Fierce Horror Dorm: Take a Concubine to Get Stronger

Chapter 697: The Faceless Infiltration Plan Collapses, the Luck Pool

  • Next Chapter

In the Demon King Castle, Xu Lang was waiting.

Because of his interference, these rounds had already diverged significantly from the Simulation Dream, and this difference was even reflected in the game rules.

And Xu Lang never feared such changes.

The reason was simple.

He could still simulate again!

After the sixth round began, he would definitely run another simulation to ensure that the final victor would be himself, not Mad King Building or any other dormitory building.

"In the dream, the sixth round was simulated pioneering, occupying strongholds to win."

"The Evil King Building players didn't prioritize clearing the monsters on their own side. Instead, they hunted other players, dominating."

"At that point, Evil King Building would also grant players the authority to control Building Guards. That was somewhat troublesome."

In the dream, Evil King Building dominated.

In reality, Xu Lang dominated Evil King Building players!

After the filtering of the Endless Free-for-All, the surviving Evil King Building players were all absolute elites, and Xu Lang was practically drooling over them.

To him, these Evil King Building players were the finest resources.

"Is there a possibility that I could intercept the control authority over the Building Guards ahead of time?"

Building Guard control wasn't some kind of lootable item. It was authority bestowed by Evil King Building. Those who held the authority had a tattoo on their arm, something Xu Lang remembered vividly.

Maybe it was actually worth a try.

The moment the thought crossed his mind, he acted. Xu Lang began contacting the subsidiary Tales of the Taleblade Demon Box.

...

Evil King Building, Death Sha House.

A young man stood before the dormitory door, pounding on it forcefully.

A moment later, a burly man with a scarred face came to the iron-barred window. Seeing the young man, he exclaimed in surprise, "Centipede? Didn't you die?"

"Go fetch the Dorm Owner immediately. I have urgent news to report!" the young man said in a deep voice.

"Alright, wait here." The scarred burly man went back inside.

Before long, the scarred burly man returned with another man of imposing stature.

His jaw was wide and thick, like a washbasin, giving him a truly peculiar appearance.

"You're not Centipede, are you?" The Death Sha House Dorm Owner tilted his head and said calmly.

The scarred burly man's expression turned grim, his palm resting on the grip of the Turret.

"I am." The young man nodded, then shook his head. "During the Endless Free-for-All, I used an item from the Blood Mist World and survived, but I was struck from Evil King Building's roster!"

"Now, answer a few of my questions. Don't hesitate." The Death Sha House Dorm Owner's eyes gleamed sharply as he spoke flatly.

"Alright." The young man's speech was clipped, flat, and rapid, and his face was like a dead man's mask, showing little joy at having returned from the dead.

The Death Sha House Dorm Owner narrowed his eyes and fired off several questions in a row. The young man answered them all fluently. What he knew, he said he knew. What he didn't, he said he didn't. He answered everything truthfully.

Finally, the Death Sha House Dorm Owner opened the door.

"Come in."

"Fine, but close the Death Sha air vents. I'm afraid I'll get flagged as a monster."

The Death Sha House Dorm Owner exchanged a glance with the scarred burly man, their minds fully at ease.

A few minutes later, the Faceless was killed on the spot, and then, following the immortal rules of Tales, returned to the third level of the Infinite Purgatory, "Formless."

...

"Damn it!"

Xu Lang cursed inwardly.

The Faceless had two ways to replace its original.

First, when someone forgot a certain memory, the Faceless would replace that memory, claim it as its own, and appear in the guise of a departed relative, friend, or passerby.

Second, when someone entered the Formless Purgatory, lost all their identity and definitions, and was completely replaced by the Faceless.

Centipede was someone Xu Lang personally threw into the Formless Purgatory amid the chaos. The man himself was already dead, completely replaced by the Faceless.

The Faceless's infiltration ability was undoubtedly top-tier. Even a Veteran Player like the Death Sha House Dorm Owner would fall for it.

But no matter how top-tier it was, it couldn't beat a dormitory building!

Evil King Building's detection system was too thorough!

The Death Sha House Dorm Owner and his people were cohabitating with a Tale, and over time, they would become tainted by its power. And this kind of negative BUFF, the dormitory building would warn the players about it!

The plan to hollow out a dormitory building using the Faceless had collapsed on the spot!

The faction the player had backing them was pretty tough, the same kind as his own.

"The timing should be about right. Let's go grab the Sequence first."

Xu Lang lay on the bed, staring up at the ceiling of the Nightmare Bed.

Once he squeezed another Sequence Holder dry, the sixth round should begin.

...

Amusement Park Building.

A pool like a hot spring, steaming with vapor, shimmering with rainbow colors.

This was Amusement Park Building's special structure, the "Luck Pool," where players could fish using their lifespan.

Of course, only Amusement Park Building players could use it.

Not long after the Luck Pool appeared, it was claimed exclusively by Youle, becoming one of her territories.

And with the True King Duel underway, Youle had temporarily opened up the Luck Pool, offering a hefty prize: whoever could fish up the Golden Koi would receive a level-eight dormitory room and a full set of equipment.

At this very moment, the Luck Pool was packed to the brim, with bursts of cheering erupting from time to time.

"Got one! Got one! A blue Fortune Koi!"

"Old Wang, go redeem your prize quick! One purple Fortune Koi can be exchanged for a Legendary item!"

"No, I want to exchange for Free Attribute points!"

"I'm so jealous! I want to play too!"

"Damn, all you non-players, move aside! I'm using twenty years of my lifespan to get a top-tier fishing line!"

"I want to play too!"

Above the Luck Pool, purple light blazed, the crowd seething with excitement. If not for Youle's tenants keeping order, the scene would have been even more chaotic.

Youle had already set the rules.

If you wanted to fish, fine, but you had to spend at least ten years of your lifespan at the shop to exchange for a premium fishing line, or you weren't allowed to fish.

Time was limited.

The rest period was only 30 minutes, and it would pass quickly.

Youle lay on a rocking chair by the pool, a fishing line in her hand as well, an ordinary one purchased with one year of lifespan.

In theory, every fishing line had a chance to catch a high-quality big fish. She wanted to test her luck too.

Many of Amusement Park Building's top powerhouses had risen thanks to the Luck Pool, which was why it was also called the "Gambler's Pool."

"How much longer?"

Just then, a male Amusement Park Building player sidled up next to Youle.

Youle's expression shifted slightly. She fixed her gaze on this player's face for a few seconds, then said in a low voice, "You're Xu Lang?"

"Mhm." The male player nodded.

"How did you find me? Don't tell me you have a Legendary-grade detection item?" Youle asked nonchalantly.

"The mask you're wearing is an Epic-grade item. There's no way my Legendary stuff could detect you." Xu Lang tapped Youle's half-face mask and smiled lightly.

Youle's heart sank, but then she felt a genuine joy welling up from within. "Playing a game with a High-Level Player like you feels really nice."

"How much longer?" Xu Lang repeated.

"Well... I don't know either, but it should be soon. Actually, you might want to stay hidden a little longer. I'm afraid the Amusement Park Building will find out what we've been up to." Youle sounded hesitant.

During this special period, the probability of fishing up high-value fish at the Luck Pool had clearly increased. Catching the most valuable Golden Koi shouldn't be too hard, at most a matter of time. But once Xu Lang showed up, that was no longer guaranteed.

Xu Lang glanced at the signboard by the pool listing fish values, then shook his head. "Your dormitory building isn't very smart. And dormitory buildings don't handle everything personally. At most, they adjust certain probabilities."

Youle's experience dealing with dormitory buildings was still far too limited.

It was rare for Xu Lang to share wisdom with an outsider, revealing some high-level information.

Seeming to sense that Xu Lang was in a good mood, Youle's smile immediately turned warm. She was just about to say something more when a radiant golden light suddenly rose from the surface of the lake, dyeing the entire Luck Pool a brilliant gold!
