY?’ And then she—and she opened the sky—"

"She cut the sky open," the second cub corrected.

"She CUT the sky open, and the beast SCREAMED—"

The wolf cub threw himself to the ground, writhing and howling in what was clearly meant to be the beast’s death throes. The younger cubs shrieked with delight.

Then the third cub, the smallest of the performers, took three running steps, launched himself into the air, and executed a full backflip.

It had absolutely nothing to do with anything that had happened during the fight.

The audience lost their minds anyway and started clapping.

’What the fuck?’

Tera pressed her hand over her mouth, her eyes stinging. Her shoulders were shaking. She couldn’t tell if she was about to laugh or cry, and she suspected the answer was both.

The wolf cub was still on the ground, tongue lolling out, playing dead with an enthusiasm that suggested he had been waiting his entire life for this role.

Tera looked away before she lost it completely.

The days since the fight had settled into something almost peaceful. The terror of the corrupted beast was fading into the background as the routines of clan life reasserted themselves. Meals were cooked, cubs were chased, the farm was tended, and the wolves were slowly learning how to exist within the Dow clan’s space without stepping on anyone’s tail.

But Tera’s mind kept drifting.

Not to the construction, the system’s tasks, or even to the sponsors. Though those were never far from her thoughts.

{BeastWorldAddict watches the cubs play excitedly}

{PervyGoddess is bored}

She was getting used to them.

Sort of.

It was like having a livestream audience that she couldn’t see but could always feel. They popped in and out at random, left comments that ranged from insightful to deeply unhinged, and occasionally dropped gifts of currency that made the system grovel with gratitude.

It was still strange, and Tera hadn’t fully wrapped her head around the implications. These were higher-dimensional beings with power she couldn’t quantify, and they were watching her life like entertainment. The gifts were nice. The nipple donations were very nice.

But the tasks they might eventually assign her sat in the back of her mind like a stone she couldn’t quite swallow.

What would beings like that even want from someone like her?

Her gaze drifted across the settlement and landed on Calis.

He was helping two of her clan members carry a stack of dried hides across the clearing. The muscles on his arms flexed with each step, and when he turned to say something to one of the beasts, the movement exposed the line of his throat.

Tera’s eyes traced it.

Then they dropped lower.

His chest was partially visible through the loose hide covering, and the hard planes of muscle shifted beneath his skin as he adjusted his grip on the stack. His hips moved with the fluid, predatory grace that wolves carried even in their human forms, and the way his loincloth hung low on those hips made Tera salivate.

She pressed her thighs together without thinking about it.

She looked away and stared very hard at the cubs.

{PervyGoddess has returned}

’Of course you would!’

{PervyGoddess smiles mischievously and says Tera should give in to temptation}

Her mind circled back to what she had promised herself before the fight. The full course meal that would be her reward.

The cave had been very lovely, but she wished she could spend a more relaxing moment with him and take her sweet time.

Now there was time.

And Tera was very, very hungry.

Her gaze slid back to Calis. He had set the hides down and was wiping his forehead with the back of his hand. A bead of sweat ran down his temple and along his jaw.

She glanced sideways to where Xavi was sitting with Nadia on his lap, carefully braiding her short hair. Ermin was beside him, his tail curled around Althea, who had migrated from Luth to her father’s side.

They were also looking tantalising lately.

But three males might be a little overkill for one night, even for someone with Tera’s appetite.

{PervyGoddess senses senses are tingling}

{PervyGoddess sits up straight}

[( ’’?°ヮ°? )]

Tera wanted to laugh. If she were the one, the system would be berating her by now and calling her a degenerate.

Her gaze strayed to Calis once again.
