Fated love: the unwanted bride

Chapter 2748: I Have No Family

Jasmine Yale smiled, “It’s a replica, not an original.”

“Really?” The girl talked about it knowledgeably, “It looks real, but replicas these days are really impressive, sometimes even more authentic than the real ones. I want to work hard in the future, earn more money, and hopefully buy everything I love!”

Jasmine Yale just smiled, not contradicting her.

It’s nice for young girls to have such thoughts.

Maybe it was because she hadn’t interacted with college students in a long time, but Jasmine Yale found being with them very invigorating and would sometimes listen to them vent about their professors.

However, the two girls didn’t have much patience and were already clamoring to leave after just half a day.

They glanced at Jasmine Yale’s work notes, probably understanding the situation of the orphanage here.

“Teacher Yale, are you going to stay here for a long time?” the girls chattered on.

“I have no plans on leaving for now.”

“Don’t you find it boring? Doing the same thing every day.”

“Every day has its own scenery and weather, how can it be the same? Every day is different for me. Isn’t it delightful when a child who couldn’t recite a poem yesterday suddenly can today?”

“Okay, Teacher Yale, you really have patience, not many people like you. Does your family support you? I see your daughter is still here.”

“I don’t have a family.”

“Oh, I’m sorry, Teacher Yale.”

“It’s fine.”

As they chatted, it grew late.

The early winter nights were very cold, and after nightfall, no one ventured out.

Principal Warner arranged a place for them to stay, and after chatting with them for a while, Jasmine Yale walked back home through the orphanage.

Outside, the moonlight was bright, and the cold wind blew in gusts.

Jasmine Yale tightened her scarf, hands in her coat pockets, walking back beneath the tree shadows.

The air was filled with the fragrance of grass and earth, a rich and intense natural scent.

The wind stung her face, piercingly cold.

She had bundled up tightly but still felt a bit chilly.

Perhaps due to her impending period, her stomach ached faintly, cold sweat on her back, and her palms were sweaty.

The wind lifted her long hair and scarf as she walked along the dirt road, occasionally hearing weak insect chirps from the roadside bushes.

In this season, everything was beginning to hibernate.

“Teacher Yale!” someone called from behind.

Jasmine Yale stopped and turned around.

It turned out to be one of the boys; if she remembered correctly, his name was Joshua Emmett.

Jasmine Yale smiled faintly, wearing a gentle expression in the moonlight, “What’s the matter?”

“Teacher Yale, you look a bit unwell, are you feeling alright?”

“I’m fine, just a bit too cold today.”

“Let me walk you back then, I have some ideas I’d like to discuss with you. My dad works in charity, and I’ve learned a bit from him since I was young. I’ve always wanted to do something myself. I think you have a lot of insight, so… I’d like to chat with you.” The tall, thin boy with gold-rimmed glasses spoke softly, even a bit shyly.

Jasmine Yale nodded, “I’m happy to help with anything.”

“Great!”

Joshua Emmett was delighted. He moved to Jasmine Yale’s side, his tall frame shielding her from some of the cold wind, as he began to share his thoughts with her.
