Gu Fei nodded with a smile. "Then I’ll leave it in your hands."

"It’s almost noon. Miss Qin, would you like to stay for a meal? I’ll even give you a 20% discount."

"Our specialties include Braised Lion’s Head Meatballs, Sweet and Sour Mandarin Fish, Braised Shredded Dried Tofu, Tofu Pottage, Three-Servings Duck, Steamed Fish Head with Diced Hot Peppers, Stir-fried Pork with Chili Peppers..."

Qin Ying’s face darkened. She stood up and swiftly walked out with her maid.

Lian’er came over to clear away the teacups. Seeing Gu Fei in a good mood, she remarked, "My lady, you’re becoming more and more mischievous. I saw that miss was so angry her face darkened, yet you’re smiling so happily."

Gu Fei pinched her cheek. "Lian’er, your skin is getting smoother and softer these days."

Lian’er pursed her lips into a smile. "It’s a good thing you were born a girl, my lady. If you were a man, I can’t imagine how many girls’ hearts you’d break."

Just as they were laughing, Young Master Zhu and Young Master Zhou came in together.

Young Master Zhou entered and sat down in the main hall. Lian’er quickly went to serve him tea.

Young Master Zhu gestured to Gu Fei. "Miss Gu, let’s talk in the backyard."

The two went to the backyard. There was no one else around. Young Master Zhu took two sheets of paper from his robes and handed them to Gu Fei. "Miss Gu, this... I’ve been meaning to give this to you for a while, but I’ve been so busy lately that it slipped my mind."

Gu Fei opened them and saw a land deed. She looked closer. ’Isn’t this the very plot of land that Young Master Zhu bought before?’

’My family was even given about three acres from it.’

The other sheet was a sales contract, stating that the plot of nearly thirty acres was sold to Gu Fei. It was already stamped with Young Master Zhu’s seal and thumbprint.

"This... Young Master Zhu, why have you suddenly decided to sell me this land?"

Young Master Zhu waved his hand dismissively. "Sell? I’m not selling it. It’s a rare thing for this plot to be adjacent to your family’s land. I’ve long been meaning to gift it to you."

Just as Gu Fei was about to speak, Young Master Zhu said, "Miss Gu, you absolutely must not refuse. This land isn’t worth that much Silver anyway. Please consider it a small token of my gratitude."

"If it weren’t for you, this whole seafaring venture would have been impossible. Not only would we have been unable to buy the ships, but getting the permit from the Maritime Trade Office would have been difficult too."

"I have no other intentions. It’s just easier to manage the land when it’s all one piece. So please, do me the honor of accepting it."

With him putting it that way, Gu Fei couldn’t refuse. ’Another one I owe to God of Wealth Xiao,’ she thought.

"In that case, thank you very much, Young Master Zhu." Gu Fei put away the deed. Young Master Zhu clasped his hands and took his leave. "Miss Gu, it’s been a very busy time. I still have a pile of things to deal with, so I’ll be going now."

Gu Fei saw him out, then turned and walked over to Young Master Zhou. "Brother Zhou, did you need something?"

Young Master Zhou lowered his voice. "My father gave me the Silver from the antiques you sold. There are too many eyes and ears here. Come to my place, and I’ll give you the Silver. Sister Dan is holding the silver notes."

Gu Fei nodded, said a word to Lian’er, and went with Young Master Zhou.

Once inside, Sister Dan closed the door and took several silver notes from a small box. "Here. It’s forty-nine thousand, three hundred taels of silver in total. Keep them safe."

Gu Fei tucked the silver notes into her sleeve pocket. Sister Dan then handed her a sheet of paper. "This is a list of the prices for each item. See if the numbers add up."

Gu Fei quickly scanned the list, doing mental calculations as she read. After looking it over, she nodded. "No problem."

After taking the silver notes, Gu Fei thought for a moment and then headed toward their city residence to find her father.

Just as she reached the entrance, she saw the main gates were wide open. A line of several mule-drawn carts, laden with goods, was queuing to enter.

Her uncle was keeping watch at the entrance. Seeing Gu Fei approach, he hurried over to greet her. "Little Fei, you’re here! Looking for your father? He’s inside."

"Alright, I’ll go find him myself. You can get back to what you were doing, Uncle."
