Before getting off the car, Xiao Lang took out the household registration book, ID card, and other things from the storage box in the car.

"Where are your documents?" he casually asked Li Mingxi, "Let me hold them together."

Li Mingxi glanced at the things in his hand and immediately knew something was wrong.

She said guiltily, "I forgot to bring them..."

Xiao Lang stared at her sharply, "Forgot all of them?!"

"Yeah. My documents are all confiscated by my mom, and I didn’t remember to ask her for them."

Xiao Lang felt both amused and helpless.

"Li Mingxi, can you be any dumber?!"

Li Mingxi laughed sheepishly, "It’s not really my fault, my mom also forgot to give them back. Honestly, it’s all my mom’s fault... She knows it’s my first time getting married, no experience, yet she didn’t remind me at all..."

"Alright, I’m not angry. Don’t blame your mother-in-law either; she’s probably just too busy to think straight. No worries, we can go back to get them, we still have time."

"You’re right, let’s go back and get them."

Seeing her say this, Xiao Lang breathed a sigh of relief.

He wasn’t worried about going back to get the documents again; he was afraid Li Mingxi might use it as an excuse to avoid the marriage.

Just as they planned to go back for the household registration book, Li’s mother called them.

Li’s mother said Li Mingxi forgot to bring the household registration book and ID card, and she was bringing them over right away, asking them to wait and not leave.

Li’s mother bringing them saved time compared to them going back, so Xiao Lang thanked her and waited with Li Mingxi at the civil affairs bureau entrance.

Soon, Li’s mother arrived, and upon seeing her, Xiao Lang broke into a big smile.

He went up to take the stuff and cheerfully said, "Mom, thank goodness you brought them, thank you."

"What thanks, it’s all my fault for forgetting to give them back to Mingxi. Alright, I’m leaving, you guys must get married."

Xiao Lang nodded and assured her, "We will, we will!"

Li Mingxi: "..."

Li’s mother left, and Li Mingxi wanted her household registration book back, but Xiao Lang wouldn’t give it to her, saying he’d give it to her after they’re married.

Li Mingxi couldn’t help but chuckle; was he afraid she wouldn’t marry him?

If she didn’t get married, he couldn’t get married with only a book.

Li Mingxi didn’t argue with him, just let him be.

Soon, the staff at the civil affairs bureau finally started their workday.

Xiao Lang and Li Mingxi were still the first couple to get married; the registration process went smoothly, and Xiao Lang’s face never lost its smile after they received their marriage certificates.

Upon leaving the civil affairs bureau, Li Mingxi still felt a bit dazed.

Sigh, just like that, they’re married; there’s really no turning back...

Xiao Lang squeezed her hand, "What are you thinking?"

"I haven’t even had a single party as a single person and suddenly bid farewell to being single—it feels a bit rushed," Li Mingxi said.

Xiao Lang laughed, "You can have a newlywed party, either way, it’s a celebration."

"Alright then..."

"Let’s go, we need to pick out furniture. The new house is waiting for you to decorate."

Xiao Lang pulled Li Mingxi into the car, started the engine, and headed towards the furniture market.

On the way, Xiao Lang called Li’s mother to tell her they had registered.

Li’s mother was very happy and asked them to come home for lunch.

"Mom, Mingxi and I are going to buy furniture. We probably won’t make it for lunch; we’ll come by in the evening."

"That’s fine, then I’ll hang up now."

"Alright, Mom, goodbye." Xiao Lang hung up the phone, still in a joyful mood, while Li Mingxi gave him a disgruntled look.

"Why do I feel like that’s your mom, not mine?"

He didn’t even let her say a few words to her mom, just hung up the phone directly.
