Fated To Three, And I Broke Them All
Chapter 370-Take Care Of Me
Gigi:
Five days had passed, and it was finally time for me to be discharged from the hospital.
To be honest, I had gotten so used to all the attention.
Theodore and Jaguar would come into my room first thing in the morning and sit with me, doing everything they could to cheer me up.
At that point, if I had asked them for the moon and stars, they probably would have found a way to give them to me.
Then there was Ragnar.
He would leave all his work behind just to come and sit with me.
I even got him to do things he normally wouldn’t, like reading books to me.
Although, saying I made him do it wasn’t entirely true.
He refused to read the erotica novel I had picked.
I would ask him innocently ’why not erotica?’ and he would simply just shrug.
In the end, he chose a suspense novel instead, something much more suited to his taste.
My parents had visited me once after everything happened, and every time I saw them afterward, they looked as though they were on the verge of tears.
My father was furious, but there was no one he could direct his anger toward.
My mother was simply heartbroken.
"So, we’re taking you home," my mother said with a smile.
Her smile looked strained and broken.
For a moment, I felt bad for her. I wanted to tell her to calm down, that nothing terrible had actually happened to me.
But if I told her the truth, sooner or later, it would reach someone else’s ears.
So I had to keep the secret to myself.
"My pure daughter. Such beauty is becoming a curse for you."
My mother gently placed her hand on my head before brushing her fingers over my cheek.
Then she looked away, probably trying to hide her tears.
"Well, if I had known my purity and innocence would become such a problem, I would’ve done something about my beauty," I sighed.
My mother only looked more worried.
That was when Ragnar arrived.
"Okay, you’re good to go home," he told me.
I nodded while my mother watched me with wide eyes.
"So, we’re taking her with us," she said with a broken smile.
Ragnar nodded. "Sure."
He moved to help gather my things, but my mother spoke again.
"Actually, I was thinking...why don’t you take her home with you? I think she’ll feel much better if she’s around you."
The suggestion came from her heart. It wasn’t because she didn’t want to take care of me.
There was only one reason behind it, and she had mentioned it countless times during her visits.
She was afraid that everything that had happened would make Ragnar think I wasn’t the perfect mate for him anymore.
Alpha kings had enormous egos. Everyone knew that, and it wasn’t some myth.
There had been alpha kings in the past who had done reckless things to their mates, even abandoning them after discovering that their mate had so much as thought about someone else because they no longer considered her pure.
So now my mother was trying to make Ragnar spend more time with me so that, in her words, he could ’fall for me again.’
But he didn’t need to fall for me again.
I knew he was still in love with me.
"Mom, please. I don’t want them worrying about me. I don’t want to be a burden," I requested dramatically, keeping my voice deliberately slow and soft.
I have learned to speak even more calmly now, almost delicately.
The reason was simple.
I didn’t want them to think I was still the same Gigi.
I wanted to give them the impression that something inside me had changed, that a part of me had died and they needed to bring it back to life.
"Oh, my poor daughter. Look at her." My mother’s eyes filled with tears again. "And yes, you’re right. They have other important things to take care of. I’ll take you home."
"We heard someone is leaving today."
A teasing knock sounded against the already open door before Jaguar and Theodore stormed into the room, both smiling widely.
"Yeah. Mom wanted me to go home with you guys, but I didn’t want to burden you," I continued.
Ragnar was flipping through my file and medical reports.
Everything was fine, but I had noticed how suddenly interested he became in them the moment my mother suggested taking me home with him.
He hadn’t even said, ’Yeah, that’s a good idea.’
If he thought he had managed to dodge the subject without making things awkward, he was wrong.
I noticed. I just wasn’t going to call him out on it right away because that would make me look desperate.
"Why is she forcing it? Don’t you want to come home with us?" Jaguar asked.
Thankfully, Jaguar and Theodore were different.
The moment they heard my mother’s suggestion, both of them immediately nodded in agreement.
"You guys have work and everything, and, you know, with my mental health right now..." I lowered my gaze. "I’m a burden now."
As soon as I said it, I glanced at Jaguar.
His eyes lifted to mine, and a slight frown creased his forehead, almost as if he understood what I was trying to do.
"You’re never a burden to me, Gigi," Ragnar replied, grabbing his car keys and my files. "You’re coming home with us."
"Really? I wouldn’t be a burden?" I asked while smiling.
Jaguar and Theodore both frowned at me.
"Of course not. Come on, let’s help you up."
They started walking toward me, but my mother quickly stepped between us.
"That won’t be necessary. Carry her bags instead."
My mood soured almost immediately when she stopped them from coming near me.
It took me a moment to realize why, and by then, I remembered it was entirely my own fault.
To get the seer’s address, I had told my mother lies about them.
Of course she believed them now.
"Okay."
Innocent as they were, neither Jaguar nor Theodore seemed to think much of it.
They gathered my things while Ragnar took my hand and helped me off the bed.
