Chapter 2838: Chapter 1211: Dark Night Giant Snake Dandel_3

There lived a multitude of prehistoric races and prehistoric civilizations, although none have endured to the present, the ruins and races they created on this continent have continued to influence the entire world.

The most typical are the lizard types, including but not limited to Naga, War Lizard, Lizardfolk, Serpent People, and others, some of which have already gone extinct on Planet Toril. They were created as servants by the Saruk Witch Python Empire, so they are also known as the Creator Race.

They thrived on Planet Toril for over ten thousand years, until an unexpected catastrophe befell the planet, causing the continent to collapse in earthquakes, fires, and storms, drastically altering its sea and land formations.

During this process, life was as fragile as ants, leading to a second mass extinction of species.

The surviving records of the Saruk Witch Python refer to it as "The Transformation of the Stars," but no one can now understand its specific meaning, including the Lizardfolk and Serpent People they created.

A relatively credible explanation is that a comet or icy satellite descended from the sky, destroying the entire planet, an event known as the Tearfall Disaster.

It was this disaster that established the continental distribution of Planet Toril as we know it today and ushered in an era of prosperity.

The legend of the Shadow Giant Snake Dandel has been passed down among different races, with differing versions, but one consistent aspect is that this greedy giant snake was sealed within Planet Toril.

"Your guess is not entirely correct." The Mother Earth sighed and said, "This matter is far more complicated than you think.

To understand the cause and effect, one must start from the birth of the Dark Night Giant Snake Dandel.

He has another lesser-known name—the Nightmare Giant Snake, born from the nightmare of the first sleeper in the realm..."

"Born from the nightmare of the realm’s first sleeper? Manipulating molten lava residual soul..." Gaven showed an incredulous expression and said, "This first sleeper wouldn’t be the lady, would it?"

The nightmare that could give birth to an ancient evil being could definitely not belong to ordinary people, only to True Gods.

And Mother Earth Shantiya coincidentally was the first True God on Planet Toril and could also be referred to as the first life.

The reason Gaven did not suspect the two Primordial Goddesses was naturally due to the close connection between that ancient evil and molten lava.

"Yes." The loving face of Mother Earth, Shantiya, flashed a trace of sorrow that could not be dispelled, "The state of Planet Toril at its birth was thousands, nay millions, of times more unstable than now. Even if I used all my strength, I could not soothe it.

Until the Gods won the Dawn War and entered the Thunder Era, this situation only eased, but it was still tenfold more unstable than now.

Volcanic eruptions and earthquakes were commonplace in the Ancient Era, countless lives perished in the earth’s roar.

This is my lingering nightmare.

The Dark Night Giant Snake was born from this nightmare and claimed it as his own. From then on, he fed on forgotten nightmares in this land.

Since the Dawn Era, this has continued relentlessly. Even that greedy snake probably doesn’t realize how many horrific dreams and dreadful visions he has already devoured, all absorbed into his body.

He and these nightmares were imprisoned by me and the Gods in the Earth’s core, hoping that one day he could be thoroughly burned away."

"The lady’s meaning is, the nightmare we just encountered was not the Dark Night Giant Snake’s, but yours, merely claimed by the Giant Snake?" Gaven questioned in disbelief.

The complexity of the situation truly exceeds imagination.

The Dark Night Giant Snake is clearly the dark side of the Goddess of Earth, representing the most berserk force within Planet Toril itself.

No wonder he can only be imprisoned within the planet’s interior, as even Mother Earth Shontia cannot completely eliminate him.

"Yes." Mother Earth nodded in affirmation, "The Dark Night Snake and I are like two sides of Planet Toril, I represent stability, prosperity, and flourishing, he represents destruction, pain, and nightmares.

When all life on the planet flourishes, my strength rapidly increases, conversely, he falls into weakness.

But when the world approaches chaos and life is devastated, my strength is suppressed, the Dark Night Giant Snake becomes highly active and exceptionally strong."

This succinct explanation from Mother Earth made Gaven understand, saying, "No wonder during disasters leading to the planet’s destruction, so rarely do we hear of the lady’s presence, is it not that you disregard those lives?

But rather that your strength was heavily damaged, simultaneously needing to maintain the planet’s stability, leaving no energy for anything else!"

This was always a moderately sized doubt in his heart.

After all, as the Creator of All Things on Planet Toril, when disaster strikes, she goes into divine concealment.

When the disaster ends and all things flourish again, she reappears in people’s sights, creating an impression of inaction.

Now it seems she was misunderstood, much of her work was not done visibly, but from perspectives unseen by ordinary people. The world repeatedly suffered devastating blows, only to quickly return to prosperity, likely due to this Goddess’s merit.

Mother Earth, discerning Gaven’s thoughts, said meaningfully, "This world is far more complex than you imagine. There is never an accidental event, especially in world-shattering matters, often hiding unknown occurrences."

Gaven naturally wouldn’t miss such an opportunity to learn, regarding the history of Planet Toril, likely no one knows more than the one before him, he asked, "The lady means that the Tearfall Disaster leading to the second mass extinction of life was not simply a natural calamity, but caused by an unknown divine war?"
