Chapter 1027: Chapter 503: Special Person (3)

"But after Urbian was born, I gradually noticed the kind of smiles they showed him, smiles they’d never shown me; it wasn’t an illusion, for whenever they saw me, those smiles would vanish immediately."

Elaphia spoke as if unconsciously raising her hand, summoning a Pure Demon Blade with a familiar yet near-instinctual technique of magic manipulation, fluttering like a butterfly in the air.

"I saw the expectations our father had for my brother, his state of constantly supervising and pushing him in his cultivation day in and day out. Suddenly, I understood that the advice he used to give me when I practiced swordsmanship couldn’t really be called expectations."

The blond young girl’s cheeks bore a complex, subtle smile.

"It was nothing more than pity."

"I’m sorry," Li Ang sighed softly.

Elaphia smiled and gently pushed his forehead, her soft little hand completely unlike one that had ever wielded a sword, without a single callous. Perhaps that’s the wonder of her race, bloodline power that makes the skin as hard as steel when necessary, yet remains unremarkable in normal times.

"Sorry for what? Don’t forget, if I really unleash my full strength, there isn’t anybody on this Sword Platform Island who can stand against me, and even those few who can challenge me I don’t think have the slightest chance."

Seeing the ever-proud Elaphia, Li Ang nodded softly, though he had never doubted it; this further reassured him.

Her self-confidence still shone brightly.

"I used to think your entire race were all Blade Masters," Li Ang said.

"That’s understandable, you’re a Sky Knight, and only after I joined the Sky Knight Guild did our race slowly become known to the public of this era."

"Then how did you come to this profession?"

"I had moments of discontent, so when searching through various books and ancient scrolls for ways to strengthen myself, I discovered some of our tribe’s past. Long ago, there were Metal Blood Harwen Race members like me who lacked a warrior’s talent, and they contemplated how to combine their innate bloodline power with magic to create the prototype for Blade Master.

"Later, others developed and experimented further; I explored different ancient scrolls to find this fragmented knowledge, pieced it together, and understood it. Eventually, the path of this profession unfolded before me.

"I even promoted it to people in similar situations as mine, so you can see some of my followers are also from this profession. Although a corresponding group appeared on Sword Platform Island, our average strength isn’t strong enough, and the tribe still looks down on Blade Masters, with a myriad of negative comments and doubts."

"That’s remarkable," Li Ang smiled.

This can be seen as having completed a special profession’s class taskline, even in some games, achieving this would earn a player admiration, let alone in this real otherworld. Calling her a pioneer would not be an exaggeration.

"Remarkable, you say? Coming from you?"

Elaphia suddenly sighed softly, looking at Li Ang with an odd expression.

Li Ang noticed the increasingly complex and intense emotions in her eyes, making him a bit reluctant to meet her gaze. He instinctively shifted his focus back to the unfinished weapon in his hands.

"Do you know why——"

Elaphia spoke quickly, but her words stuck halfway, seemingly still struggling to find the right words.

This hesitation caused her face to redden, making it increasingly hard to speak.

"You, you don’t know why you’re special to me."

Li Ang paused, raised his head, and calmly met her gaze.

His gaze made it even harder for Elaphia to remain composed. She took a breath and said, "There was a day when I saw a witch. He elevated this not widely accepted profession to a very high tier but due to a lack of inheritance, his magic control reached this level yet didn’t display corresponding power, even to the point of being laughed at behind his back."

"But, just because he existed..."

Elaphia’s throat bobbed once, changing pronouns.

"To me, just your existence proves that my choice of becoming a Blade Master isn’t a solitary, stubborn pursuit because there are others in this world walking the same path as I am."

The brightly flushed cheeks of the blond girl’s youthful yet exquisite face couldn’t be concealed, even by the furnace’s light.

"Later, I found that your curse art allowed me to exert even greater power without any negative effects. More than ever, I felt like you should stand by my side."

Elaphia reached out her hand: "For the Martial Extreme Trial, I don’t need much help from outsiders; even if I fail, it’s just a lack of skill. I’m glad you’re here, even if you can’t help me because I called you not for your help, but simply to have you here."

"I’m here." Li Ang also raised his hand, clasping hers.

However, even though it was the blond young girl who reached out first, she quickly withdrew it as if electrocuted when he touched it.

Aifei briefly lost her usual composure, her expression changing several times, her gaze shifting repeatedly before facing Li Ang again.

Just as she was about to say something, she suddenly noticed his left arm.

To shake hands with her, Li Ang put down the tool in his hand, but the weapon was unbearably hot from the fire and not suitable to set down, so he temporarily used his prosthetic hand to hold the high-temperature metal.

This behavior was worlds apart from normal artisans; only then did Elaphia realize that the hand was a prosthetic, which had been concealed beneath sleeves and gloves, unnoticed before.

"Who made this?!" she asked urgently.

"About that, I hadn’t told you, I cut it off myself."

Li Ang removed the prosthetic hand, showing her the new arm that had nearly grown out to the elbow.

"No need to say, I remember now."

Recalling past events beyond the initial impulse and worry upon seeing his broken arm, Aifei remembered witnessing his hand sprouting thorns from the Demon Curse.

The young girl blushed, stammering lightly, "Any-anyways, you’ve become stronger, very strong. We don’t need that arranged test anymore. I see the weapon and know what level of attack you can unleash. This, this is great; it’s the power you ought to have, without bearing others’ skeptical eyes or being constrained in some mediocre groups."

"When we find time, I’ll recount the experiences of these days to you in detail," Li Ang smiled.

"Alright."

Gradually, as they chatted about this and that, the young girl slowly lowered her hovering height, left the Flying Blade, and sat beside the young man, quietly watching him craft equipment, quietly watching him.

"Hmph." Suddenly, something seemed to strike her mind, causing her to snort coldly.

Li Ang perked up, only to hear her say, "But you still have that problem, why can a different girl always be following you?"

"Misunderstanding, misunderstanding, this time it’s truly a misunderstanding, that black-haired one is actually——"

Considering their relationship, Li Ang didn’t withhold Lily’s identity, directly telling her.

"Turns out her biological mother is your first team member?"

Indeed, this surprised Elaphia, as Li Ang explained more about Zoe’s related series of events, including her parents’ potential identity.

Finally, Li Ang tried to discuss something he wasn’t sure how to begin.

"This is your deserved punishment," Elaphia stated with her hands on her hips, "I bet you don’t dare to step up and speak the truth to her, and getting beaten up was just what you deserved."

This time, the Blondie Douding was straightforward and confessed, yet still brushed off the Star Flower Travel Corps girls; Li Ang sensibly knew not to ask her opinion on them, unlike some who would want them completely excluded, making him sweat bullets.

"What about the other one, you can’t fool me on this."

"I didn’t expect that while restoring the professional inheritance, I’d meet a remarkable guide." 𝒻𝘳ℯℯ𝑤ℯ𝒷𝘯ℴ𝓋ℯ𝘭.𝑐ℴ𝑚

Briefly sharing about Diao and the ancient witches of Zultin Marsh, Elaphia moved from sulking to sighing.

"Sometimes, it feels like divine spirits are planting one special girl after another beside you."

Her statement was something Li Ang couldn’t readily accept.

He gazed at Elaphia and said, "I don’t think anyone arranged anything."

"Even if others are arranged, I certainly am not," Elaphia lifted her chin.

Alright then, it turns out you wanted to say this.

"Yes, you are truly unique."

"Hm-hmph."

...

As night fell, the announcement of dinner from the attendants had repeated several times before they finally finished speaking in the forge and came out, greeting the meaningful gazes of Farlonio and Diao. The two, as if nothing had happened, took their seats, while on the side Lily had already devoured several servings of food.

"Speaking of trading with A Xiang to obtain Bone-Deep Passion and Scorn, we still haven’t resolved the Treasure Artifacts matter," Li Ang brought up the issue.

"This time, let’s make that swindler pay dearly," Elaphia glanced at the brown-haired Douding.

"Hmm, as agreed, I should claim an extra portion of the ancestors’ treasures."
