Extraordinary Demon King Soldier
Chapter 1510 - 1507: Starlight
Ye Qiu didn't immediately set out to continue looking for the way back. He saw the starry sky and was deeply captivated by it; Ye Qiu lay down and began to savor this magical scene.
Even though he had been busy all day, Ye Qiu didn't feel a hint of hunger or thirst. He began to speculate that this wasn't the real world, at least not the world he lived in. Ye Qiu relaxed, even if only for a moment, he wanted to escape this cruel world.
It was as if the world had only himself left; Ye Qiu felt he could sense every movement in this world, snowflakes falling, the sound of the wind blowing...
"Is there really no one else in this world?" Ye Qiu muttered to himself as he lay in the snow.
Slowly, it seemed as though Ye Qiu immersed himself in this world; he started to feel that it didn't matter if he returned or not. After all, there was nothing he absolutely had to do, and no one was waiting for him...
Just as Ye Qiu was thinking this, tears began to flow uncontrollably again...
Why? Why? Why can't I remember that person, yet I cry for him? Who exactly is he...
"Ye Qiu, I love you..."
What's happening? Ye Qiu heard a voice, but when he got up and looked around, there was nothing but vast white snow. "I clearly heard a voice..."
"Who is it? Who's talking to me?" Ye Qiu started to feel anxious and uneasy. He wanted to find the person who made that sound, but there was not even a single blade of grass around, let alone people.
But at this moment, Ye Qiu noticed a bright spot; maybe he hadn't paid attention just now. There was a shining point at the top of the snow mountain, very similar to the starlight, which is why it went unnoticed.
Ye Qiu wiped away his tears, made up his mind, and began to move up the mountain.
The light was continuously gleaming. Ye Qiu always felt like he had seen that glow somewhere before. Perhaps it was an illusion, but Ye Qiu felt it was a very sorrowful light.
After three hours, Ye Qiu finally reached the mountain top. To his surprise, he discovered a small cabin made of wood, and nothing else was on the mountaintop except the cabin. The light shining from inside the hut was the one Ye Qiu had seen from the mountainside; he was drawn toward it.
"Hello, is anyone there?" Ye Qiu knocked on the door. Although knocking on someone's door this late at night wasn't ideal, anyone living in such a place couldn't be ordinary.
After knocking a few times, no one responded. Ye Qiu tried to open the door, finding it unlocked, and with a little force, he pushed it open.
Upon opening the door, Ye Qiu did not find anyone.
Inside the room were just coarse tables and chairs, with no books, food, clothes, or any trace of human presence. The air inside was chilling to the bone, with only a single lit candle on the table.
The room's air felt colder than outside. Why was it so cold indoors? Ye Qiu couldn't understand, and was this faint candlelight the light I saw earlier?
Ye Qiu took a lap around and found another door in the house, but this door was very peculiar, noticeably different from other things in the house. It was covered with a thick layer of frost.
Ye Qiu could sense something behind the door. It could be human, or perhaps not, but Ye Qiu knew he must open this door.
The feeling grew stronger.
Ye Qiu gave the door a push, and the simple door at the deepest part of the room opened halfway. The narrow opening meant that even Ye Qiu, who wasn't tall among boys, had to bend down to get through. In the depth of the room, a small, dark, curled-up figure let out a groan.
What is that?
"Hello?"
Ye Qiu greeted the thing, and by now, Ye Qiu probably knew what kind of situation he was dealing with.
To confirm his assumption, Ye Qiu walked over to the thing.
In the bizarre room at the furthest part of the house, all illumination relied solely on the flickering orange candlelight. There were no windows, and the brilliant lavender starlight couldn't penetrate. In the dim attic-like room, one could see a small, dark object resting there.
Ye Qiu's eyes were fixed on the small dark thing that resembled a pile of cloth.
He approached step by step, gently extended his hand, and spoke softly:
"Are you there?"
The thing didn't respond to Ye Qiu. Ye Qiu didn't give up and continued trying to communicate.
"How should I address you?"
"Calling you the Profound Celestial Ice Sword seems a bit out of place, and the name is rather cringe-worthy."
Upon hearing Ye Qiu mention Profound Celestial Ice Sword, the thing trembled slightly.
Yet it still didn't respond to Ye Qiu.
"Is this the inside of the sword? Or should I say, it's your inner world?"
"Because of the unsealing, I've entered your inner world."
Unknowingly, Ye Qiu had walked right up to the thing.
A black cloth covered the object; Ye Qiu slowly bent down and gently lifted the cloth.
A young girl, bare as the day she was born, curled up before Ye Qiu's eyes.
"Hello, my name is Ye Qiu."
Ye Qiu tried his best to restrain his astonishment because he felt it would be impolite to the girl.
Finally, the girl lifted her head.
Ye Qiu's gaze met with the girl's light.
Ye Qiu took off his coat and wrapped it around the girl. What he did next, Ye Qiu wasn't sure why he acted, only that his body moved instinctively.
Ye Qiu picked up the girl, ready to leave the room.
As Ye Qiu lifted the girl, she didn't resist. But when she saw Ye Qiu was about to take her outside, she began to struggle violently.
The girl's sudden resistance startled Ye Qiu, and he stopped in front of the door.
"You don't want to go out?"
The girl's entire body trembled, as if afraid the weak candlelight would scorch her; she feared the world outside the room.
"Don't worry, I will protect you."
Before the girl could respond, Ye Qiu rushed out of the room, bypassing the candle-lit area, and went straight outside.
"Ahhhhhhhhhhhhhh!" By the time the girl realized it, they were already outside.
The girl screamed in panic.
"Alright, alright, it's okay!"
The girl seemed to not hear Ye Qiu's words, continuing to scream while struggling with her hands and feet.
Though she wasn't strong, Ye Qiu dared not hold her too firmly, fearing he might hurt the girl in his arms. At that moment, a slip of his hand caused him not to hold her securely.
The girl broke free; they both fell into the snow.
Ye Qiu quickly got up to check if the girl was okay.
Even after falling in the snow, the girl kept struggling, like someone from the south seeing snow for the first time, happily playing in the thick snowdrifts.
Seeing the girl like this, Ye Qiu slowly squatted down and held her tightly once again.
