Extra's Path: The Eternal Frost Monarch
Chapter 375: Elliot Verlvek (2)
The pavement fractured beneath him. A network of cracks raced toward Morgana, spreading across the street like a monstrous spiderweb.
Her eyes widened. The next moment, pillars of fire erupted from the fractures.
BOOOOOOM!!
An enormous explosion engulfed the street.
Flames surged into the sky, swallowing everything in their path. The nearby buildings trembled as their foundations cracked, while the scorching air swept through the surrounding streets.
Yet Elliot didn’t bother looking at the destruction.
His crimson eyes remained fixed on the center of the explosion.
A dark silhouette emerged from the flames.
Morgana stood amid the inferno, her spear held firmly in one hand.
A dense veil of darkness surrounded her body, shielding her from the worst of the flames. Her violet blouse and black trousers were slightly singed, but she appeared otherwise unharmed.
Her amethyst eyes glowed ominously.
The darkness around her spear surged. The atmosphere changed.
A terrifying pressure descended upon the battlefield as the darkness gathered around Morgana’s weapon. It twisted and writhed, gradually taking the shape of a colossal dragon coiled around the spear shaft.
Its black scales seemed to absorb the surrounding light.
Elliot raised an eyebrow.
She vanished.
[First Form: Black Dragon’s Fang]
A black streak pierced through the air. Morgana appeared directly before Elliot, thrusting her spear toward his chest.
The attack was terrifyingly fast, and the darkness concentrated at its tip possessed enough penetrating force to pierce even reinforced magical barriers.
Elliot’s smile disappeared. He twisted his body and raised his flaming sword.
CLANG!
The spear struck the blade. The two weapons remained locked together. Then the darkness concentrated at the spearhead erupted, releasing a narrow wave of destructive force.
BOOM!
Elliot was blasted backward.
He landed several meters away, his boots carving deep grooves into the pavement. Before he could regain his balance, Morgana was already upon him.
"You’re not going anywhere!"
She swept her spear sideways.
Elliot ducked beneath the attack and swung his sword toward her waist. Morgana rotated her weapon, catching the flaming blade against its shaft before driving her knee toward his abdomen.
He blocked with his forearm.
The collision sent another shock wave through the street.
Both fighters retreated simultaneously, creating a brief distance between them. Elliot glanced at his arm, where a thin trail of blood trickled from a shallow wound.
His expression grew slightly tense.
She thrust her spear forward again.
[Second Form: Abyssal Coil]
The darkness surrounding the weapon suddenly expanded.
Instead of attacking in a straight line, it spiraled outward like a gigantic black serpent. Its twisting body swept through the air, wrapping around Elliot’s sword arm before coiling toward his torso.
The dark coils tightened.
KRRRKK!
The pavement beneath Elliot’s feet cracked as the enormous pressure dragged him toward Morgana. His expression revealed genuine surprise.
"That’s troublesome."
He released his sword with one hand and snapped his fingers. The flames covering his weapon exploded outward.
BOOOOM!!
Fire and darkness collided, filling the street with a blinding flash.
The abyssal coils trembled under the heat, but Morgana immediately tightened her grip on her spear.
The dragon-shaped darkness shook violently. Its coils tightened around Elliot once more, dragging him forward despite the raging flames.
Morgana pulled her spear back.
The moment Elliot entered her range, she thrust with all her strength.
He barely managed to turn his body aside.
The spear grazed his shoulder, tearing through his clothing and leaving a deep wound. And it’s force left a destruction behind him.
Blood splattered across the air.
Elliot’s eyes narrowed.
Morgana followed with another thrust, then another, her spear moving like the fangs of a dragon hunting its prey.
CLANG! CLANG! CLANG!
Elliot parried the first attack, deflected the second, and narrowly avoided the third. Each collision forced him farther backward.
Then his red eyes flashed. He slammed his palm against the hilt of his sword.
The flames surrounding the weapon abruptly changed.
Their bright orange color darkened, turning a deep crimson. Countless fiery patterns spread across the blade, forming intricate markings that resembled the scales of some ancient beast.
The temperature rose sharply. The remaining windows along the street shattered at once.
Morgana felt the heat pressing against her skin.
Elliot raised his sword.
He swung downward. A colossal arc of crimson fire descended upon Morgana, cleaving through the darkness and swallowing the entire street in its wake.
Morgana’s eyes narrowed.
She thrust her spear forward, and the darkness coiled around its tip.
[Third Form: Devouring Dragon]
The black dragon opened its jaws. A spiraling vortex of darkness erupted from the spearhead, expanding into a massive whirlpool that swallowed the incoming flames.
The two forces collided.
BOOOM!!
The explosion shook the enire district.
Crimson fire poured into the vortex, twisting and writhing as the darkness devoured it layer by layer. The surrounding buildings were battered by the shock wave, their walls collapsing beneath the tremendous pressure.
For several seconds, neither side yielded. Then Morgana twisted her spear. The black vortex suddenly contracted.
The remaining flames were swallowed whole.
Elliot’s eyes widened slightly.
But before Morgana could capitalize on his surprise, he disappeared into the smoke.
A sharp whistle came from behind her.
She immediately turned.
His sword was already descending toward her neck.
CLANG!!
Morgana blocked the strike with her spear, but the tremendous force drove her to one knee.
The ground beneath her shattered in several meters.
Elliot pressed down with his sword, his crimson eyes meeting her glowing amethyst ones.
"You’re distracted."
"Shut up!"
Morgana released a burst of darkness from her body.
The sudden eruption forced Elliot to leap backward. She rose to her feet, spun her spear, and sent a crescent-shaped wave of darkness toward him.
He sliced through it with a single swing.
Yet that attack had never been intended to hit him.
Morgana’s gaze shifted toward the distant sky.
Far beyond the collapsing buildings, a small figure riding a massive ice sword was disappearing into the darkness.
Noah. ’Good. He’s far enough away.’
A faint smile appeared on her lips. Now she could fight without worrying about him getting caught in the crossfire.
The darkness around her spear surged once more.
Elliot noticed the change in her expression.
"Oh? You’re finally getting serious?"
Morgana lowered her stance.
"Don’t flatter yourself. I was simply holding back because I had someone to protect."
The black dragon coiled around her spear lifted its head, releasing a deafening roar.
"Now..."
Her amethyst eyes glowed like two stars in the abyss.
"Let’s see how long you can last."
[Fourth Form: Dragon of the Eternal Abyss]
The darkness exploded outward. A colossal dragon emerged from the tip of Morgana’s spear, its enormous body stretching across the sky. Its scales were formed from layers of condensed darkness, while its glowing eyes burned with a terrifying, almost sentient fury.
The dragon opened its jaws. The surrounding light seemed to vanish into its enormous maw. Then it charged.
The black dragon tore through the street, devouring everything in its path as it surged toward Elliot.
His expression finally turned serious. He planted his feet firmly on the ground and raised his sword with both hands.
"Then I’ll meet you head-on!"
Crimson flames erupted from his body, spiraling upward until they formed the silhouette of an enormous flaming beast behind him.
The two colossal manifestations rushed toward each other.
BOOOOOOOOOOOOOOM!!
The collision unleashed a cataclysmic explosion.
A pillar of darkness and crimson fire shot into the sky, illuminating the burning capital.
The shock wave swept through the surrounding district, reducing already damaged buildings to rubble and sending fragments of stone flying in every direction.
Neither combatant backed down.
The black dragon clawed at the flaming beast, its enormous jaws snapping at its throat. The beast retaliated with blazing strikes, each impact causing the surrounding space to tremble beneath the immense magical pressure.
At the center of the devastation, Morgana and Elliot clashed again.
Their weapons moved too quickly for the eye to follow.
Darkness and fire intertwined, spreading across the battlefield like a raging storm.
Neither had the luxury of underestimating the other.
And neither seemed willing to yield.
Meanwhile, Tharlyssa was having a rather irritating time.
"Ugh! Stop following me!"
She twisted in midair, narrowly avoiding another enormous sphere of darkness.
Morgana was not only fighting against Elliot but also chasing Tharlyssa.
The sphere passed beside her and crashed into a building behind her.
BOOM!
The entire upper floor collapsed. Tharlyssa clicked her tongue and accelerated, her crimson eyes fixed on the distant figure of the white-haired boy.
’That woman is really annoying!’
She had initially intended to deal with Morgana quickly before pursuing her adorable target. Unfortunately, the instructor’s relentless attacks had made that impossible.
Even now, several dark spheres were chasing her like persistent hunting beasts.
Tharlyssa abruptly changed direction, diving between two buildings.
The spheres followed. She gritted her teeth.
Blood-red mana gathered around her feet. With a sudden burst of speed, she shot out of the narrow street and soared above the rooftops, leaving the pursuing spheres to crash into the buildings below.
Then she spotted him again.
A white-haired figure flew through the night sky on a massive ice sword, moving away from the burning World Tree.
Tharlyssa’s eyes lit up.
"There you are, baby!"
A delighted smile spread across her pale face.
She leaned forward, accelerating toward Noah’s direction.
"Wait for me! I’m coming!"
Behind her, the distant sky continued to tremble with the clash of darkness and crimson flames.
But Tharlyssa paid it no mind. She had found her target. And she had no intention of letting him escape a second time.
