Tushan Feishang felt that with every passing day he spent with Qiao Suluo, his love for her grew deeper than the last. She was so wonderful that his heart had fallen for her completely, entirely out of his control. Now, he didn’t want to hide anything from her anymore. He refused to allow even the slightest misunderstanding between himself and his wife.

Qiao Suluo paused for a moment before taking the letter from him. Noting the stationery and the unique totem stamped on it, she realized what it was and asked, “Is this a letter from your family?”

Tushan Feishang looked at her with deep, tender affection. “Yes, it’s a message from the Qingqiu Clan. My grandmother sent it to me. You can read it first.”

“Is it appropriate for me to read it?” Qiao Suluo still felt the need to ask, believing that one should maintain proper boundaries in many matters.

Hearing this, Tushan Feishang’s heart melted completely. “Of course it is. I want to tell you everything about me. You can read any of my letters. You are my wife; we are one.”

He wanted to be completely honest with her. In the past, Tushan Feishang would never have imagined that he would one day act this way for a female. But his wife was worth it. He even felt that he wasn’t treating her well enough.

At this moment, wrapped in Tushan Feishang’s embrace, Qiao Suluo could feel his absolute trust in her. She was also curious about what had happened in the Qingqiu Clan to make him look so grim. She opened the letter and began to read. By the time she finished, her expression had grown solemn as well.

“Something has happened in the Qingqiu Clan, and they need you to return and handle it.” No wonder he looked so troubled.

“Yes. It’s just that I can’t bear to part with you. I want to be with my wife every single day. But right now, there is internal strife within the Qingqiu Clan. Grandmother and the others might be in danger, and I can’t just sit idly by.”

“I understand,” Qiao Suluo said seriously. “If you need to go back, then go. I’ll wait for you at home. Or, if you need my help, I can go with you.”

Logically, Qiao Suluo knew that tagging along might only add to his troubles. She didn’t have much combat ability yet. If she went, it would force Tushan Feishang to divide his attention to protect her. She might even become his weakness.

Tushan Feishang would never put Qiao Suluo in danger under any circumstances. The Qingqiu Clan was massive, and its internal power struggles were vicious; he didn’t dare let her take that risk.

“No, there’s no need. I’ll go by myself,” he replied. “Just don’t forget me, Wife. You must wait for me to return.”

Tushan Feishang didn’t know how long this trip would take. A sense of unease lingered in his heart. As he held Qiao Suluo and murmured these words with his head bowed, his tone lacked its usual lazy nonchalance, replaced instead by a palpable apprehension.

Qiao Suluo was also reluctant to let him go, but she knew he had responsibilities to shoulder and had to return. She reached out and hugged him back. “Don’t worry. I’ll wait for you to come back, and I won’t forget you.”

With those words, Tushan Feishang felt at ease. He knew his wife was different from other females. She held herself to strict standards; her word was her bond, and whatever she promised, she would undoubtedly deliver. This brought him a great deal of comfort.

“But you must also be careful. Don’t put yourself in danger,” she added. “When you come back, I’ll bear your fox cubs.”

Qiao Suluo felt she needed to give him an incentive to prioritize his safety, so she made this promise.

Hearing this, Tushan Feishang excitedly crushed his lips against hers, swallowing her up in a kiss as fierce as a tempest. In that moment, his heart filled with anticipation.

“Thank you, Wife. Thank you…”

He was genuinely grateful that he had lost three tails back then and ended up being sent to her. Otherwise, how would he ever have met Qiao Suluo? How would he have known how wonderful she was? Within the Qingqiu Clan, he had never seen a female as good as his wife, one who loved and respected her Beast Husband so much.

“Don’t worry, I will definitely return.”

Qiao Suluo asked when he was leaving. He told her he would depart the next day; he couldn’t afford to delay for too long. He had been protected and raised by his grandmother since childhood. He couldn’t abandon her now.

“There’s one more thing I need to confess to you,” he said, looking at Qiao Suluo with a cautious expression when he finally decided to speak. “But once you know, please don’t be mad at me, alright?”

Because he cared so much, he was terrified of losing her. That was why he worried she would be angry.

Qiao Suluo had never seen Tushan Feishang like this before. He had always been confident and composed, acting like a master strategist who had everything under control. Seeing him this way, she couldn’t bear to be angry.

“Go ahead and tell me. I won’t be mad.”

“You promised, Wife.”

“Yes, I keep my word.”

Only then did Tushan Feishang finally confess, “Actually, the Nanfeng Building is my property. When I was sent to the Nanfeng Building, my subordinates were worried about me, so they bought it. So…”

Qiao Suluo’s eyes widened in astonishment. She hadn’t expected the Nanfeng Building to belong to Tushan Feishang. No wonder he had dressed so well and acted so naturally while he was there.

Seeing that Qiao Suluo remained silent, Tushan Feishang held her carefully and asked, “Are you angry, Wife? You can hit me or scold me, whatever it takes to cool your anger. Just please don’t ignore me.”

Qiao Suluo snapped out of her daze and replied, “I’m not angry. I’m just really surprised. But I’m also very happy. I’m glad the Nanfeng Building is your property; it means you didn’t suffer any real grievances before.”

Her predecessor really shouldn’t have sold him to the Nanfeng Building.

Tushan Feishang had imagined all sorts of reactions from Qiao Suluo once she found out, but he had never expected this.

“Wife!” Tushan Feishang’s voice was slightly hoarse as he hugged her tightly. “You’re too good to me. It’s you who is good, willing to forgive me.”

Even though it wasn’t the current her who had done it, it was still done by this body, and Tushan Feishang had indeed been hurt. Yet, she was just glad that the Nanfeng Building was his property.

A torrential undercurrent of emotion surged in Tushan Feishang’s heart. All he knew was that his feelings were bursting forth like a flood breaching a dam. He clung to Qiao Suluo tightly.

It wasn’t until the second half of the night that Tushan Feishang finally loosened his grip on her slightly.

“Wife, I’ve always had a lingering doubt in my mind.”

Qiao Suluo was drowsy, barely able to keep her eyes open, and her voice was nearly hoarse. “Mmm, tell me.”

“Wife, I feel that you are very different from before. There are many times when I feel like you’re not the same person.”

In truth, ever since Qiao Suluo had come to the Nanfeng Building to find him, he had noticed something was amiss. He had been testing her even back then. Her reactions and demeanor were completely different from before. It was precisely because she had changed that his previous disgust for her had vanished, making him willing to let her get close. The more he interacted with her, the more wonderful he found her to be. Eventually, he had fallen for her without even realizing it.

Hearing those words, Qiao Suluo jolted wide awake, her sleepiness vanishing instantly. She looked up at Tushan Feishang, meeting those lazy, breathtakingly gorgeous fox eyes that seemed capable of stealing her soul.

“You…”

Qiao Suluo didn’t know what to say. The system wouldn’t allow her to volunteer the truth. But if he confirmed his own guess, she would be able to admit it. Admit that she wasn’t her predecessor.

These men really were incredibly smart; every single one of them had managed to figure it out.
