With their first wedding anniversary approaching, April and Angel had already started planning ways to surprise each other. Neither wanted to reveal their plans, so they kept their little secrets while trying to make the occasion special.

Meanwhile, their daughter, Lucy May, was growing so quickly that her mothers could hardly believe their eyes. It felt like only yesterday that they had been cradling a tiny baby in their arms, afraid to sleep too deeply in case they missed her cries. Now, their little girl was three times her original size, crawling around the house, playing with anything she could reach, and picking up new words almost every day.

Unfortunately, her growing vocabulary was beginning to cause trouble.

It was a beautiful morning, and the family had gathered around the dining table for breakfast. April and Angel were eating while Lucy May sat in her highchair, entertaining herself with a wooden toy Dante had made for her.

The little girl had recently developed a habit of repeating whatever caught her attention. Sometimes, she would keep saying the same word until someone acknowledged her, much to her mothers’ amusement. However, they were beginning to realise that not everything she heard was worth repeating.

As Angel reached for her breakfast, Lucy May suddenly lifted her head and began mumbling.

"Boobies. Boobies. Boobies."

Angel froze with her hand halfway to her mouth.

Had she heard correctly?

She slowly turned towards her daughter, who was happily playing with her wooden toy while repeating the word as though she had discovered something fascinating.

"Boobies. Boobies."

Angel’s face went blank before she cautiously looked across the table at April.

Her wife was staring at her with a death glare that could have frightened a less experienced Alpha.

"I have no idea where she heard that word from," Angel immediately defended herself.

April placed her cutlery down, her expression growing even more intimidating.

"Really? Just because I allow you to hang around that restaurant doesn’t mean you should take my little Angel there."

She pointed her fork at her wife, making it clear that she wasn’t amused by their daughter’s new vocabulary.

Angel nearly choked on her breakfast.

"Bebe, I’m telling you the truth! I have no idea where she picked up that word, and I haven’t even been to the restaurant for almost two weeks. I’ve been fishing, diving, and hanging around the mansion or the ranch. I swear I didn’t teach her that!"

She looked genuinely offended that April would suspect her, especially when she had been doing her best to behave herself lately.

April raised an eyebrow.

"Then how on earth is she saying boobies?"

Both women turned towards the highchair, where Lucy May remained blissfully unaware of the trouble she had caused.

"Boobies. Boobies. Boobies."

Angel slowly closed her eyes, wondering how her peaceful breakfast had turned into an interrogation.

And just like that, April banned her from going to the restaurant.

...

"I can’t believe she didn’t believe me, I am her wife, she is supposed to trust me..." Angel muttered later that morning.

She was at the ranch, feeding the horses while Lucy May crawled around outside, happily playing with the cats. Every now and then, Angel glanced in her direction to make sure she was safe, but most of her attention remained on the unfair accusation her wife had made against her.

She refused to let the matter go.

There was absolutely no way she was going to spend the rest of her life being blamed for teaching their daughter a word she couldn’t even remember saying in front of her.

Determined to clear her name, Angel decided to question everyone who might have been responsible for Lucy May’s sudden interest in the word.

Her first suspect was Dante.

She approached him while he was busy with his usual activities around the ranch and launched straight into her interrogation. Unfortunately, Dante denied everything.

According to him, his life revolved around animals, and girls weren’t his cup of tea. He couldn’t understand why Angel would accuse him of teaching a baby such a word when he had far more important things to occupy his time.

Angel wasn’t convinced, but she moved on to her next suspect.

Grandma Paula.

That interrogation turned out to be even more ridiculous. Angel asked her grandmother a series of bizarre questions, trying to determine whether she had introduced Lucy May to her new vocabulary. When Paula continued denying the accusation, Angel even threatened to reveal her lewd secret to Grandma Lucinda.

Despite the threat, Paula refused to confess to something she insisted she hadn’t done.

Frustrated, Angel moved on to Priesto.

Unfortunately, he didn’t even wait for her to finish explaining before dismissing the entire accusation. He barely spent any time around the baby, and he had far more important things to deal with than teaching a little girl how to say boobies. If he was to teach Lulu, it was going to be how to pull a trigger...

Angel eventually left him alone, although she wasn’t particularly pleased with how easily everyone seemed to escape her questions.

Next came her friends.

By then, Angel had become so determined to prove her innocence that she no longer cared how ridiculous she looked. She questioned them one after another, explaining the situation and demanding to know whether any of them had taught Lucy May the word.

They simply stared at her, shaking their heads at her childish behaviour.

Sabrina, who had listened to enough of Angel’s complaints, finally lost her patience.

"I thought settling down and having kids made people grow up, but this one is just getting younger and stupid."

She promptly left Angel and Carlos behind and returned to the field to harvest some crops, apparently deciding that dealing with the plants was far more productive than listening to the investigation.

Angel watched her go, offended by the lack of support from the people she considered her friends.

But she wasn’t finished.

She went on to question her two workers, Benny and CJ, hoping one of them might finally provide an answer.

Benny denied teaching Lucy May the word, while CJ had much bigger things happening in her personal life. Her wife had just announced that they were expecting a baby, leaving CJ with plenty to think about without getting involved in Angel’s ridiculous investigation.

After questioning nearly everyone around her, Angel was left with nothing.

Nobody admitted to teaching Lucy May the word, and nobody seemed to know where she had learned it.

Eventually, Angel began considering the possibility that she might have said it herself without realising their daughter was listening.

It wasn’t the answer she wanted, but after spending the entire day questioning people and getting nowhere, she had little choice but to consider it.

Still, she wasn’t ready to admit defeat.

Later that night, Angel and April were getting ready for bed.

April had settled comfortably inside her nest, listening to a novel through the audiobook feature her company had recently introduced. The new feature allowed her to enjoy stories without keeping her eyes glued to a page, and she had been making good use of it whenever she wanted to relax.

Angel, on the other hand, was already lying down, preparing to sleep after the exhausting day she had spent trying to clear her name.

She was just about to close her eyes when a familiar word suddenly reached her ears.

"Boobies."

Angel’s eyes flew open.

For a moment, she lay completely still, trying to process what she had heard. Then she sat upright so quickly that April turned towards her in surprise.

"Ah-ah!"

Angel pointed an accusing finger at her wife.

"What is it?" April asked, looking at her in confusion.

"You’re the one who taught Baby Lulu to say the word boobies, Audio!...."

April blinked, staring at Angel as though she had just accused her of something completely absurd. However, as the accusation began to make sense, her expression gradually changed.

She climbed out of her nest, looking increasingly embarrassed as she remembered what had happened.

She had been listening to an audiobook while spending time with Lucy May, and the little girl must have picked up the word from the recording. April hadn’t thought much about it at the time, never imagining that their daughter would remember it and start repeating it everywhere.

Now, everything made sense. It had been her all along.

April looked at Angel, who was still pointing at her with the satisfaction of someone who had finally caught the culprit after a long investigation.

"I’m really sorry, Papi. I had no idea," April apologised.

Angel folded her arms, looking thoroughly offended.

"Next time I tell you I didn’t do something, believe me! I never lie about those kinds of things, if it was me I would have proudly say so..."

She pouted, clearly pleased that she had finally proved her innocence, even if the truth had come out in the most unexpected way.

Feeling guilty, April approached her wife and began planting kisses all over her face, hoping to make up for the trouble she had caused.

"Okay, don’t be angry, my big Angel."

Angel tried to maintain her offended expression, but April’s kisses were making it increasingly difficult.

Just when April thought she had successfully made peace with her wife, another familiar voice came through the baby monitor.

"Boobies."

Both women froze.

April slowly turned towards the monitor while Angel stared at her with an expression that said she had absolutely nothing to do with this particular incident.

"I hope she doesn’t turn out to be like you, or worse..." April laughed.

Angel looked at her in disbelief, but before she could respond, April returned to her audiobook, and the two continued listening together.
