He held an umbrella in one hand and had the other in the pocket of his slacks, his cold demeanor becoming even colder in the rain, like covered by a thin layer of frost.

At the moment she appeared at the corner, he spotted her, his gaze following her steps slowly.

He stood under the tree, she stood under the eaves, the distance between them not far.

Wind lifted the nighttime mist, floating and swirling, enveloping between them.

Beyond the mist, Jasmine Yale couldn’t quite see Sylvan Cheney’s expression, only knew he held an umbrella, his face showing little emotion.

The rain outside was heavy, accumulating water on the ground.

Jasmine stood under the eaves, even though she had her umbrella open, she didn’t want to move forward, afraid her little leather shoes would get dirty.

Or perhaps, he wasn’t worth her moving forward.

She stood there silently, looking straight ahead at him.

While she watched him, he watched her too, the same gaze from the night.

Tired of looking, she lowered her head or moved her gaze elsewhere, while he continued to watch her.

Between them, the rain mist was still dispersing, hazy and illusory.

Jasmine felt cold, so she simply closed the umbrella and hugged her arms tightly.

After standing for a long time, Sylvan still didn’t speak, standing in the rain like a statue, motionless.

The rain was heavy, wetting his shoulders, but he seemed not to notice.

Finally, Jasmine became impatient and looked indifferently at him: "It’s very cold at night, if you have nothing to say, I’m going upstairs."

Suddenly, Sylvan strode over, his black leather shoes stepping through the rain, splashing droplets.

Crossed puddles, crossed mist.

In the dim hallway, he discarded the umbrella, grabbed her shoulder, pinning her against the wall, a kiss landing.

His lips were cold.

The kiss, intense.

Jasmine staggered as he pinned her against the wall, grabbing his arm.

Sylvan kissed her forcefully, fiercely and swiftly, the kiss like trying to devour her whole, rich and lasting!

Again and again, he left her no space to breathe.

Jasmine’s hands pinched his arm, pinching hard, attempting to make him release her.

She hadn’t expected him to kiss her, catching her off guard.

Sylvan’s arm hurt from her pinching, but he didn’t relinquish this intense kiss, holding her head firmly.

Ambiguous sounds echoed in the air, mixed with the sound of rain, endless.

Jasmine tried to bite him, but he simply held her face, as if using all his strength to kiss.

Jasmine was forced to close her eyes, letting out a whimper, like a trapped beast, cornered between the walls, unable to move.

He won’t let her move.

The rain, growing heavier.

The kiss, unceasing.

Jasmine’s face was flushed red, under dim lighting, forced to accept his ice-cold lips, a heatless kiss, her hands pinching his arms.

For as long as he kissed her, she pinched him.

He was already pained enough to furrow his brows, yet even so, he had no intention of letting go.

Several times, Jasmine found herself gasping, almost suffocating, but Sylvan just wouldn’t release her.

Their chests both heaving, their hearts pounding "thump-thump" vehemently, as if on the verge of leaping out.

His chest pressed against hers, heart to heart with no distance.

Jasmine opened her eyes, under not-so-clear lighting, clearly seeing Sylvan’s eyes.

While he kissed her, he kept watching her.

In his pupils, she also saw herself, so close they were, close enough she could count his long eyelashes...
