Fairy Tail: I Don't Want to Be the President
Chapter 1104 439: Vanguard Unit, Ambush Battle (Part 2)
When a few of them stepped out the door, Lucy complained, "They've definitely forgotten."
...
The gold and blue dragon soared into the sky, a perfect fusion of Hex-Tech and flesh gliding through the night sky.
A metallic glimmer occasionally flickered across the wings, and if Natsu were Laxus, he might have pounced for a little snack.
Both the Hex-Tech Sub-Dragon and Alchemy Technology Sub-Dragon aren't very intelligent, but at least they know who to listen to in Rhode's absence.
Thus, Mira sat astride its back, guiding its altitude, direction, and speed, and it cooperated well.
Once the flying speed stabilized, Mira adjusted her wind-tousled hair, looked back and smiled:
"Feels a bit nostalgic; it's been a long time since we last fought together."
Carla, somewhat uncomfortable in her arms, asked, "Why am I coming along too?"
Mira gestured toward Laxus:
"Because there's a Dragon Slayer Mage without a cat, and today there's an air battle. Please partner with him today."
Laxus nodded at Carla, saying somewhat awkwardly, "I look forward to working with you."
In reality, he has a partner who can carry him in flight, which is Fried.
Unfortunately, Fried has to oversee the technique to protect the town.
Carla wasn't used to talking to Laxus either, so she could only politely reply, "I'll do my best."
Erza reassured, "No need to be so formal, Laxus is easy to get along with."
Gajeel secretly glanced at Laxus—this person... easy to get along with?
Natsu, on the other hand, had no objections, because every time he challenged him, Laxus always punched him seriously.
Kana was more focused on another matter: "Speaking of which, Mira, it's surprising that Rhode agreed to let you go and fight."
"Why not? After all, I'm an S-Class Mage of the guild."
Mira playfully winked at Kana, as if provoking, "S-Class, you know~"
"You...!" Kana clenched her fist.
Although she now doesn't pay much attention to the S-Class title, Mira was obviously hinting at her past.
Kana sighed, "You've become a mom now, can't you change that conniving personality of yours?"
Mira's smile didn't fade, "My husband loves it; why should I change?"
Kana opened her mouth, pulled out a bottle from her bag, took a swig—this annoying happy woman!
The Hex-Tech Sub-Dragon's speed could be described as swift, and it didn't take long for the group to reach the predetermined location.
Mebius had chosen a hilly area, with dense forests ideal for concealment.
Even the giant dragon could be hidden in the valleys, making it less conspicuous.
More importantly, there were no populated areas or shelters nearby, so they could fight freely.
The guild had relayed that the enemies still need some time to arrive.
Natsu, having little patience, jumped up, shouting, "Why be so troublesome? Just go find them directly!"
Erza knocked him on the head with a punch, "Don't be reckless, we need to act swiftly; an ambush is the most efficient."
...
Under the faint moonlight, fifty flying cruisers arranged in a spindle-shaped formation, rapidly flying from west to east.
On the largest flagship at the front, stood two youths.
One held the title of the Desert King, Agir, and the other resembled a chubby Teletubby.
Agir sneered arrogantly, "Hahahaha, there's not even a decent resistance.
"Conquering this country doesn't need an army; I could do it alone! Vahl, you can be like Brantish and go rest inside!"
Vahl rationally replied, "It's because most of their forces are concentrated on defending the borders, leading to internal vulnerability.
"And they didn't expect us to be equipped with high-speed cruisers for the raid, so they couldn't react in time.
"Brantish has always lacked enthusiasm, but if even you slack off, we might end up embarrassed."
"Huh?" Agir showed disdain, "Who could embarrass me? The continent's top mage is at Serena's level.
"And over here he's even considered a 'god'! So we, the Twelve Shields, are twelve gods!"
Vahl thought a bit but remained silent.
By this logic, it seems correct, but agreeing with this guy feels brainless.
Looking towards a not-so-clear mountain forest in the distance, Vahl's head suddenly beeped like an alarm.
"There's a hidden magic power reaction, suspected to be an ambush." Vahl waved to the rear, "No need to stop, direct bombardment."
Agir suggested, "Bombing is too boring; let me go down and finish them off."
Vahl stated, "Don't forget, our task is to raid Fairy Tail.
"The so-called raid means finishing them off all at once when they're unprepared."
Agir sneered, waved to the people behind him, "Open fire."
"Yes..."
Before the soldier finished relaying the order, the target area of the bombardment already lit up with a blue glow.
To be exact, it wasn't light, but electricity.
A massive blue-white lightning stream surged fiercely, enveloping the flagship, lighting up the entire night sky.
Agir and Vahl rushed forward together, extending their hands to resist this terrifying power as much as possible.
Agir shouted with a grimace, "Hey! Aren't you supposed to be immune to lightning?"
Vahl was also struggling, "Ordinary lightning is no problem! But this powerful magic, even the real body couldn't absorb it directly, much less when I'm just a puppet!"
Agir shouted, "Brantish! How long are you going to slack off?"
Suddenly two people appeared on the deck, one was the dominant green-haired girl Brantish, and the other who used Space Magic was Malin.
Brantish immediately joined the two at the front, using Magic Power together to help resist the lightning.
"It seems there's no place that can lack Lord Brantish!" Malin stared obsessively at Brantish's back, rubbing his hands constantly, "Perfect, so perfect!"
Agir shouted, "Brantish, can't you use magic to teleport the fleet away?"
Malin cautiously said, "Sorry, Lord Agir, such big ships can't be done. My magic isn't qualified, not qualified..."
Fortunately, the presence of two Twelve Shields plus a puppet shield was enough to protect the flagship.
However, ships closer to the flagship suffered.
Explosions roared one after another, with a dozen ships bursting into massive fireworks in the night sky.
People aboard were inevitably blown off, most losing breath instantly, while a few still screamed as they plummeted with the wreckage.
Vahl's puppet immediately commanded, "Disperse formation!"
Agir's face contorted as he yelled forward, "Damn it! I'll slaughter you! Come out!"
Actually, there was no need for him to shout, as the Hex-Tech Sub-Dragon had already ascended after unleashing a breath.
Its massive mechanical body blocked the entire fleet's path, with small electric arcs still dancing on its surface.
Brantish, who had remained expressionless, now showed surprise: "Is this... a dragon?"
Vahl's eyes gleamed with zeal: "This isn't a real dragon; it's a dragon made of machinery!
"Ishujal's folks are hiding such things! If I could create a mechanical puppet like this..."
The enraged Agir couldn't care anymore, he just shouted:
"Fire, fire! Even if it's a real dragon, I'll slaughter it!"
While their focus was on the Hex-Tech Sub-Dragon, the Tmall Squad swiftly brought three Dragon Slayer Mages and charged into the sky!
Natsu headed for the left flank, Gajeel for the right flank, and Laxus towards the middle of the fleet.
The trio pierced through three massive cruisers from bottom to top!
