Find a Troubled Girl after leaving the Guild
Chapter 1020 - 501: Temporarily Restoring the Collapsing Mountain (Part 3)
Chapter 1020: Chapter 501: Temporarily Restoring the Collapsing Mountain (Part 3)
At first glance, it seemed chaotic, but just as one could sense the divinity intended by the artist from temple sculptures, Li Ang and his companions could also feel the endless battle spirit and the sharp intent brought by the weapon sculptures from these metal statues.
The steps leading upstairs were also made of various types of metal with soft colors, bright yet distinctly distinguishable. However, standing on the central large step was a blonde woman of the Haven Race.
She appeared somewhat older, even though this race often resembled human children, the marks left by time were hard to conceal.
Based on the resemblance, she ought to be Elaphia’s mother.
"Elaphia!"
The middle-aged Haven woman lifted her skirt and hurriedly ran down the stairs toward Elaphia. From her movements, it was clear that she must have once been a Warrior, but was out of practice.
"Mother." Elaphia quietly excused herself from the others and walked forward to meet her.
Excuse herself? Normally, wouldn’t she introduce everyone? Li Ang was puzzled and noticed Falo’s complex expression.
"How come you’re back? Weren’t you on vacation?" Elaphia asked.
"I heard the Martial Extreme Trial was moved up; I was worried, so I had to come back and see." Elaphia’s mother’s face was full of concern.
Li Ang glanced at her stats, Tier Five Warrior, but her capabilities were reduced to Tier One, and she didn’t have a Craftsmanship Profession.
It wasn’t that he was being impolite, but this showed that the lady’s own strength could not aid Aifei. Moreover, her words were peculiar; if she was completely concerned, wouldn’t she be handling all the support issues for Elaphia? Yet, she was on vacation.
The middle-aged woman looked behind Elaphia; she evidently recognized Farlonio but did not speak to her, and she didn’t pay attention to Li Ang’s group, who appeared as Aifei’s attendants.
Unable to find her target, Aifei’s mother seemed anxious: "Have you seen Urbian?"
"Urbian? Didn’t he go with you?" Elaphia frowned.
"Some people suddenly came looking for him, so he left. He has many friends from all ways, so I thought he went off to play somewhere, and once he’s had enough fun, he would return home, so I also came back. But I couldn’t find him anywhere at home, and..."
Aifei’s mother nagged on about her brother’s matters, a situation quite typical of many middle-aged mothers.
However, it’s rare for a mother to speak incessantly on such occasions.
Elaphia tilted her face slightly, quickly looking at the four people behind her from the corner of her eye.
Li Ang was initially a bit nervous and embarrassed because they hadn’t had the chance to tell Aifei about Urbian. He didn’t know the most suitable way to say it and was waiting for Farlonio to do so, as he thought Crafty Merchant Douding should prioritize bringing it up first, but he never did.
To Li Ang’s surprise, an awkward expression appeared on Elaphia’s face for the first time.
As her mother continued talking, the blond young girl unconsciously clenched her fists.
"...And you, as the elder sister, now in control of the family, you should also take better care of him, at least make sure he stays focused. You..."
"Mother, please go rest first, the Martial Extreme Trial still needs handling." Elaphia interrupted her mother’s lengthy rambling.
"I know you have important matters to attend to, I’m just talking to you. After all, you have only this one brother, if he pulls himself together, perhaps it’s better for inheriting..."
"Every time I discipline him, you secretly release him, or deliver food and supplies, making being grounded even more comfortable than staying home, like a vacation, isn’t it!"
Elaphia’s tone suddenly rose slightly, although the difference was small, those familiar with her could immediately tell.
Clearly, she should have maintained composure given the situation, but she lost her grace.
She quickly glanced at the few people behind her again, the blond girl lowered her voice.
"He’s already an adult, he should take good care of himself. There’s nothing wrong with you wanting to take more care of him, but the Martial Extreme Trial is the most important matter for the clan. I don’t seek glory or treasures, even though this family... the inheritance rights, this is just fulfilling father’s long-cherished wish."
Mentioning "father" seemed to strike a chord with the middle-aged woman, who immediately stopped speaking, nodded to Farlonio, and walked into another part of the manor.
Elaphia turned around, fatigue showing on her face, as if it was more exhausting than fighting in the dueling arena.
"I apologize for the spectacle. Let’s proceed, there are plenty of rooms for resting."
In such a scenario, Li Ang naturally couldn’t ask about Elaphia’s family matters.
The blond girl employed her Magic Power to support the guests’ movement within the manor on suspended seats. They flew swiftly, and Li Ang and the others also noticed that the interior of the Alma Family’s house wasn’t of conventional architecture but had many passages with great depth in all directions, filled with metallic spirituality.
Such an environment must have been deliberately created by the builders and is very suitable for the Weapon Race to live and cultivate.
Along the way, Elaphia didn’t utter a word. Li Ang felt that if she were her usual self, she might carry some pride in introducing her family’s architecture and environment, talking about history and heritage.
However, because of the earlier events, doing so now seemed odd everywhere.
Falo occasionally met the eyes of the three and gently shook his head, conveying a "let it be" attitude, knowing that this was for the best. Not speaking now could give her a moment’s relief.
