Fated love: the unwanted bride
Chapter 2559: Your Daughter Kicked Me Again Today
The gentle evening breeze brushed against their faces, so comfortable and peaceful.
People around came and went, arriving and departing.
"CEO Cheney, how have you been recently?" Butler Santana looked at Sylvan Cheney’s slightly slender face, "Been busy with work and social events?"
"It’s alright."
He was always like that, not saying much, and Butler Santana didn’t ask more.
Little Clementine lay comfortably in Sylvan Cheney’s arms, playing happily by herself.
Just as Butler Santana was about to ask something else, Jasmine Yale came running downstairs in her slippers, rushing towards them!
"Little Clementine!" Jasmine Yale approached, barely steadying her steps, reaching out to hold Little Clementine.
Little Clementine recognized Jasmine Yale’s voice, glanced over, and quickly grabbed Sylvan Cheney’s shirt with her little hands, burying her face in his chest.
"Let mommy hold you, Little Clementine, are you being disobedient? Let mommy hold you."
Little Clementine refused, clinging to Sylvan Cheney tightly with her hands and feet.
Jasmine Yale frowned, knowing all too well that habits were an awful thing, especially those subconscious ones.
She forcibly took Little Clementine from Sylvan Cheney’s arms, using quite a bit of effort.
Sylvan Cheney’s hands were empty, hanging helplessly at his sides.
"Alright, Little Clementine, mommy has made your favorite milk powder upstairs. Let’s go have milk."
Little Clementine resisted, squirming around in Jasmine Yale’s arms, refusing to return.
Butler Santana said, "Miss Yale, Little Clementine likes being outside. How about letting her play a while longer?"
Jasmine Yale didn’t know that Butler Santana had taken Little Clementine downstairs, nor did she know what Butler Santana had discussed with Sylvan Cheney. She remained silent for a while, a cool gleam in her eyes.
"Children don’t really know what they want. She’s still young, always running outside isn’t good. What if a stranger takes her away next time?" Jasmine Yale said indifferently.
Butler Santana understood Jasmine Yale was referring to something.
The shadow of Little Clementine’s last disappearance still lingered for them all.
Sylvan Cheney’s gaze was fixed on Jasmine Yale’s face; her hair was uncombed, perhaps in her haste to come down.
He seemed not to hear Jasmine Yale’s words, continuously watching her.
Meanwhile, Little Clementine looked at Sylvan Cheney, stretching out her little hands toward him.
The night breeze was slightly chilly, scattering Jasmine Yale’s messy hair, lifting the fragments on her forehead.
The street was quiet.
Little Clementine continued to stare longingly at Sylvan Cheney.
Jasmine Yale held her tiny hand firmly, turned around, and walked forward.
Just as Sylvan Cheney was about to speak, his phone rang.
"Evan, how many days are you traveling? When will you return to Old York?" The voice on the other line was sweet and gentle, full of happiness, "Your daughter kicked me again today, causing quite a fuss, she’s not behaving at all."
"I’ll be back in a couple of days."
"Two more days? Alright then, that’s when I need to go for a check-up, you should come with me."
"Okay."
"Alright, you carry on, I’m going to eat something, ever since I got pregnant, I get hungry easily, feeling like eating grapes now."
"Ask the butler to get them for you."
"The ones the butler buys are never as tasty as the ones you get. While you’re traveling, remember to bring back gifts for me. Not just mine, but you also have to bring our daughter’s gifts, don’t just favor me. Even though I know you do favor me." Erin Janus laughed softly, talking non-stop, showing no intention of hanging up.
Jasmine Yale continued to stride forward.
