Fated love: the unwanted bride
Chapter 2534: Who Do You Take Me For? Hmm?
The mottled shadows from the sunset filtering through the leaves fell on his face, his chiseled features exuding a noble, serene, and stern aura, yet the gentle sunlight softened the profundity, adding a hint of warmth to him.
He wore a white shirt, the sleeves half-rolled up to his elbows.
The button at the collar of the shirt was undone, revealing a peek of his alluring collarbone.
He squatted there like that, holding a small, round lollipop in his right hand, with red candy wrapping.
The sunset elongated his shadow, dyeing his white shirt with a faint orange hue.
His shadow melded together with the shadows of the trees, mixing into one.
Jasmine Yale tightened her grip around Little Clementine, a look of shock in her eyes.
Little Clementine seemed unaware, her big, rolling eyes fixated solely on the red lollipop, very intently.
Before Jasmine Yale could speak, Little Clementine reached out with both hands, grabbing the lollipop, and looked up at Sylvan Cheney, giggling, her little mouth open in excitement.
As soon as she grabbed it, Sylvan Cheney let go, and the lollipop was securely grasped in Little Clementine’s palm.
Got it! Little Clementine was very happy!
Jasmine Yale withdrew her gaze without looking at Sylvan Cheney, and instead, she bent down and pulled the lollipop from Little Clementine’s hand, throwing it to the ground.
"Little Clementine, how many times have I told you, you can’t take things from strangers, do you understand?"
Little Clementine looked up at Jasmine Yale with big eyes, her gaze filled with grievance and innocence.
Whether it was because Jasmine Yale’s expression was too fierce, or because the lollipop was thrown away, Little Clementine was very upset, her big eyes welling with tears, about to cry.
Jasmine Yale didn’t lift her head, pulling over the stroller, swiftly placing Little Clementine inside.
Little Clementine was not willing; she hadn’t played enough yet.
She kicked her little legs, struggling hard, looking like she was about to cry.
"Let’s go, time to go home." Jasmine Yale’s face was indifferent.
The sunset fell, her face full of a cold demeanor.
Sylvan Cheney stood up, slightly frowning, and picked up the lollipop from the ground: "Can’t you let me hold her for a moment?"
"Sylvan Cheney, why do you still appear in front of me? Do you think the harm you’ve done to me isn’t enough?" Jasmine Yale looked up at him, "What does Little Clementine have to do with you? In what capacity do you want to hold her? From a young age, I’ve taught her not to approach strangers, I won’t let her be hurt by strangers."
"I wouldn’t hurt a child."
"You would."
"Jasmine Yale, what do you take me for? Hm?" Sylvan Cheney’s face showed anger.
"I haven’t forgotten how you secretly took Little Clementine away at the lantern festival, and I won’t forget it."
"Even with ordinary people in the park, you would let them hold Little Clementine, wouldn’t you?"
"But here with you, you’re not even as good as an ordinary person," Jasmine Yale sneered, looking at him with disdain, "Sylvan Cheney, if you like children, Erin Janus’ child will be born soon, you can hold that child every day. Why do you want to hold Little Clementine? Have you forgotten, Little Clementine is the child of my husband and me."
"Your daughter is very cute."
"You and Miss Janus’ child will be even cuter."
"I mean no harm, truly," Sylvan Cheney looked at her, a sincere light in his eyes.
"I’m rather dense, I can’t tell the difference," Jasmine Yale said blandly, "Since you bear malice towards me, how do I know you bear no malice towards Little Clementine?"
As Jasmine Yale spoke with Sylvan Cheney, Little Clementine peeked her little head out from the stroller.
