Family Cultivation: I Become a Mirror
Chapter 653: 482
The Cloud Octopus had just been suppressed when two monstrous squids, with teeth bared and claws dancing, flew up from the sea surface and collided with Kongheng's golden light. The impact caused Kongheng to pause briefly, giving the Cloud Octopus a chance to catch its breath and use its demonic power to block the thunderbolts.
Kongheng struggled slightly but remained calm, even showing a hint of intrigue.
Although he had mastered many spells over the years, he couldn't suppress three monsters at once. He found it odd how surprisingly weak the two Foundation Establishment monsters were. Upon closer inspection, his eyes revealed a spell-casting motion:
"These two monsters seem a bit odd, like they're avatars... No wonder the two Hui Yao are not afraid..."
While he suppressed the three monsters, Li Qinghong wasn't idle in the sky. She gathered thunderbolts in her hands, imbuing the spirit mechanism around her with a translucent purple color from her spear, creating a shadow that resembled a sparrow.
The spear projected a purple conical wave through the air, surrounded by thunderbolts. Meanwhile, seven or eight thunderbolts fell from the sky, their imposing presence causing the Cloud Octopus to feel terrified inside, muttering to itself:
"This is bad. They must be disciples of the Immortal Sect. If they indeed intend to kill me, with thunderbolts surging, there's no escape."
Finally accepting the futility of escaping, it bared its fangs, understanding that only a fight to the death might offer a chance of survival. It stretched out its eight tentacles, rapidly sucking in the surrounding spirit mechanism through the mist.
With a face as round as a steamed bun, Hui Yao didn't find an opportunity to intervene, fearing that approaching the golden light would suppress him too. He was shocked:
"It's one thing to have a monk, but to also have a Thunder Cultivator... They say they purify evil with fire, and thunder vanquishes filth. But which of today's monsters doesn't possess some impurity..."
As the Cloud Octopus resisted the thunderbolts, it rapidly absorbed the spirit mechanism from the heavens and earth. The concentrated spiritual essence suddenly decreased in the area, and even the sealed sea surface, now a flat expanse of land, showed signs of cracking as if it might leap up, stirred by his spellcasting.
Li Qinghong slightly opened her mouth, ready to summon the Mysterious Thunder from the Thunder Pool within her Sea of Qi. A faint glow of purple and white began to emerge around her red lips, appearing rather mystical.
As she broke through to the Foundation Establishment Middle Stage, she now had two Mysterious Thunders stored in her Sea of Qi Thunder Pool. Along with the one she could temporarily conjure using mana, three Mysterious Thunders could smash down all at once if she disregarded the consequences. These would be enough to end the life of the Cloud Octopus, who lacked a proper Taoist lineage. However, not fully trusting the two fish demons, she had yet to use them.
Unexpectedly, Hui Yao burst into laughter and shouted:
"At last, I can come in handy!"
He then blew and tapped again, and the green little bell floating in the air began to sway back and forth. The ceaselessly moving spirit mechanism suddenly halted in its tracks, hovering indecisively in the air.
The Cloud Octopus, having never seen such an array before and lacking the spellcasting genius of Yu Muxian, flailed all eight tentacles in the air, desperately resisting the thunderbolts.
As the Cloud Octopus's spells clashed with the green bell, Li Qinghong put away the Mysterious Thunder, her long hair fluttering about as she joyfully joined the fight. Thunder and black smoke rose around her as she skillfully danced through the attacks of the three monsters with her bronze Purple Lightning Spear.
She came to the East Sea and had a few fights that were not satisfying; some were too weak, ending with just two spear thrusts, and others were unwilling to engage in a desperate fight with her. At last, she had found a good sharpening stone for her skills. The Talisman Qi inside her grew increasingly vibrant as she fought more fiercely.
Caught in the midst of the battle, the Cloud Octopus faced the greatest headache. It felt the thunder from the female cultivator's spear growing even more powerful, and the spear's light sharper. Its flesh was cut open, and blood sprayed high into the air, falling like rain and drawing a frenzy of fish to the sea surface to feed.
It had to ease up on its spells, only to see those two despicable Hui Yao fishes entangling its subordinates. Meanwhile, the bald monk revealed a golden glow in each palm, striking flesh with every hit, coming at him.
The Cloud Octopus lost its advantage and was at a disadvantage against the magic artifact, unable to perform its spells effectively. It already struggled against Li Qinghong head-on, and with the addition of the mage, it was in imminent peril.
This was a common problem among cultivators not from the Dragon Kind, direct lineage of the Immortal Sect, or other major powers. They only knew a few basic techniques and, once they lost the initiative or were specifically targeted, quickly found themselves in a dire situation.
It stimulated its Immortal Foundation, using a few self-invented spells to release golden mist as a defense. Against the combined attack of the two, it appeared pale and weak. The only real threat was the occasional appearance of a purple-black sharp beak.
This beak was incredibly hard and ready to spring into action, breaking thunderbolts with a single bite. Even with palms like gold, Kongheng had to avoid its sharp edges.
After a period of fighting between the two and the monster, Kongheng finally took out his ancient bronze staff. With a clanging and wobbling sound, he battered it until its skin and flesh were like mud, and the monster was on the verge of collapse.
The Cloud Octopus fought back stubbornly, but with a cultivation level similar to the former Fudaimoku, who at least had the benefit of originating from Witch Mountain and possessing a Foundation Establishment Magical Instrument, this monster was inferior in both aspects. Unable to withstand the blows, it continuously threw out Talismans and Spiritual Objects in defense.
After all, it was at the Foundation Establishment Late Stage and had no small number of treasures and Talismans. A night of fighting ensued, with the Cloud Octopus fleeing hundreds of miles southward, chased the entire way, leaving a trail of blood and golden mist, with flesh falling continuously.
Only when it reached the edge of the sea did Li Qinghong sever its eighth tentacle, finally disabling its ability to resist. Having fought all night, although she was greatly drained of mana, her momentum only grew stronger. Each spear thrust was now twice as powerful as at the beginning. Together with Kongheng, who was blocking the Cloud Octopus's paths, they managed to defeat the monster.
Li Qinghong forced the monster to transform, leaving only its head connected to a body resembling an old man with a saddle nose. With eyes closed, it begged for mercy. Li Qinghong sealed its Immortal Foundation and beak before Hui Yao and the two demons arrived.
