Chapter 2692: Transcendence Pond

Lin Feng kept his eyes closed and studied for over ten days like this, yet still couldn’t see what was peculiar about it. But he had at least found a rough direction. If things were really as he suspected, he would have to wait until after founding his Sect and then study it carefully. With his current level in Formations, he still couldn’t crack it.

He thought of his own ascension experience, then recalled the tragic experiences of other Ascenders, and couldn’t help sighing in his heart at his own luck. If he had ascended to this place like they did, there might not be a Lin Feng of today at all. With that thought, he felt even more urgency to establish a Sect, gather the Ascenders, give them a stable cultivation environment, and ensure their safety.

After getting up, Lin Feng led everyone out of the Ascension Hall.

They rested one more night in the Holy City, then continued on their way. The Frost Highland in the Northern Part was extremely far; the time spent on the road was far too long. Fortunately, Miss Peng had Tao Tao as company, and Ma Biaohu had Miss Peng to accompany him, so the one who feared boredom most no longer shouted about being bored every day.

Unknowingly, another half a month passed. On this day Lin Feng brought the Aurora to a halt, wanting to use his Divine Sense to probe where exactly they had arrived. But the moment his Divine Sense spread out, he sensed a peculiar aura. He couldn’t quite say what was wrong about it. Then he flew into the air and cast his gaze down toward the ground.

Directly beneath him, a stretch of crimson lake caught his attention. He felt that this aura was emanating from that lake, so he returned to the Aurora and asked Tangyuan, "I see a huge red lake below us. Do you sense anything special about it?"

"I don’t feel anything special, but I think I know what place you’re talking about." Tangyuan stared wide-eyed at Lin Feng.

"What place?" Lin Feng asked quickly. He had already guessed Tangyuan might know, given how many books Tangyuan had eaten.

"This is very likely the Transcendence Pond, one of the ’one sect and three gods’ in the Myriad Heavens Divine Realm!" Tangyuan said with utter seriousness. Then it spat out a book from its mouth and started flipping madly with its little claws. The only red lake it could think of was the Transcendence Pond, and judging by where they were flying, this should be within the range of the Transcendence Pond.

"Transcendence Pond..." Lin Feng repeated. He truly was surprised; he hadn’t expected that by stopping here on a whim, he would actually find the Transcendence Pond, one of the three coexisting powers in the Myriad Heavens Divine Realm. But he hadn’t expected the Transcendence Pond to look like this.

When he had just arrived in the Myriad Heavens Divine Realm, he’d already heard the reputation of the three gods: the Myriad Gods Tower, the Transcendence Pond, and the Land of All Gods. He decided he had to go down and take a look. His Sect wasn’t founded yet; if he could establish ties with these powers, it would surely help with founding the Sect in the future. The Myriad Gods Tower was already a very good example.

Though he had never been to the Transcendence Pond, he had heard a lot about it before. This was a place of opportunity for cultivators, a land where danger and chance coexisted. But to most cultivators, this place was tremendously alluring; even if it was dangerous, it was worth it as long as their strength could grow. If cultivators were all afraid of death, they wouldn’t have chosen this path.

With that in mind, he decided to go down and take a look. Then Lin Feng said to everyone, "I’m going down to check it out. Tangyuan, Tao Tao, and Miss Peng, you three stay inside the Aurora."

He did this to ensure their safety. After all, if the Transcendence Pond was dangerous, he and Ma Biaohu would find it easier to retreat—bringing women along was really inconvenient. But Tao Tao looked at Lin Feng and said, "Brother Lin, I want to go with you."

Hearing Tao Tao’s words, Lin Feng could only smile helplessly. Thinking that Tao Tao had enough strength to protect herself, he then nodded, and put Miss Peng, Tangyuan, and the Aurora into the Cave Heaven Mansion.

Lin Feng took Ma Biaohu and Tao Tao and flew down from the sky to the ground, then approached the blood-red lake on foot. The closer they got, the more Lin Feng felt the intense aura emanating from the lake. It was a kind of powerful pressure, yet not something emanating from a human body. Just what was going on?

Once they drew near the Transcendence Pond, Lin Feng finally felt that powerful aura grow stronger and stronger. The lake before his eyes was only ten thousand miles across, yet its surface was unruffled, as calm as a mirror. And since this Transcendence Pond was supposed to be a place as famous as the Myriad Gods Tower, its current behavior was truly abnormal—he hadn’t seen a single person, which was definitely suspicious.

"Brother Lin, this place feels strange," Tao Tao said, following behind Lin Feng. She looked at the blood-like lake water and couldn’t help feeling some fear. Moreover, the lake water didn’t flow at all, as if it were fake. Just what kind of place was this?

"Boss, why don’t we just leave?" Ma Biaohu chimed in.

Lin Feng nodded slightly, looking toward the lake’s surface, his brows arching as he pondered for a moment before saying, "I also feel something’s not right."

But since they were here, how could they leave so easily? The stranger things were, the more interested Lin Feng became. He sent out his Divine Sense and probed around the lake, but to his surprise, he still found nothing at all. Not to mention people—he didn’t even see a single Demon Beast, nor did he detect any Barrier or informative markings.

His Divine Sense couldn’t probe the situation at the bottom of the lake. Lin Feng felt that there had to be something to gain within these waters. With no other choice, he called out toward the scarlet lake, "I, Lin Feng, humbly request an audience with Senior."

Though he didn’t know whether there would be a response, being polite was never wrong.

"Rumble, rumble, rumble!"

As soon as Lin Feng finished speaking, the ground beneath them shook violently, and something astonishing happened. The scarlet lake suddenly split open with a massive crack, crimson lake water surging hundreds of feet into the air. Like a canyon, it divided the lake into two halves, forming a passage within the water. A transparent barrier seemed to hold the waters apart, the scene incomparably spectacular.

From within that passage walked out an old man in a red robe, looking to be around fifty or sixty, his face glowing with vitality and spirit. He strode straight to Lin Feng, stopped in front of him, and asked, "You are Lin Feng?"

The moment those words fell, Lin Feng was so shocked he was momentarily speechless. He had never seen this elder before, so how could the elder know his name? This was far too strange.

Seeing Lin Feng’s expression, Jing Po gave him a faint smile, understanding his confusion, and explained, "That old fellow Fan Yun said you saved his son, that you’re a benefactor of his Myriad Gods Tower. Seeing you today, you’re actually this young."

He had also heard Lin Feng’s famous name from Fan Yun. Previously he hadn’t quite believed it, feeling Fan Yun’s praise was too exaggerated. But now that they met, he couldn’t sense any aura at all from Lin Feng’s body, which truly exceeded his expectations.

After hearing Jing Po’s words, Lin Feng finally understood. Just from this brief encounter he could feel that this elder was very easy to get along with. Since he could call Fan Yun "old fellow," he was certainly the Sect Master of the Transcendence Pond. Lin Feng could sense the aura of a powerhouse on him—at least at the level of a Half-Step Divine Emperor. He then respectfully clasped his hands and said, "Greetings, senior."

Jing Po laughed heartily and asked Lin Feng, "Why have you come here?"

"To be honest, senior, I was originally planning to go to the Frost Highland in the Northern Part. Passing by here, I saw this was the legendary Transcendence Pond, so I came over out of curiosity to take a look." Lin Feng spoke frankly.

Seeing Lin Feng being so candid, Jing Po immediately took a liking to this young man and then said to him, "Come with me."

Lin Feng, Tao Tao, and Ma Biaohu followed Jing Po into the passage, but the instant they stepped in, the lake water closed up again, as if it had never opened at all.

——————————————

Surrounded by scarlet blood-like water, Tao Tao felt an intense sense of dread. The passage was like a transparent tunnel, wrapping everyone inside. They couldn’t see the end of it; it was as if it wanted to swallow them whole. She timidly said to Lin Feng, "Brother Lin, this water looks just like blood. It’s so scary."

Lin Feng took Tao Tao’s hand and comforted her, "Don’t be afraid."

Ma Biaohu, on the other hand, grew interested as he looked at their surroundings. He had never seen a lake of such color. But within this Transcendence Pond he could clearly feel the temperature was higher than on the surface, and the deeper they went, the more he sensed a powerful aura. He couldn’t help wondering what was going on.

They walked along this tunnel for an hour before finally emerging from the crimson surroundings. What appeared before their eyes was actually a mysterious underground palace. The palace spanned only a few thousand miles around, yet it was grand and unique. Its exterior was entirely built from stones like rubies, shining with flowing red light. At a glance, the whole palace seemed to be bathing in flames.

"Wow!" Seeing the scene before him, Ma Biaohu grew even more excited. He felt the Transcendence Pond was truly mysterious, and there was some kind of force calling to him.

The three of them then followed Jing Po into the main hall. As if aware that guests were arriving, twelve Elders were already seated on either side of the hall. Seeing Lin Feng approach, they each nodded to him. Jing Po arranged for Lin Feng to sit in the guest seat, then rose and flew to the throne carved from a massive red stone at the center of the hall, saying, "Young Friend Lin, these are the twelve Elders of the Transcendence Pond."

Looking at the twelve elders seated on both sides, Lin Feng could feel the powerful aura emanating from them. Moreover, he sensed these powerhouses were quite different from the strong experts he had encountered before. He then respectfully clasped his hands to the twelve elders and said, "Greetings, seniors."

Jing Po said to Lin Feng, "Since you passed by the Transcendence Pond, you are fated with it. You are Fan Yun’s friend, which means you are also my friend."

After hearing this, Lin Feng smiled and voiced the question in his heart, "Thank you for your favor, senior. I don’t understand why this place is called the Transcendence Pond. Is it because of that red lake outside?"

"Not quite. The reason it is called the Transcendence Pond is because beneath this palace lie twelve divine pools, specially prepared as places for cultivators to advance." Jing Po explained, "Many cultivators come here by reputation, but this old man doesn’t host just anyone. Since you and I are fated, I can let you and your friends give it a try."

The Transcendence Pond is different from the Myriad Gods Tower. It is not an institution focused on commerce, and it doesn’t have many people. The entire Transcendence Pond has only a few hundred members, mainly devoted to cultivation, so it is basically a power that does not contend with the world.
