Chapter 1332: Chapter 1331: I Brought You Trouble

"Alan!"

Shirley shouted and tried to run after him.

But Alan just bolted off like crazy, not caring about anything.

With him sprinting like that, there was no way Shirley, in high heels, could catch up.

Watching his figure get farther and farther away, Shirley stayed where she was and slowly crouched down.

She’d finally started living a dreamlike life with Alan, but she never thought it would be shattered so soon.

"I’m sorry."

Andrew stood over there and apologized to Shirley as well.

If it weren’t for him, Shirley wouldn’t be in so much pain.

Annie stood there, deeply regretting why she’d blurted that out so fast.

Now that this had happened, what on earth were they supposed to do?

She kept feeling like she was breaking up other people’s marriages.

Thinking of this, Annie walked up to Shirley.

"I’m sorry, I didn’t know you guys were standing here."

Shirley too—why didn’t she say something before Annie started talking?

If she’d seen them, she absolutely wouldn’t have said any of that.

"I don’t blame you."

Shirley’s voice was slightly hoarse as she slowly stood up.

"Sorry, my legs just went weak for a moment there."

She awkwardly explained why she’d crouched down, then gave a small laugh.

"Annie, you don’t need to feel guilty. Some things are bound to happen sooner or later."

Nothing can be kept from a person for a lifetime.

The moment you choose to hide something, you have to be prepared for it to be exposed.

"Andrew, you don’t need to apologize either."

Andrew wasn’t wrong.

Shirley saw everything clearly; she understood.

"I think Alan just can’t accept it for the moment. Once he figures things out, he’ll come back."

Shirley smiled, looking very strong.

But Andrew clearly saw the tears in her eyes.

Seeing her like this, Andrew was filled with guilt.

Why had he drunk so much Wine and asked Annie out?

"I’m planning to go back to Sicily tomorrow, so I asked Annie out—I wanted to help her sort out her situation."

Because he could understand that pain of loving someone yet never being able to have them.

He had no standing, no way to fight for it.

But Owen Lewis was different.

"Andrew, I know you meant well, you wanted to help me."

Annie stood there and reached up to rub the arm that had just been grabbed.

Her whole arm hurt so much now it felt like it wasn’t even hers.

"Owen and I will handle our own business. Besides, we’ve already handled it. Maybe we really just weren’t right for each other. Andrew, don’t worry. Even though I’m divorced from him, we’re still good buddies."

They’re still working for Maxwell Peary, still having intersections at work.

If Maxwell asked her and Owen Lewis to carry out a mission together, she wouldn’t object.

Everything would go back to how it was at the beginning, and that was fine.

"I’m sorry, maybe I’m just too... too..."

After being away for years, Andrew realized he couldn’t even find the words to describe how he felt.

Awkwardly trailing off mid-sentence, he laughed.

"I never thought I’d end up causing you trouble right before I leave."

Andrew turned his head to look at Shirley.

Shirley froze for a moment, then gave a simple, gracious smile.

"I don’t think I’ve ever properly thanked you for saving my life."

Compared to a life-saving debt, this kind of trouble hardly counts as trouble at all.
