Extraordinary Demon King Soldier
Chapter 1496 - 1493: Mural
The famous painting depicts a scene where many people dressed in white are kneeling towards an altar, while a person in a black robe stands in front of them, holding something aloft, with both hands lifted in a triumphant gesture, accepting the adoration of the crowd.
"Who are they worshiping?" Fang Wushang asked Ye Qiu curiously.
Ye Qiu examined the mural carefully, slowly shook his head, and said, "It seems like they are not worshiping the person, but rather the thing in the black-robed person's hands."
Hearing Ye Qiu's words, Fang Wushang immediately leaned closer to the mural to investigate.
While studying, Fang Wushang carefully observed the black-robed man and said, "What is he holding? It looks like a mirror."
Upon hearing Fang Wushang's guess, Ye Qiu, who initially wasn't very interested, suddenly became more attentive. If it were a mirror, could it possibly be related to the Jade Mountain Kunlun Mirror?
Ye Qiu also leaned closer to study the mural carefully; the more he looked at the object in the black-robed man's hands, the more it resembled a mirror, but he couldn't be sure if it was the Jade Mountain Kunlun Mirror.
Noticing Ye Qiu's expression, Fang Wushang asked, "Is this object related to what you're looking for?"
"I am indeed searching for a mirror, but I don't know if the mirror in his hand is the one I'm after."
Fang Wushang nodded thoughtfully and said, "Perhaps it really is connected, at the very least we can't miss any clue. Maybe the mural holds more information, let's continue searching."
Ye Qiu nodded. "Alright."
With that, the two of them began searching in front of the mural. The stone wall recorded many events, but most of the information had nothing to do with the mirror.
"Ye Qiu!"
Suddenly, Fang Wushang shouted from the other side, and Ye Qiu walked over to her side, asking, "What's the matter?"
"Look!"
Following Fang Wushang's pointing finger, Ye Qiu saw that in the mural before them, the black-robed man appeared again, holding something that resembled a mirror. Only this time, the object was depicted more clearly.
Ye Qiu studied the mural carefully, but this time it wasn't a scene of worship. It appeared to be in a plaza where beasts were attacking them. The black-robed man raised the mirror in his hand, and somehow, the beasts began disappearing into the mirror.
Seeing this, Ye Qiu felt more certain that the mirror in the black-robed man's hand was likely the Jade Mountain Kunlun Mirror.
"This mirror could very well be the one I'm looking for," Ye Qiu said to Fang Wushang, somewhat excitedly.
Hearing Ye Qiu's enthusiasm, Fang Wushang's eyes also lit up, "Really? This mirror is the one you're looking for?"
"It should be!" Ye Qiu nodded, "Though I can't be absolutely sure, it resembles the one I've been searching for."
Previously, a man in traditional clothing had told him that the Jade Mountain Kunlun Mirror's space was vast enough to contain many things.
And in the mural before them, didn't the black-robed man capture the beasts attacking them into the mirror? It aligned with the functionality described by the man in traditional dress.
"But how can we find this mirror? The mural only documents the mirror but doesn't tell its whereabouts."
Ye Qiu thought for a moment and said, "Let's keep looking. There are many murals left to examine."
Hearing Ye Qiu's suggestion, Fang Wushang continued to search the murals, thinking for a moment before moving to the other side to keep looking.
As Ye Qiu was searching, he suddenly heard a clattering sound. In the silence of the space, this additional noise made Ye Qiu become alert, and he looked towards the source of the sound.
When Ye Qiu looked over, he discovered a black cat on the altar, playing with a stone.
Ye Qiu sighed in exasperation and glanced at the black cat, intending to continue his search. But his gaze suddenly froze on the black cat, or more accurately, on what was beneath the black cat's paw.
Because he noticed that the stone under the black cat's paw was actually a round stone, and it was evidently carved by human hands.
Seeing the carved stone under the black cat, Ye Qiu felt puzzled. Why would there be a manually carved stone at this altar? What was this stone meant for?
Thinking this, Ye Qiu slowly approached the black cat.
The black cat pressed the stone under its paw, looking up at Ye Qiu with a curious gaze that seemed to ask: What do you want?
Ye Qiu raised his hand and slowly reached beneath the black cat's paw. Upon seeing this, the black cat stepped back, revealing the stone it had been holding.
It was a flat, circular stone, with strange patterns etched on it. The only pattern Ye Xiu could recognize was the auspicious cloud motif; the rest of the symbols, Ye Qiu either didn't know or couldn't distinguish.
"Ye Qiu, what's going on?"
Seeing Ye Qiu staring blankly at the object in their hands, Fang Wushang asked in confusion.
"Come and take a look," Ye Qiu said to Fang Wushang, "Don't you think this stone is unusual?"
Fang Wushang, puzzled, walked up to Ye Qiu, "This stone... What is this stone used for? It's definitely carved this way for a reason, right?"
Ye Qiu nodded and said, "This stone at a sacrificial site must serve a purpose. Let's see if we can find a groove that matches this stone, a place where it fits."
Hearing Ye Qiu's words, Fang Wushang immediately nodded and asked, "How did you find this stone?"
Ye Qiu chuckled and said, "The black cat just now kept playing with this stone, catching my attention. When I picked it up, I discovered it was indeed quite unusual."
With these words, Fang Wushang laughed, glancing at the black cat and said, "Maybe the black cat wanted to get your attention by playing with the stone."
With Fang Wushang's suggestion, Ye Qiu also felt it might be true. Perhaps, from some mystical guidance, the black cat was indeed aiding him.
Thinking about this, Ye Qiu gently patted the black cat's head. It seemed to enjoy Ye Qiu's touch so much that it sprawled out on the altar, purring contentedly.
Ye Qiu smiled at the black cat and began searching with the stone in hand.
He checked all around the walls, looking for a groove that matched the stone's shape, but could not find any. Staring at the stone surface, Ye Qiu fell into deep thought.
