Fated love: the unwanted bride
Chapter 2541: Rarely Any News of Sylvan Cheney
Jasmine Yale didn’t understand what exactly he was complimenting, so she looked down at the little rubber duck in her hand: "CEO Caddel, you’ll have a cute child of your own someday too."
"Maybe." Will Caddel replied nonchalantly, sitting down, "Would you like something to drink? The plane is about to board."
"I’ll just sit here and go over some documents." She put away the toy, "CEO Caddel, are your eyes tired? If so, don’t forget to use eye drops. I also have an eye mask in my bag."
"You’re very caring. Being with you must be a pleasure."
"Only CEO Caddel would compliment me like that. Actually, I used to be quite annoying." Jasmine’s voice was gentle, "Some said I was immature, some said I was worrisome, and some even called me dumb..."
"Really?" Will Caddel chuckled, "Couldn’t they see your strengths?"
"Maybe my flaws overshadowed them back then. Besides, I don’t have that many strengths."
"How could that be, you’re still so lacking in confidence. You’re kind, pure, and can make people feel warm. Being around you isn’t tiring. But sometimes you’re too strong and too closed off, making it hard for others to get close to you."
Jasmine fell silent. She felt that Will Caddel wasn’t wrong.
It’s not that she deliberately shut herself off, but after her open heart had been hurt, she got used to closing off, hiding. This way, she wouldn’t get hurt again.
"I’ve said too much, my apologies." Will Caddel looked at her, "Let’s get our things together, ready for boarding."
"Mm!" Jasmine nodded.
Will Caddel had only brought Jasmine as his secretary. Sometimes the two would discuss project financing and construction, and other times, they’d talk about issues with other companies’ projects in Cakago.
On the plane, Will Caddel rubbed his temples and ordered a brandy, drinking quietly on his own.
The destination was five hours away.
Jasmine was flipping through documents, reading newspapers.
She didn’t quite understand why Will Caddel drank; maybe to men, drinking was like having tea, but she couldn’t do that. She would avoid alcohol as much as possible.
She flipped through today’s latest newspaper.
The finance section inevitably covered news from the James Group’s Old York Headquarters.
Lately, there had been a lot of news about the James Group, almost taking over the front pages, especially that highly publicized financial district project.
Kieran Janus was ambitious and attracted endless financing, determined to succeed in this project.
This was Kieran Janus’s first major project after taking over the James Group, and he was determined to make it a success, to hold the economic lifeline of the James Group in his own hands.
There was little news about Sylvan Cheney in the papers or the media, and at most his foreign name "Evan" was briefly mentioned.
Jasmine knew that once Sylvan Cheney succeeded in this project, he’d be second only to one and superior to thousands in Old York, enjoying endless wealth, power, and status.
Isn’t that exactly what he wants?
By then, he’d truly be a winner in life, with a successful career and a happy family, having everything.
Especially now with Erin Janus pregnant, his life seemed even more complete.
It’s quite good, there’s nothing wrong with that.
Everyone has the right to make their own choices.
Jasmine flipped the financial section of the newspaper past and looked at the other pages.
There wasn’t any particularly interesting news, so she furrowed her brow, tossed the paper aside, opened the video screen in front of her seat, and rested her head while watching a movie.
The plane streaked through the night sky, heading toward Conada.
