Extra's Life: MILFs Won't Leave the Incubus Alone
Chapter 598 - 593: Surge
The power surge had been strong enough that the outer corridor wards still carried a faint echo when Aiden stepped out of the chamber ten minutes after Selene. He banked his power carefully, smoothed his clothes, and walked as if nothing had happened.
Selene stood at the far end of the hall, speaking with a junior acolyte about the evening watch rotation. Her posture was perfect. Only the faint marks on the side of her throat and the careful way she stood gave anything away. She did not look at him as he passed.
He felt the bond between them anyway—thin, warm, still open at the edges.
Two hours later the warning bell sounded in the strategy hall. Selene was already there, reviewing the ward records with her usual precision. Elizabeth sat opposite her. Aiden took the empty seat.
Selene’s eyes flicked to him once. The power around her pulsed, just once, in quiet recognition. Then she turned the inscribed tablet toward the others.
"Unscheduled power surge in chamber seventeen," she said. "It rose past the marked measure by a full two-fifths. Lasted near half an hour. The outer wards held. No spill into the main bindings. The power came from two sources only."
Elizabeth’s gaze moved between them. "Two sources."
"Yes." Selene’s voice stayed level. "The wards registered it as strange but contained. I will write it in the ledgers as controlled power release during a private attunement rite."
Elizabeth’s mouth curved slightly. "Is that what we’re calling it now?"
Aiden met her eyes without flinching. "It stayed inside the chamber. No one else felt it."
Elizabeth held his gaze a moment longer, then nodded once. "Then keep it that way. The northern road is still quiet. We don’t need power noise inside the walls drawing eyes from outside."
The meeting moved on. Supply counts. Road-watch rotations. The usual work of keeping the outer wards stable and the supply lines from the lowland stores intact.
Aiden spoke when needed, noting a shortfall in ward-stone for the eastern posts and recommending a shift from the secondary stores. Elizabeth approved it without comment. Selene marked the decision and updated the rotation tablet.
When the meeting ended, Elizabeth left first. Selene remained seated, the bond still faintly linked to his.
Aiden waited until the door sealed.
"You all right?" he asked.
Selene looked at him. The professional mask slipped just enough to show the heat still sitting under it. "I can still feel you. Every time I shift in the chair."
"Good."
She stood, walked around the table, and stopped in front of him. Her power opened a fraction wider. "The ledger entry will hold for now. But if we keep doing that, someone is going to demand a full power reading."
"Then we give them one." He reached up and brushed his thumb over the faint mark on her throat. The current flared warm under the contact. "Or we stop."
Selene’s eyes narrowed. "Don’t be stupid."
She leaned down and kissed him—slow, deliberate, the bond threading tighter between them. When she pulled back her voice was quieter.
"Same time tomorrow still stands. But next time we use the inner chamber. The wards there are heavier. And you don’t tear the only shift I had in that room."
Aiden’s mouth curved. "I’ll bring a spare."
She straightened, power banked again, and left without another word.
The bond between them stayed open the rest of the evening—low, steady, and impossible to ignore. Aiden returned to his quarters and ran a standard power settling on himself, marking the leftover current as minor after-effect of a private rite. The measures matched what Selene would put in the official record.
He ate a simple meal from the common stores, checked the northern road status one more time through the secondary tablet, and went to sleep with the connection still present at the edge of his awareness.
Morning brought the usual rounds. Aiden walked the outer corridors, inspected the ward-stones for any leftover power from the previous day’s surge, and found none.
The bindings had held cleanly. He met with the road-watch captain to confirm the eastern patrol schedules, then spent an hour in the archives cross-checking older surge records against current measures.
Nothing in the old ledgers matched the strength of the chamber seventeen event, but the containment had worked. That was enough for now.
By late afternoon he collected a spare dark shift from the supply stores—plain, standard issue, the kind given to junior ranks for private rites—and headed for the inner chamber wing.
The heavier wards there were reserved for strong power work and restricted rites. Access required two power marks. He pressed his palm to the stone and waited.
Selene arrived five minutes later. She marked the door with her own power, and it sealed behind them with a solid thump. The power field closed around them at once, muting everything beyond the stone. No corridor echo. No secondary wards listening. Just the chamber and the two of them.
She had changed into a plain dark shift. The marks from the day before were still visible on her throat and hips.
"You brought the spare," she noted.
Aiden dropped the folded cloth on the side table. "As ordered."
She stepped in close, power already rising to meet his. "Good. Because this one is coming off."
He didn’t rush her this time. He backed her against the wall slowly, mouth finding hers in a deep, unhurried kiss while his hands slid under the shift and pushed it up. She lifted her arms and let him strip it off.
The power climbed in measured degrees instead of a sudden surge. He felt the difference immediately—the denser wards kept the power tighter, more contained, so every rise stayed local.
When he lifted her, she wrapped her legs around his waist. He carried her to the bed and laid her down. For a long moment he just looked at her—marks, open power, the way her breathing had already changed.
"Still want it rough?" he asked.
Selene’s answer was a low pulse through the bond. "Yes. But not only rough."
He understood.
He kissed his way down her body, power open and feeding every point of contact back into her. When his mouth settled between her thighs she arched with a soft, broken sound that was nothing like the raw cries of the day before.
He took his time—slow strokes of his tongue, two fingers sliding into her, the current tracking every flutter and pulse. She came the first time with her hands in his hair and his name spoken like a confession.
Only then did he move up her body and push into her.
The first thrust was deep and controlled. The wet sound of it was quieter than before, but the power lock flared hard. Selene’s legs tightened around him. He set a steady, heavy rhythm—long strokes that bottomed out every time, power running nearly parallel so every sensation moved both ways.
"Look at me," he said.
She did. The power between them brightened. He kept the pace deliberate, watching her face, feeling every clench and shiver through the bond. When she started to shake he slowed even further, grinding deep, until she came again with a long, shaky moan that vibrated through both of them.
He followed soon after, buried to the hilt, power flooding the shared space one last time before it began to settle.
They stayed joined while their breathing evened. Aiden’s forehead rested against hers. Selene’s power remained open, warm, and steady around his.
"That was different," she said eventually.
"You asked for it."
"I did." She traced a slow line down his spine. "The record from yesterday is already written. Elizabeth didn’t ask further questions. The northern road is still quiet. We have a window."
Aiden shifted his weight but stayed inside her. The bond held steady. "How long a window?"
"Long enough if we stay careful. The next full power reading isn’t set for another twelve days. As long as we keep the surges inside the inner chambers and bank the leftover properly, the ledgers will show controlled release."
He nodded. The denser wards made that possible. Chamber seventeen’s lighter bindings had been a risk; this one was built for strong power work.
He could feel the difference in the way the power settled—no lingering echo against the walls, no secondary resonance that might trip a corridor ward.
Selene’s fingers continued their slow path along his back. "Elizabeth suspects. She won’t push as long as the northern road stays quiet and the supply lines hold. But if another surge hits the outer records, she’ll demand a full reading."
"Then we don’t give her another surge on the outer records."
"Agreed." She shifted under him, power pulsing once in quiet satisfaction. "Tomorrow same time. After that we’ll need to space it. Road-watch rotations grow heavier in three days. I’ll be on the eastern posts for a full cycle."
Aiden considered that. The eastern posts sat closer to the fault lines. Higher ambient power meant any personal bond would be harder to notice, but it also meant longer separations. The connection between them could stretch that far, but it would thin.
"You’ll feel it from there?" he asked.
"If we keep it open." She met his eyes. "Do you want it open?"
"Yes."
"Then leave it. I’ll bank the excess on my end. You do the same."
He kissed her once, brief and firm, then pulled out and rolled to the side. The power field stayed linked, lower now, stable. Selene sat up, reached for the spare shift, and pulled it on. The fabric settled over the marks without comment. She ran a quick self-check on her power, adjusted the banking, and nodded to herself.
"Clean," she said. "No power past the chamber threshold."
Aiden dressed as well. His own power read stable. The denser wards had done their work. He collected the discarded shift from the floor and folded it. Selene took it from him and set it with the spare.
They left the chamber together. The corridor outside felt cooler, the silence of the inner wing giving way to the low ambient hum of the outer wards.
No one was in sight. Selene’s professional mask settled back into place as they walked. At the junction she turned toward the strategy wing.
"Evening rotation in twenty minutes," she said. "Don’t be late for the supply review."
"I won’t."
