Extraordinary Demon King Soldier
Chapter 1502 - 1499: Slaying the Mage
Ye Qiu was saying this while his eyes were firmly fixed on the mage's Demon-Revealing Mirror. Although there was a mocking smile on his face, in reality, his heart was racing with tension.
Upon hearing Ye Qiu mock him, the mage's face turned livid with rage, his expression becoming almost hideous, "You're courting death!"
It was no wonder the mage was furious, as his face was covered with totems, looking as if someone had painted on it with a brush, which explained why he always wore a hat and was reluctant to show his face.
Suddenly, a strong light burst out from that mirror.
Upon seeing this, Ye Qiu immediately pulled Muta to jump aside, and the strong light hit the spot where they had been standing, leaving scorched earth in its wake.
It seems that the mage's greatest weapon is this mirror and his Illusion Technique.
Ye Qiu looked at the scorched earth, his eyes nervously watching the mirror, not expecting such a destructive result from just a single light from the mirror.
"Ye Qiu!"
Muta looked at Ye Qiu with great anxiety as this was his first time witnessing the power of the Jade Mountain Kunlun Mirror, and he was extremely afraid.
"Don't worry!" Ye Qiu turned back and gave Muta a reassuring look.
Ye Qiu didn't know if he would be completely dead if he indeed died here, but he knew he must kill this mage, as such a person remaining would only be a scourge.
The power of the Jade Mountain Kunlun Mirror is immense, but its destructive power is so strong that gradually, it was discovered that this Jade Mountain Kunlun Mirror had a problem: it required a lengthy chant to unleash its effect.
Ye Qiu realized this flaw and immediately smiled, "Hey! Mage, your ultimate skill's cooldown is too long!"
"What?" The mage looked at Ye Qiu with a confused expression.
Ye Qiu smiled coldly and, seeing the mage still hadn't reacted, he immediately flew up to engage the mage in combat.
Ye Qiu's moves were extremely fast, rendering the mage almost incapable of fighting back, and he couldn't wield the Jade Mountain Kunlun Mirror effectively, soon finding himself at a disadvantage.
Finally, Ye Qiu discovered the mage's weakness and thrust his Longsword into the mage's chest.
The mage looked incredulously at the Longsword piercing his chest and then at Ye Qiu, unable to believe he would actually die at Ye Qiu's hands, even while possessing the Jade Mountain Kunlun Mirror.
"Do you know why you lost?" Ye Qiu looked down coldly at the mage and said.
The mage looked at Ye Qiu with eyes full of confusion and unwillingness, unable to understand how he had lost and begrudgingly accepting his fate of dying at Ye Qiu's hand.
"You relied too much on the Jade Mountain Kunlun Mirror." Ye Qiu laughed coldly, picking up the Jade Mountain Kunlun Mirror from the ground, "The Jade Mountain Kunlun Mirror is indeed a treasure, but giving up your cultivation because of it is where you went gravely wrong, for one day when you lose it, you'll be nothing more than an ant trampled underfoot."
After hearing Ye Qiu's words, the mage's face turned ashen grey, then he opened his eyes again, looking at Ye Qiu and saying, "I lost."
With that, the mage closed his eyes, lifeless.
"Muta, he's dead." Ye Qiu said to Muta, "Now you can settle those matters in your heart."
Muta stared at the dead mage for quite a while before slowly nodding, his eyes filled with disbelief that the mage was truly dead.
Suddenly, Muta picked up a dagger and stabbed at the mage frantically, who knows how many times he stabbed the mage's body.
Ye Qiu watched the frenzied Muta without stopping him, understanding that if Muta didn't release his pent-up emotions after all these years, it might harm him.
After a long while, Muta sat on the ground, panting heavily, the madness in his eyes gradually receding.
"He, he's really dead, he's dead!" Muta mumbled, "Father, Mother, I've avenged you, Xiuzhu, I've avenged you all."
After a while, Muta looked at Ye Qiu and said, "Ye Qiu, thank you, thank you for helping me fulfill my wish."
Ye Qiu politely shook his head and said, "It's merely the same destination via different paths, you don't have to dwell on it. Now that he's dead, you are truly free. Have you thought about where you will go from here?"
After hearing Ye Qiu's words, Muta's eyes showed some confusion, and after a while, he said, "I don't even know where I should go, my home has been destroyed by him, where should I go?"
After hearing Muta's words, Ye Qiu fell silent. He wasn't from this world and had no way to help Muta.
"Ye Qiu, the Jade Mountain Kunlun is now yours."
Muta looked at Ye Qiu and said, "You can take it with you."
Ye Qiu nodded, picked up the Jade Mountain Kunlun Mirror and held it in his arms, saying, "Indeed, I must take the Jade Mountain Kunlun Mirror, I cannot leave this thing to you."
Muta smiled bitterly and said, "To me, it was a nightmare, a cursed object, I don't want it at all."
Ye Qiu nodded at these words, understanding the saying "one man's poison is another's treasure."
"I am sorry, I must go and cannot stay with you. I hope you take care of yourself." Ye Qiu said, looking at Muta.
Muta nodded, "Thank you, and I hope you also take care."
Ye Qiu nodded upon hearing and then turned to leave.
Ye Qiu had done everything he could to help Muta; he only wished in his heart that Muta could take care of himself in the future and start a new life.
With the Kunlun Mirror in his hand, Ye Qiu slowly walked towards the grand hall. He had come from there; presumably, the way back would be there as well.
The grand hall was still empty. Ye Qiu walked step by step onto the throne, and when he sat on the throne and opened his eyes again, Fang Wushang was looking at him with a worried expression.
"You finally woke up!" Fang Wushang exclaimed with joy as he hugged Ye Qiu immediately upon seeing him awake, "Wuwu, you finally woke up. You scared me to death; you've been sitting here for so long without moving, I thought you were dead!!"
Ye Qiu looked at Fang Wushang's tear-streaked face, lifted his hand to wipe the tears and said, "Sorry for making you worry."
With Ye Qiu now awake, Fang Wushang's heart finally settled, and while wiping away the tears, he asked, "Why did you suddenly become motionless while sitting here? You really scared me. Staying here alone, you have no idea how terrified I was, even that black cat was like you, no matter how much I called, it didn't move."
