Chapter 619: A Friendly Ladybug

Still finding his bearings, Alex continues to discuss the next steps with Jewel, who seems to be quite calm and collected, her innate intelligence allowing her to absorb and remember a large amount of knowledge.

“We also have a lot of different options since this mission gives us almost complete freedom... we can rush and get the Dragon Balls and ignore everything else... or we can do the side quests as well. We have enough time... right?” Alex asks, not quite sure.

The time should be more than sufficient. After all, from the start of the tournament to King Piccolo’s defeat, only two days pass in the original story. Soulmate doesn’t need to worry. Princess Jewel has memorized most of the important details! She has researched almost a hundred worlds, including Dragon Ball!

Nice... I mean, I did as well... but I’m not good with dates and stuff... and geography... and all the other boring shit. So what do you say? Do we gather the Dragon Balls immediately?

Princess Jewel is scared of just going for the Dragon Balls... because the system mentioned that that would lead to an inferior Evolution result. She doesn’t want to restrict Soulmate, but she wants to try to achieve the best possible Evolution.

“Okay... I guess you make a valid point; let’s do what we can... that’s the whole point, why we are here, after all. Ideally, we’ll collect the Dragon Balls, and then, after we get them, we’ll try to complete whatever missions there are. If we’re unable to do so, we can simply make our wish and end the mission,” Alex argues. “The most important thing is that nobody else gathers them all and makes a wish, because that would be game over...”

Princess Jewel agrees. Though it pains her to say it... she suggests splitting up. Princess Jewel needs to acquire at least one Dragon Ball early, so the Main Mission can’t fail because someone summons Shenron, like Soulmate said.

“Really... are you sure?” Alex wonders. “How can you travel around in this world? It’s only one giant continent, but it’s huge... realistically, we need cars... or better, the advanced airplanes this world offers.”

Princess Jewel will be fine. She will just find some money and then ask greedy people to fly her around. Opportunities are everywhere, and speaking animals are not rare in this world. Princess Jewel will be fine.

“... Uhm. That sounds rather sketchy, if I’m being honest,” Alex replies. “Also, Jewel... I know that you don’t have any bad intentions, but this mission is a little more serious. The dangers have never been so great, and neither have the stakes. We need to be completely serious for once well, not completely, but you get my point, right? Benezia warned us... you need to trust me.”

Princess Jewel understands. She’s the one who wants to succeed more than anyone else. She won’t hold back... or play around! She’ll mercilessly kill anyone standing in the way of her ultimate goal.

“Uhm... yeah, if someone attacks you or something like that, kill them...” Alex says. “Like we’ve been doing all this time.”

No, Soulmate. Princess Jewel is sorry... but she wants to succeed at any cost. Decisive actions are required; she is willing to pay almost any price. She’ll cut off any of her non-required emotions and will ruthlessly tap into her bloodline... the goal needs to be accomplished at any price even if she has to kill every famous character, even the god of this world!

“That is...” Alex replies, “a valid choice. But... make sure you don’t blindly tap into your bloodline and lose sight of yourself and what you want to become. I want you to evolve, not devolve into a desperate, power-hungry monster.”

Soulmate... makes a good point. Princess Jewel will be careful... and remember.

“Good... I trust you, Jewel; you’ll probably make a better decision than me... just make sure to properly question your actions,” Alex says, smiling softly.

“So what do we do? For now, we stick together... where are we? Northern Wastelands?” Alex asks, looking around some more. “It’s a damn wasteland... it’s also a little cold... I guess because of the northern description, huh? Man, I could have become a detective; what a waste of talent.”

The Northern Wastelands are situated in the northwestern part of the central and only true continent of this planet. It’s the place where King Cold will eventually land when he tries to conquer this planet.

“Ah! So that’s where we are!” Alex says, nodding in agreement. “That’s nice to know... but I don’t have a visual on the world... I mean, do we have any priorities? What do we do?”

Soulmate, the Tournament will start on May 7th. Since it is very far away, Soulmate needs to focus on arriving there so he doesn’t miss it. It seems like a pretty important event to Princess Jewel and will connect to the next major plot point... the return of King Piccolo. Though his description of Demon King is quite inferior to Princess Jewel, who famously earned the nickname Demon Spider.

“Well... we’ll see who the true demon is,” Alex comments, grinning. 

“I agree, the tournament takes precedence. I also have a little side-quest just for myself.” Alex says, his eyes turning cold. “I just warned you about not losing yourself... but I guess some things need to be done whatever the consequences.”

Exactly! Soulmate should be nice when he can, but decisive and ruthless when he has to.

“So how do I get to the Tournament... where is it even?” Alex wonders.

On a small island near the south of the map. East of the biggest island of this world where South City is located, and west of the group of islands where the famous Turtle Peasant Roshi’s house is located. It’s called Papaya Island and is fairly big.

Princess Jewel suggests going directly south. The closest city is West City. Does Soulmate know what’s special about that city?

“Capsule Corp!” Alex immediately points out. “Yes... that sounds like the smart and obvious choice. I can come up with a bullshit story and then beg for an airship and money. I’m also very interested in Bulma’s hot moth—”

Realizing who he’s talking to, Alex quickly changes the topic.

“We just need to hurry and make it through this damn wasteland. I hope we won’t encounter any monsters,” Alex continues awkwardly.

“Jewel... I was just jo—” Alex tries to say, but is interrupted.

Soulmate! Princess Jewel detects an enemy! Please trust her.

Where?! I’m ready.

En! Princess Jewel senses a flying object, quite large, around 30 meters behind us. It’s hiding behind a rock... and it’s clearly aiming for us. It appears to be a large bug... but Princess Jewel senses no Aura. It must be a machine.

Let’s casually walk in that direction. A machine... huh?

As Alex says, he walks towards the location pointed out by Jewel.

Passing by the object, acting like nothing’s wrong, Jewel immediately warns him.

It’s still there!

Okay... since it’s a machine!

Alex immediately draws his [Draining Meteor Sword R2] and turns around, instantly casting Thundara, channeling it through his sword, increasing the potency immensely. 

Just as he is about to release his spell, he spots a weird red-colored bug, resembling a ladybug.

Deciding to trust Jewel, he still mercilessly casts his spell at the bug as a thunderous explosion targets the Ladybug, ripping it apart.

“Huh?” Alex wonders. “What is that...”

He walks up to the destroyed robot.

“What the fuck is this?” Alex wonders again as he picks up a White Chest. “Do you know... Jewel?”

Princess Jewel thinks it’s a device created by Dr. Gero... in charge of collecting DNA for the creation of Cell. Our appearance, probably because of the System transporting us here, must have triggered a nearby device, which decided to investigate.

“Cell...” Alex says, his face going pale. “I’m glad we’ll never have to fight the likes of him.”

Princess Jewel likes Perfect Cell; she wants to become as perfect as he is someday.

“Dude, fucking don’t...” Alex mutters, unable to even imagine what that would look like.

Alex switches to his Pluto set for just a second to increase his LUK and then opens the White Chest.

“But I can find out!” Alex realizes, taking out his [Destiny Watch (Orbment) R2]. 

“Hehe,” he laughs as he walks directly south, checking his position 

Princess Jewel is excited!

“Jewel... just one thing...” Alex mutters as he’s walking ahead.

Yes, Soulmate?

“Can you walk on your own... or at least move to my back... you are heavy— no chunky af.”

No! Princess Jewel refuses... she likes to sit on Soulmate’s head... and since she probably can’t do it for much longer, she insists!

Sighing loudly, Alex trudges ahead... “Fine... just for a bit longer.”
