Chapter 1500 - 1497: Assassinating the Mage

The mage immediately tossed Muta aside, meeting Ye Qiu's sword head-on.

Mere seconds later, the mage could see for himself and instantly felt at ease. The only thing left to strive for now was to kill this mage and obtain the Jade Mountain Kunlun Mirror.

After blocking Ye Qiu's initial strike, the mage frowned and asked, "Who are you? How did you get here?"

Ye Qiu looked at the mage and snorted coldly, "There isn't a place in this world that I can't go to!"

The mage stared at Ye Qiu, desperately trying to remember who exactly Ye Qiu was and why he had come here.

"This is not a place you can come to casually. Since you're here, I'm afraid you won't be able to leave easily either!"

"I've always gone wherever I please, and no one can stop me!" Ye Qiu glared at the mage. "I've seen many like you who wield power to control others. If I want to kill, I kill. What can you do to me?"

Recognizing the combative stance, the mage developed a murderous intent towards Ye Qiu and glanced at Muta, saying, "Seems like you two are in cahoots."

"I'm going to expose you to everyone, let them see what kind of person you truly are!" Muta said angrily, glaring at the mage.

The mage snorted dismissively, "So they'll believe you?"

After speaking, the mage looked coldly at Ye Qiu and said, "You shouldn't have overestimated yourself by coming here."

Hearing the mage's words, Ye Qiu rolled his eyes to the sky and thought about how every person he encountered was so arrogant.

"Since you're so powerful, why not prove it by your actions? Let's see if your strength truly matches your boasts.

"Fine!" the mage said to Ye Qiu, "Since you wish for death, I'll grant it!"

With that, the mage charged toward Ye Qiu and soon they were engaged in a fierce battle. Ye Qiu, with his sword in hand, swiftly attacked, magic clashing with sparks that flashed like lightning surrounding them both.

Muta watched Ye Qiu in amazement, surprised that Ye Qiu's strength was so formidable, matching the mage's prowess.

Though in Muta's eyes, Ye Qiu's strength seemed evenly matched with the mage's, Ye Qiu's actual strength and extensive combat experience showed that the mage was hardly a match for him.

Yet even so, Ye Qiu remained vigilant, fearing the mage might suddenly reveal the Jade Mountain Kunlun Mirror. Though Ye Qiu knew the Jade Mountain Kunlun Sword was formidable, the extent of its power was unknown. If the mage suddenly used it to finish him off, it would be a tremendous misfortune.

The mage was thrown to the ground by Ye Qiu, looking at Ye Qiu with unwillingness.

Ye Qiu held his sword at the mage's throat and said, "Seems your strength is just that."

"Where did you even come from? Why have I never seen you before?"

Hearing the mage's words, Ye Qiu chuckled coldly and said, "Where I came from is none of your business. All you need to know now is that you failed."

With that, Ye Qiu's eyes turned cold as he prepared to end the mage's life!

Suddenly, the mage looked at Ye Qiu and said, "What do you want? I can give you anything you desire!"

Hearing the mage's offer, Ye Qiu snorted coldly, "What do I want?? I want you to kneel before Muta."

Muta was taken aback by Ye Qiu's words, and his face was filled with emotion.

The mage's expression turned cold upon hearing Ye Qiu and said disdainfully to Muta, "You actually want me to kneel to a useless coward."

Upon hearing the mage's words, Ye Qiu's grip on the sword tightened as he coldly said to the mage, "Muta is not a coward."

The mage snorted coldly, "Not a coward? Someone who couldn't even save his own family—what is he, if not a coward?"

"You're lying!" Muta suddenly burst out hysterically, glaring at the mage, "This is all your conspiracy!"

"Conspiracy?!" The mage looked at Muta as if he was an idiot and said, "Even if it was all my conspiracy, it was your inability to protect them that led to their tragic deaths."

"You're lying! You're lying!"

Muta seemed crazy, repeating these words, hatred growing more intense in his eyes. Suddenly, Muta saw a dagger on the ground and quickly grabbed it, pressing it against the mage's throat, "I, I want your life to join my family in the grave!"

"Heh!" The mage suddenly laughed coldly and said, "The one who defeated me was this person, not you. Borrowing someone else's hand for revenge—how will you face your family?"

The mage's words seemed to reach into Muta's heart, casting his eyes back into doubt.

Seeing this, Ye Qiu immediately said to Muta, "Muta, don't believe him. Have you forgotten our promise?"

Hearing Ye Qiu's voice, Muta's eyes gradually returned to sanity, filled with pain as he looked at Ye Qiu, "No, no, he's right."

Muta's eyes showed a despondent expression, "It's all my fault. It was my inability to protect my family that led to their deaths. I've always avoided this topic, deceiving myself, trying not to think about it, but I know, even if I run away, I can never forget my family dying in front of me."

Ye Qiu looked at the suddenly despondent Muta and said, "Muta, don't think that way. None of this was your fault."

"If it's not his fault, then whose fault is it?" The mage coldly said to Muta, "He abandoned his family for wealth and power, that's his choice. Now he regrets it and blames others for killing his family. As a man, can you call yourself one if you shirk responsibilities and blame others for your mistakes?"

"Shut up!"

Ye Qiu's sword moved closer to the mage's neck, "I didn't give you permission to speak!"

The mage smirked slightly at Ye Qiu and said, "I don't know where you came from, but I can see you're very capable. Why not join us? If you join us, I'll give you whatever you want."

Ye Qiu looked at the mage and smiled coldly, "You better shut your mouth, or I can't guarantee your tongue will stay intact."

Upon hearing this, the mage smiled slightly and then closed his mouth, no longer speaking.

Meanwhile, Muta sat on the ground, scratching his head in regret, with an expression of frustration on his face.
