Falling For My Alpha Stepsister (GL)
Chapter 214: First Year Birthday
Baby Lulu’s first birthday was an absolute blast, and nobody seemed willing to let the little Alpha rest for even a moment. From her grandparents and uncles and aunty to her parents, everyone wanted a piece of her attention. Fortunately, Lucy May was having the time of her life, delighted to see so many familiar faces gathered to celebrate her special day.
Grandma Lucinda had baked an enormous cake for her precious great-granddaughter, making sure the occasion would be celebrated in style. The garden had been transformed into something straight out of a fairy princess’s dream, with beautiful decorations and colourful arrangements making every corner look magical. April had designed custom-made wings for her daughter, while Angel made sure their little girl looked like an actual angel in her birthday outfit.
Of course, Angel had gone completely overboard with the presents. She had bought so many toys for Lucy May that anyone would have thought the little girl was about to open her own toy shop. April had laughed at her wife’s enthusiasm, but Angel insisted that their daughter’s first birthday deserved nothing less than the best.
Every child in Playa Linda had been invited, and the garden was equipped with enough attractions to keep them entertained throughout the day. There was a mini water park with a water slide, a trampoline for the energetic little ones, and several mascot characters wandering around to make everyone laugh.
What made the mascots particularly amusing was the identity of the people hiding underneath their costumes. They were none other than Priesto’s nuns.
When Priesto discovered what Angel had done, he could barely believe his eyes. He stood watching his deadly nuns dressed as adorable characters for Lucy May’s birthday, wondering how his life had come to this. If someone had told him that he would one day watch those women entertain a garden full of children, he would have laughed in their face.
Instead, he had somehow ended up serving as the master of ceremonies for the entire party.
Sabrina was in charge of the fruit drinks and smoothies, ensuring everyone had plenty to enjoy, while Carlos stayed near the water slide to help the children climb safely and prevent the more adventurous ones from turning the attraction into a disaster. Katie remained close to April, taking photographs of the celebration and capturing moments that would eventually fill the family’s albums.
Mary and Benny were the only familiar faces missing from the gathering. Unfortunately, the Martinez family had gone on a trip and couldn’t attend, but their absence did little to dampen the excitement.
The garden buzzed with laughter, music, and the cheerful voices of children enjoying themselves. Lucy May was passed from one loving relative to another, receiving kisses, cuddles, and enough attention to make it impossible for her parents to keep track of everyone who wanted to spend time with her.
Her grandparents and uncles had also chosen presents that reflected their individual personalities.
Grandma Paula gifted her a beautiful white baby horse that would eventually become her pet, while Angel presented her daughter with a baby surfboard, already imagining the day she would take Lucy May to the beach and teach her how to enjoy the water.
April had chosen a teddy bear, something soft and cuddly that her little girl could hold whenever she wanted comfort.
Then came Priesto.
The man proudly presented his grandniece with a toy gun.
Angel and April stared at him in disbelief, both wondering what on earth had possessed him to give their baby such a gift. When they began protesting, Priesto raised his hands and suggested they settle the disagreement by letting the birthday girl decide for herself.
And that was how the adults ended up placing all the presents in front of Lucy May.
The little Alpha sat on the grass while everyone gathered around her. Angel placed the baby surfboard nearby, April positioned the teddy bear within reach, and Priesto made sure his precious toy gun was included among the choices.
"Come on, Lulu! Pick your present!" someone encouraged her.
Soon, everyone began chanting her name, cheering as though the little girl were competing in some grand championship.
"Lucy May! Lucy May! Lucy May!"
The birthday girl giggled at all the attention, looking from one present to another before placing her hands on the ground and crawling towards them. Her parents watched eagerly, hoping she would choose something harmless, while Priesto looked as though he had already begun celebrating his victory.
Lucy May continued until she finally reached the gifts.
Then, to the absolute horror of her parents, she picked up the toy gun.
For a moment, Angel and April could only stare at their daughter, silently processing what had just happened.
Priesto, on the other hand, reacted as though he had witnessed the greatest achievement of his life. He jumped up with an enormous grin, looking far too pleased with himself.
"That’s my girl over there! Yeah, I can’t wait to teach you how to shoot!"
April slowly turned towards him, glaring so fiercely that Priesto’s smile might have disappeared if he had possessed even the slightest sense of self-preservation.
"If I see you anywhere near my girl with that nonsense, you’re going to feel the eternal wrath of a mother," she threatened.
Priesto’s excitement faltered, but before he could defend himself, Grandma Lucinda spoke.
"Gabriel, my son, don’t tell me you’ve taken the same path as your elder brother, Michael?"
The moment those words left her mouth, fear spread across Priesto’s face. His mother’s question had apparently struck a nerve that even his usual confidence couldn’t protect.
"No, Mommy!" he answered immediately, adopting the innocent tone of a well-behaved child. "I’m a very good son. Your good boy... I would never follow that path. I’m just a restaurant owner who turned Brother Michael’s nuns into reformed, good girls. Look at them! They’re as holy as the sweet Virgin Mary!"
He gestured towards the mascots, presenting the sight as evidence of his excellent behaviour.
Angel and April exchanged a look before turning their attention back to him. They could only wonder how long Priesto intended to maintain his good-boy act, especially when everyone in the family knew better than to believe it without question.
April leaned towards Angel, lowering her voice so that only her wife could hear her.
"Hey, I don’t give a shit about his attitude. Just make sure he never turns my little Angel into one of those people. I want Lucy May to grow up as a free-spirited good girl who eventually finds herself a good Omega."
Angel looked at her with an affectionate smile, seemingly unconcerned by the possibilities troubling her wife.
"Don’t worry. She’s going to be fine. There’s no way our daughter will turn out like us. She’ll be just like you."
April slowly turned towards her Alpha, giving her a look that suggested Angel had failed to understand the warning entirely.
"I know what family I’ve married into, and I know the wife standing beside me. You’d better not turn my daughter into your carbon copy."
Before Angel could offer another reassuring response, April rose from her seat and collected her daughter. She gently took the toy gun away from Lucy May and replaced it with the teddy bear she had bought for her.
The little girl seemed perfectly content with the change, clutching her new toy while April held her close.
With that particular disagreement settled, the celebration continued, and the garden remained filled with laughter as everyone enjoyed the rest of Lucy May’s special day.
---
A month after Lucy May’s first birthday, Angel and April witnessed another precious milestone in their daughter’s life.
It happened during one of their monthly family picnics in front of the cottage, where they had gathered to enjoy the afternoon with their little girl and the cat family. The weather was pleasant, and everyone had settled into the familiar routine of spending time together outdoors.
Lucy May was playing with Coco Terror and Percy, thoroughly entertained by the cats as they moved around her. Their kittens were also roaming about, exploring their surroundings while the adults enjoyed the peaceful afternoon.
April and Angel sat nearby, keeping an eye on their daughter while enjoying the picnic. Neither expected anything particularly remarkable to happen that day until a butterfly fluttered into Lucy May’s line of sight.
The little girl immediately became fascinated by its colourful wings, watching as it danced just beyond her reach. When it drifted farther away, she seemed determined to follow it.
Slowly, Lucy May shifted her weight and pushed herself upright.
April’s attention snapped towards her daughter just as the little girl managed to stand on her own. Before either parent could react, she took a tentative step forward, followed by another, moving unsteadily as she chased after the butterfly.
April’s eyes widened.
"Oh, look, Papi! Lulu is walking!"
Angel immediately turned towards them, and the moment she saw her daughter taking those precious little steps, her entire expression changed.
"Oh my goodness, my baby girl!"
She quickly grabbed her phone and began recording, determined to capture the moment their little Alpha took her first steps.
