Fallout, Second Life
Chapter 380 - 380
According to Milla and the map she had drawn up for Adam the factory had effectively four entrances. Two in the back, one for loading and unloading of trucks, one for a back employee entrance, one on the side, a second employee entrance, and the fourth in the front for everyone else. All four entrances were reinforced and guarded around the clock by a rotating band of guards. If there was a leader among them they had not shown their face since Milla had begun to observe a few days ago. Most of the cultists had light arms or rifles, but there were two rocket launchers confirmed and something very surprising. A Fatman, the mini-nuke launcher.
"That is the most dangerous obstacle here." Adam said as he pointed to the map, specifically to the roof of the factory where the person manning the Fatman was usually stationed. "Just one round could kill everyone here if we are not careful, it could even decommission my APC. That's far too risky."
"I agree." Milla said back. "That's why I don't recommend a head on strike. Well that and all the other guns pointed."
"Yeah, the only reason the head on strike worked at the church was because War was taking the brunt of it. We can't afford that here."
"Then what you need is a different kind of operation." Deccanus said, having joined the discussion with a few others.
"I'm all ears, Red." Milla said back, giving Deccanus a nickname based on his mostly red armor.
"Infiltration." Deccanus said back quickly.
"How do you plan to infiltrate a building of that size and complexity? It has every entrance guarded, great sight lines for the most part, and once you got inside you'd do what?" Adam asked back.
"We would secure the roof." Deccanus said back stalwart.
"I mean that's great and all but how do you-" Adam began before Mira cut him off.
"No, Red has a point." Mira cut in, using Deccanus' new nickname off the cuff without even a smile as she did. Perhaps it was meant as a joke. "All the heavy armament is on the roof. The Fatman, one of the rocket launchers, the sniper, and a number of other explosives like grenades. They clearly are using the roof sightlines to secure their perimeter. If we are to successfully attack we must neutralize that advantage.
"That's still a huge task, how would people even get inside? It would be foolhardy to rush in."
"Did you forget what I am wearing?" Mira said with a soft cocky grin as she gestured to her stealth suit.
"I don't doubt your suit, or your skills, but you alone will not be enough to handle the entire roof."
"Then I shall join her." Deccanus said with a resolute tone.
"With all due respect Deccanus, you aren't able to go invisible like Mira."
"No, but I am no stranger to stealth. This shall be an infiltration mission, handling guards with melee is my specialty."
"And if they don't oblige with melee?"
"Then that is what this is for." Deccanus said as he gently pounded the shield Adam had given him with his fist.
"Two isn't enough to secure the entire roof." Milla said skeptically.
"But what about 3?" Eve said as she sauntered over. "We are going to be getting into a bloody brawl, yes? Don't keep a girl away from a good time~. Besides, while they fight their way to the roof from the interior I can just climb the side of the building, by the time I get up they should be up there too."
"That's still a lot of risk to take on just for you three."
"I agree, that's still too few…" Milla said before she looked behind her at her people and then back at Adam. "Take Jack and Henderson too. They are good in melee and I'd trust them with my life."
"Thats a good recommendation if I ever heard one." Adam chuckled. "So those five then?"
"Unless you have someone else in mind." Mira said as she looked over to Adam. Adam paused to consider. In melee Pearl is the best choice but she is anything but quiet, so she would only hinder the team. All of his robots were too slow, loud, and clunky, and then there was Percy. He might be a great pick for something like this, but he had told Adam himself that he could not run anymore. That quite heavily hindered his ability to fight a melee. Of course there was Salvatore who Adam would trust with anything, but he had a different job in mind for Salvatore.
"No, it's just those 5." Adam sighed. "Just… stay safe okay?" Adam said with a pleading look to Mira, and then Deccanus in turn, with a final look at Eve.
"No promises sweetie~" Eve teased.
"We will be fine." Mira grinned.
"Salvatore!" Adam called out to Salvatore who was standing nearby, enjoying a quiet smoke. When called he snuffed it out and walked over.
"What's up, kid?"
"I got a job for you, if you are up for it."
"Anything, kid. Whatcha need?"
"A sniper."
Salvatore slowly grew a grin on his face.
"Now that I can do."
"Good cause these three and two hunters are going to be infiltrating the factory, fighting, in stealth, to the roof, and then eliminating the roof guards so the rest of us can advance. I need you to cover them."
"And the rest of us?" Milla asked Adam.
"Once the roof guards are hit we should attack the front from three directions, confuse them by obscuring our numbers and use the opportunity to kill as many as we can in the opening volley. They won't be expecting a fully armed APC anyhow, I'm sure I can get more than a few with this guy alone." Adam said as he patted the APC next to him.
"I disagree with that last part." Milla said. "Everyone knows you got the APC, not a single person doesn't know about its fire power. They, who made themselves your enemy, will be prepared for an APC to show up."
"Oh…" Adam said, a bit dejected.
"Still the firepower will be good, but you can't bring it in until the explosives are dealt with, after all, that's what they are likely there for, to handle you." Adam nodded slowly.
"So then I can keep my APC out of sight until the first volley rings out after the roof is secured. Come in, blow some cultists up, and then move in with the others to not let them regroup."
"That sounds like a decent plan. Though a lot relies on you." Milla said to the three infiltrators who were at the table with them, though specifically Mira.
"I will do my best not to disappoint." Mira said back to her.
"When shall this attack take place?" Deccanus asked.
"Night." Adam said back quickly. "Daylight would help us identify the enemies easier, but it will make your jobs much harder. I want to minimize your risk. You five will have the most dangerous job in the mission." Deccanus nodded.
"Then night it shall be."
"Alright, let's get ourselves comfortable. We got a day to kill while we wait." Adam said to the group, wrapping up the strategy meeting.
