Fairy Tail: I Don't Want to Be the President
Chapter 1102 438: I Will Become the Guild's Armor (2)
——She came to the guild as a pharmacist for support.
In fact, Rhode was worried about her living alone in the suburbs, so he specially went to invite her and helped her move.
He moved her entire treehouse.
Wendy finally snapped out of her shyness and asked, "Carla, did you see any visions this time?"
Carla nodded, "Yes, some scenes of everyone fighting, but it doesn't seem like there are any special intel."
She saw Rhode use a terrifying magic, and the people around looked very scared.
But since it's Rhode, it should be fine.
Hapi flew over: "Carla, it's time to scout."
Given the probability of Wolian's radar being jammed, Rhode arranged for Hapi, Carla, and Li Li to scout regularly.
Because they had to fly up high, they were dubbed the 'Tmall Squad.'
"Okay." Carla responded and said to Wendy, "I'll be back soon."
Hapi said, "Don't worry, Carla, we'll protect you."
"You better protect yourself first."
Carla and Li Li could transform for combat, but Hapi had no other skill besides flying fast.
The two invited Li Li and flew out of the guild together.
Gajeel nonchalantly put his legs on the table and casually waved at Li Li.
Reby, beside him, nudged Gajeel's waist, "What did you just say to Li Li?"
"Hehe~" Gajeel showed a cunning smile, "Nothing, just told him to inform me first if they find enemies."
"Tell you first, why?" Reby squinted at him, "You want to be the first to fight, right?"
"Do you have a problem with that?"
"Suit yourself, Li Li won't listen to you anyway."
"What did you say? Li Li is my partner!"
Reby chuckled, knowing that Li Li was previously a captain and much more steady than Gajeel in such situations.
Thinking about the war to come, Reby became worried again, "Gajeel."
"Yeah?"
"When the war starts, could you not charge forward recklessly like before?"
"Why bring this up all of a sudden?"
"I know you're strong, but Albarez has many dangerous mages. If you're not careful..."
"Heh~ If you're scared, just stay close to me. You could even hide in my backpack, little one."
Reby puffed her cheeks, "Be serious, I'm telling you something important!"
"Don't worry." Gajeel put his hand on Reby's head, "I won't die that easily. I have important people to protect."
"Gajeel..."
In the pavilion at the guild's backyard, Gray leaned against a pillar, looking at the gradually darkening sky.
No surprise, he was only wearing shorts at this moment.
Jubia picked up a coat from the ground and walked to Gray, "Gray-sama, it might get chilly at night."
Gray didn't turn around, he simply said, "I'm an Ice Mage."
"Yes..." Jubia spoke forlornly, "Gray-sama must be troubled."
Gray turned his head, "What?"
Jubia lowered her head, her voice trembling, "Jubia can't help at all and keeps bothering you... Gray-sama must be troubled by it."
Gray was silent for a moment, while Jubia grew more uneasy, ready to leave at any moment.
At that moment, Gray stood up, took the coat from Jubia, and slowly put it on: "Actually... I've started getting used to you being around."
Jubia felt a bit happy, "Gray-sama..."
Gray pondered seriously and added, "I understand your feelings, Jubia.
"After this war, I'll give you a definite answer. But for now, let me stay focused."
Jubia felt her heart leap out of her chest, blushing as she prepared to nod.
But then Gray continued, "...That's what I originally intended to say to you."
Jubia's emotions became a whirlwind once more.
"But after thinking it over, I'm certain we'll win this war, so whether I say it sooner or later makes no difference."
Gray turned his head away, avoiding Jubia's gaze, his ears slightly red, quietly saying, "Jubia, please... stay by my side."
"Jubie!" Jubia clasped her hands on her chest, eyes filled with hearts, and fell backward.
Thud!
"Hey! Jubia!"
"What are they doing?" Lucy, at the window of the second-floor game room, saw Gray frantically shaking Jubia's shoulders.
Natsu nonchalantly fiddled with the cards in his hand:
"Don't mind them, Lucy. Come fill in Hapi's spot; that guy ran off halfway through the game."
"Alright, alright." Lucy sat across from Natsu, picking up the cards Hapi left behind,
"The cards are terrible; I think I know why Hapi ran off."
Natsu tossed down his cards, "I win! Now let me spank you!"
"No way!" Lucy felt tricked, threw down the cards, and made a run for it.
Natsu chased her all over the place.
Laxus leaned against the second-floor railing, watching the two run by, a faint smile on his face.
Erza came upstairs with two drinks, handing one to Laxus: "I thought you'd hide on the rooftop alone."
Laxus took the cup but didn't drink, "Why should I hide?"
Erza smiled and met his eyes, "Yes, why indeed?"
Laxus looked awkwardly away, "The rooftop is occupied."
Erza barely held back her laughter, not pressing him further:
"How is it? Just watching everyone care for each other, or bicker, doesn't feel bad, right?"
Laxus looked down.
Natsu had already chased Lucy down the stairs, lunging forward, and the two rolled out, crashing into Jet and Troy.
Jet stopped steadily, but Troy's round body kept rolling forward, knocking over Nabu, Bigda, and Lidas.
Bigda jumped up to settle the score, Lidas busied himself tidying his drawing board and brushes, while Nabu gingerly supported the notice board.
Laki and Ginanna complained that they made the guild a mess again, making it hard to clean up.
Mickey excitedly pulled her teammates to join the fray.
Macao held his eager son, constantly advising him on something,
Romeo looked impatient, so he cleverly dragged over Wakaba.
As expected, the two naturally started arguing.
Asuka, face full of excitement, waved her little fists cheering someone on.
Alzack and Bisca helplessly instructed their daughter to be ladylike, not to emulate those people, and not to imitate the woman with the bottle over there.
Eventually, they too got caught up, setting a good example for their daughter.
Finally, Marcus brought Makarov over.
A large hand slapped down, accompanied by an angry voice:
"Keep it down when fighting; don't disturb Wolian's scouting, you idiots!"
Laxus unconsciously smiled, murmuring, "Maybe it's not too bad, but... there are too many idiots."
"Yes." Erza leaned on the railing, not defending her companions, "Too many idiots."
Laxus glanced at her, "You're... not wearing armor."
"I used to wear armor all the time because of unease; now I don't need it. Because, my companions are my armor."
Erza continued watching the chaotic scene below, a gentle smile on her face, "You too, Laxus."
"..." Laxus unconsciously gripped his cup tighter, "I will be the guild's armor."
"That's very reassuring." Erza raised her cup to Laxus,
"Since you'll be the guild's armor, then I'll be the guild's sword."
Laxus and Erza looked at each other for a moment, lightly clinking their cups.
They both smiled, raising their cups to drink together.
Mebius floated in spirit form above the guild, trailing a faint starlight behind her.
She saw all the actions of the members clearly, her lips lifting in a contented smile.
