Fairy Tail : I am Ankhseram

Chapter 610 - 610: The Dragon Eater Takes Another L

That was right.

When Ankh shook Misaki's hand earlier, he had immediately sensed an unusual trace of divine power inside her.

It wasn't anywhere near as pure as the power carried by a true divine inheritor, but it was still reinforcing her body considerably.

Based on Ankh's deduction, the most likely explanation was the dragon Misaki had consumed—

the Azure Dragon.

That dragon must once have become a divine inheritor itself. After Misaki devoured its flesh, part of that divine power had been passed on to her along with its Dragon Slayer power.

Of course, inheritance through flesh diluted the divine power considerably.

Erza was a similar example.

As Irene's daughter, she had inherited traces of Life Divine Power, but for the most part it simply enhanced her constitution and natural talent like a passive ability. She could occasionally use it to assist Ankh, but actively manipulating divine power herself was another matter entirely.

Even so, Misaki already possessed Fifth-Generation Dragon Slayer Magic.

Add a passive divine enhancement on top of that, and she was practically another version of Erza.

In other words—

she had stumbled directly into the current meta.

"Judging by the way her magic works, she probably inherited the power of Chronos, God of Space."

As Ankh spoke, he remembered something Anmixiu had once told him.

That kid's divine power also came from Chronos.

In a strange way, father and son had ended up inheriting powers tied together across the flow of the timeline itself.

If Fairy Tail and Diabolos became close enough in the future, perhaps he could dump Anmixiu on Misaki as a student…

Then another thought occurred to Ankh.

He turned toward Selene.

"You and Ignia are all called the Five Dragon Gods. You should all possess divine power too, right?"

"What did you inherit?"

Ever since meeting Selene, Ankh had vaguely sensed something buried deep inside her.

But he had never been able to identify whose power it was.

She concealed it extraordinarily well.

More importantly, she seemed to have absolutely no intention of ever using it.

Selene's eyes immediately began drifting away from him.

"The Five Dragon Gods did indeed inherit the powers of gods."

Ankh waited.

Nothing else came.

He blinked.

"I'm asking what your divine power is."

He leaned slightly closer.

"And why you've kept it sealed this whole time."

Selene quietly turned her face away.

Then, with the practiced grace of someone extremely experienced at avoiding questions, she began talking in circles.

"Well, divine power isn't really something you can describe as simply using or not using. Sometimes not using it is still a kind of using, whereas using it might actually mean—"

"Alright. Stop."

Ankh cut her off with a face full of black lines.

He gave her a thoroughly unimpressed look.

A bead of sweat appeared at Selene's temple.

She pretended not to notice and resumed watching the fight as though nothing had happened.

Most of Selene's known abilities consisted of her moon-related magic—similar in nature to Heavenly Body Magic and drawing upon starlight and moonlight—as well as her unique Spatial Magic.

But the God of Stars and the God of Space already had their own inheritors.

Besides, neither of those powers seemed embarrassing enough for Selene to desperately avoid discussing them.

Ankh silently considered the possibilities.

A divine power that the Moon Dragon God was actually ashamed to admit she possessed…

There probably weren't many possibilities.

Once he had a fairly good guess, Ankh decided not to press her any further.

By then, the battle nearby was already beginning to reach its conclusion.

Georg was fighting four opponents at once with his Four Beasts Dragon Slayer Magic.

Despite his considerable combat experience, his body had accumulated too many hidden injuries from years of dragon hunting.

On top of that, the backlash from consuming dragon flesh had clearly damaged his mind as well.

His thoughts were becoming increasingly chaotic.

Before long, the four Dark Dragon Slayer Knights had beaten him so badly that he was sprawled on the ground, barely able to keep his eyes open.

The only reason he was still alive was that all four had personally been trained by him.

They owed Georg a great deal and had no desire to actually kill their former master.

Otherwise, after all those threats he had just shouted, Georg probably could have died eight times over already.

"I personally made all of you strong…"

Georg realized brute force wasn't working.

At last, something inside that clogged toilet he called a brain seemed to clear.

So he changed tactics.

"And this is how you repay me?"

He immediately seized the moral high ground and began aggressively playing the Guild Master card, hammering at their guilt and past loyalty.

The four of them had never intended to kill him in the first place.

They only wanted to restrain the man who seemed determined to drag Diabolos straight into hell.

Under Georg's hoarse accusations, their attacks gradually stopped.

But none of them noticed the sharp glint that suddenly appeared in Georg's eyes.

His gaze quietly shifted toward the four Council members.

Then—

he exploded into motion again.

The phantom of a leopard enveloped him as he charged straight toward Ur with murderous intent.

In Georg's mind, the logic was flawless.

Of the four Council members, Ur was the youngest.

Therefore, she had to be the weakest.

And Council members were among the highest-ranking figures in Ishgar.

If Georg took one hostage, he could force everyone to let him escape.

Better yet, he might even extort something useful in the process.

Money and supplies for Diabolos's war against Alvarez.

Perhaps he could even threaten Ishgar into killing the Moon Dragon God for him.

And once he obtained the flesh of Selene, one of the Five Dragon Gods…

Georg was certain his strength would reach an entirely new level.

A dozen greedy calculations flashed through his mind as he rapidly closed the distance.

A victorious grin had only just begun spreading across his face—

when it froze solid.

Black-glowing ice roses erupted from the floor.

They bloomed around Georg in an instant, freezing his charging body completely.

Even the four savage beast phantoms surrounding him were trapped inside the strange black ice.

Ur's eyes were cold.

She placed one fist lightly against her opposite palm and assumed the opening stance of Ice-Make Magic.

An unnatural chill spread from her body.

The cold of the underworld.

Black ice from the land of the dead.

Georg had assumed Ur was the weakest of the four Council members?

Maybe once.

But Ur had died.

Then Ankh brought her back.

She returned in the body of her younger self and gained access to the black ice of the underworld.

She was practically the protagonist of some ridiculous second-life power fantasy.

Her combat experience was no worse than that of the Four Gods of Ishgar.

And with two lifetimes of magical talent layered together, her ultimate potential now exceeded even people like Hyberion.

If Jura fought the current Ur at full strength…

he probably wouldn't have much chance of winning.

...

Behind Kardia Cathedral, a garden of eerie black ice spread across the ground.

A muscular figure suddenly came flying out of the frozen thorns.

BOOM—!

For the second time that day, Georg was sent flying by a woman.

He crashed into the ground in another humiliating heap.

Half his face and one arm were covered in sinister frost that clung to him like parasites, making him look even more miserable than before.

Ur stepped through the doorway.

Her gaze remained icy.

"Attempting to ambush a Council member."

She looked toward Suzaku and the others.

"Under Council regulations, we now have full authority to imprison him in a mage detention facility."

Misaki lowered her head.

There was genuine pain in her expression.

"I'm sorry, Councilor Ur."

She spoke quietly.

"Perhaps giving the Guild Master some time to come to his senses would be for the best…"

"BULLSHIT!"

Georg immediately started yelling again.

"I WASN'T READY!"

"COME ON! AGAIN!"

His furious voice echoed across the courtyard.

Then—

light flickered in front of his eyes.

Once.

Twice.

Georg's eyelids suddenly became unbearably heavy.

His body swayed.

Then he collapsed face-first onto the ground.

His defeat animation had officially finished playing.

Ankh stood behind him and grabbed Georg by the back of his collar, lifting him off the ground like unwanted luggage.

The remnants of God Soul Take Over: God of Time gradually faded from Ankh's body.

He looked at the unconscious Georg and clicked his tongue.

"Can't react to a time stop followed by a one-hit knockout?"

"Come on, man."

The Council members had originally been struggling with how to deal with Georg without making Ishgar look as though it were interfering in Diabolos's internal affairs.

They wanted Suzaku's group on their side.

They wanted Diabolos relocated successfully.

But arresting its Guild Master without a legitimate reason would have complicated everything.

Then Georg had gone and attacked a Council member in front of everyone.

He had practically gift-wrapped the justification and handed it to them himself.

At that point—

why wouldn't they arrest him?
