Chapter 147: End Of Volume Two

The entire next day was spent fully with the January family.

Ms. Cecilia taught history at a small local school in the town, while April’s father owned and ran a small cozy bookstore nearby.

They all had a lovely mini adventure down by the riverside together, with Angel happily riding a bicycle with her small sister June sitting on the handlebars, while April babysat little Julie and the two cats on a blanket.

Angel finally stepped into the cool river water, deliberately trying to overcome her deep grief once and for all.

From the exact moment her bare feet touched the flowing water, Angel finally let go of the heavy grief she had been holding onto for years, choosing to live her life and do all the things she truly loved doing again.

April tried her best to swim in the shallow water with the very little knowledge she had previously learned from Abigail and Katie, but she almost drowned right there in the current, and her quick girlfriend pulled her out of the water just in time.

For several seconds, April simply held onto Angel while trying to catch her breath. Angel could not help laughing a little after realizing her girlfriend had nearly turned a peaceful afternoon into a rescue mission.

"You really need to learn how to swim properly," Angel teased.

"I was doing perfectly fine until the water decided to attack me," April complained, causing Angel to laugh even harder.

Angel gently helped dry her wet girlfriend’s hair and little June’s messy hair with a big soft towel.

June played happily with the cats on the grass, and Coco actually tried her absolute best to be friendly with the child.

The orange cat was really trying her hardest.

When Angel and April visited Mr. January later that afternoon at his bookstore, April was so incredibly happy that her dad was still actively doing what he genuinely loved in life, and that he had finally found someone like Ms. Cecilia who truly loved and supported him through everything.

The bookstore itself was small but warm, with shelves filled from the floor to the ceiling. April spent quite a while looking through the books while Angel watched her with a quiet smile.

Staying for just one more day quickly turned into staying for an entire week, mostly because little June refused to let them go so soon.

April softly petted June’s head and promised to call her on the phone constantly and visit her again very soon. The two loving sisters shared a long, tight hug on the front porch and said their heartfelt goodbyes.

Angel even gifted little June one of her absolute favorite customized skateboards so she could go on cool adventures with her little sister and upcoming baby brother in the future.

Father and daughter said their final emotional goodbyes, and Mr. January promised to regularly call his daughter every single week just to check on her well-being.

Both sisters had heavy, teary eyes as they were officially separated once again.

The very second the black van drove off down the street, little June cried loudly on her father’s shoulder.

Even April cried quietly in the passenger seat, watching them disappear through the window.

"Do you want to stay and live in this town?" Angel asked softly, holding her girlfriend’s hand tightly over the console. "It’s really a nice, peaceful place to settle down..."

"It really is a wonderful town," April said, wiping a tear from her cheek. "I found my father and my sweet siblings here. But now I really want to see your family, just like you have generously shown me mine... Thank you Papi..."

"Just so you know, April, you are my real family now," Angel said, leaning over to kiss the back of her hand softly. "I love you so much..."

"I love you too..." April replied, a gentle smile appearing on her face.

And then right on cue, the two cats started meowing loudly from below.

They were both sitting directly on April’s lap, staring up at her.

"I love you guys too..." April giggled, reaching down to stroke their fur.

Because of all their luggage and personal belongings packed inside the van, the girls had to travel the entire long distance by road.

They already had all their official travel papers completely ready for the border check.

It took them many long hours of driving down the highway to finally cross the international border, and at last, they were officially in Mexico.

The long journey slowly became quieter as evening approached. April eventually fell asleep beside the window, exhausted from everything that had happened during their visit. Angel occasionally glanced toward her, making sure she was comfortable before returning her attention to the road.

There was something peaceful about knowing that April had finally reunited with the family she had spent so long missing.

Angel’s mother’s relatives lived in a beautiful countryside town called Playa Linda.

"Welcome to Playa Linda, Bebe..." Angel said warmly the exact moment the van passed right under the large welcome sign.

April had been fast asleep in her seat when Angel said those words. She slowly opened her eyes and started looking all around at the wide brand new environment outside the window.

Everything stretched out from green farmlands to vast open ranches and quiet rustic homesteads.

It felt completely like the peaceful countryside.

April pressed closer to the window, quietly taking everything in.

After everything they had experienced, this place felt almost unreal. There were no crowded streets or noisy buildings around them, only open land and distant homes scattered across the countryside.

Angel smiled when she noticed the expression on her girlfriend’s face.

"This is where my mother grew up," she said softly.

April looked at her and smiled.

"I think I’m going to love it here."

They had finally arrived at the exact place where they would grow together as partners and become so much greater than their parents would ever even dream of becoming.

This was officially going to be the true beginning of April January and Angel Del Rosario’s beautiful love story.
